How apropos at the beginning of a New Year to share with you the slate of new leaders joining areas of min- istry that already have stellar leaders in place. Truly, truly, we are blessed here at Plymouth First with the kind of church family that gives us ample reason to give thanks. Persons are experiencing the love of Christ, and given the ample opportunities we afford people to grow in Christ, they in turn are able to go into the places God has planted them and attend to the harvest that is plentiful. But as our Lord clearly said, the workers are few. Having said that, Jesus went on to say, “… therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers…” (Matthew 9: 37-38) Yet one more reason for me to give thanks! We have asked Jesus to send workers. Graciously, He has sent not only workers – He has sent us remarkable workers. I HOPE that Plymouth First appreciates the fine quality of those who have said, ”Yes”, to our re- quests to serve. We are blessed to have the quality of character so evident in those serving our various areas of ministry throughout our church (by all means, scour the Lay Leadership report and take note of who will be serving us), and I celebrate the superb quality and commitment of our staff members who endeavor to provide opportunities for us to know the Way, the Truth, and the Life of Jesus Christ. We are delighted to have Amanda Williams now on staff serving our youth so effectively and we look forward to great things with our Youth Ministry! Having the cream of the crop in places of responsibility ensures the finest of leadership to step into those areas in need of diagnosis, discernment, deliberation and then mus- tering the determination to chart a course of action to make our way to the preferred destination, rather than flee. For those with the courage to follow Jesus, this is ulti- mately a face to face encounter with our Lord to hear those blessed words of assurance, “Well done, my good and faithful servant!” I am confident we have a host of those here in our First Church family well positioned for that glorious day! Please pray on a regular basis for these faithful servants of our Lord and Church family. These persons have gracious- ly offered to serve us, and may 2015 become our best year ever as we strive to serve our Lord and Savior! How apropos at the beginning of a New Year to share

with you the slate of new leaders joining areas of min-

istry that already have stellar leaders in place. Truly,

truly, we are blessed here at Plymouth First with the

kind of church family that gives us ample reason to

give thanks. Persons are experiencing the love of

Christ, and given the ample opportunities we afford

people to grow in Christ, they in turn are able to go

into the places God has planted them and attend to

the harvest that is plentiful. But as our Lord clearly

said, the workers are few. Having said that, Jesus went

on to say, “… therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to

send out workers…” (Matthew 9: 37-38) Yet one more

reason for me to give thanks!

We have asked Jesus to send workers. Graciously, He

has sent not only workers – He has sent us remarkable

workers. I HOPE that Plymouth First appreciates the

fine quality of those who have said, ”Yes”, to our re-

quests to serve. We are blessed to have the quality of

character so evident in those serving our various areas

of ministry throughout our church (by all means, scour

the Lay Leadership report and take note of who will

be serving us), and I celebrate the superb quality and

commitment of our staff members who

endeavor to provide opportunities for us to know the Way,

the Truth, and the Life of Jesus Christ. We are delighted to

have Amanda Williams now on staff serving our youth so

effectively and we look forward to great things with our

Youth Ministry!

Having the cream of the crop in places of responsibility

ensures the finest of leadership to step into those areas in

need of diagnosis, discernment, deliberation and then mus-

tering the determination to chart a course of action to

make our way to the preferred destination, rather than

flee. For those with the courage to follow Jesus, this is ulti-

mately a face to face encounter with our Lord to hear those

blessed words of assurance, “Well done, my good and

faithful servant!” I am confident we have a host of those

here in our First Church family well positioned for that

glorious day!

Please pray on a regular basis for these faithful servants of

our Lord and Church family. These persons have gracious-

ly offered to serve us, and may 2015 become our best year

ever as we strive to serve our Lord and Savior!

Chancel Choir Super Sub Sandwich Sale – Sunday, February 1

Marcia Van Oyen organ recital Saturday, February 7, 6:30 pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel a half-hour concert of organ music following the service of Evensong.

New Sanctuary Organ Console Arriving Soon! The Schantz Organ Company has started building the new organ con-sole for our sanctuary. We expect it to be delivered and installed by late February or early March. Thanks to all of you who made this pro-ject possible with your generous support!

Come have fun making music!

Jubilate Open House Sunday, February 1, 11:30 am – noon All children in 1st – 6th grade are invited to spend a half-hour making music in the

choir room after worship on February 1st. If you’ve never tried children’s choir be-

fore, this is a great chance to try it out. We’ll work on the song “Open the Eyes of My

Heart” to share in Sanctuary on Sunday, February 8, and on another Sunday in Im-

pact. We’ll also play African drums during our open house and learn sign language to

an African song.

Why is children’s choir important? Participating in children’s choir is not just about learning a nice song

so adults can applaud the effort. It’s about learning to lead worship. In Jubilate Choir, we spend time learn-

ing to sing, play drums, and choir chimes. We learn praise songs and hymns, fast songs and slow songs,

learn the stories and meanings of our songs, and sing songs in different languages. In the past, we have giv-

en the children’s message as a group. The children’s choir experience is designed to offer kids a broad range

of opportunities to let them know they are capable and welcome to help lead worship, and help them dis-

cover gifts that they can offer in worship throughout their lives. And we have a lot of fun doing it.

Our usual time for the Jubilate choir is Wednesday evenings, 6:00 – 6:45 pm, which we will resume starting

Feb. 4th. If your children would like to participate in choir but can’t make it on Wednesdays, please let me

know. We can certainly consider another day when more children can make it. Or if you have questions

about children’s choir, please feel free to ask.

COOKIE WALK Report

Thank you, bakers and buyers alike, for helping raise monies for Youth Bibles

through our Cookie Walk this year. We raised $1,100.50 to be given to Amy and Nick

to purchase these items for our youth.

And the blessing was multiplied as the cookies that were left over were boxed and

sent along with Eric and his team to the First Step Christmas Party that afternoon

that was sponsored by our church. The kids loved the cookies, as all kids do...of

all ages!

So again, thank you for supporting this fundraiser for our church.

SALVATION ARMY UPDATE AND THANK YOU

What a glorious job you all did in showing Christ to our community this holiday season! Beginning with our Food Drive in the fall, 150 Hiller's bags were distributed or picked up at the Donation Station and all were delivered to or dropped off at the Salvation Army Food Pantry. What a blessing! Then our bell ringers came through and manned the kettle at Hiller's in Plymouth for 3 days, 10 hours each day. Thank you for giving up an hour of your busy time to collect for those needing our assistance. Finally, as a congregation, we were able to provide a Christmas morning for 70 children and teens by purchasing needed clothing items and wanted toys, puzzles and books. It is a joy to represent our church family at the Salvation Army and to see the blessings in both giving and receiving. Thank you for your continued support. Now that the holidays are over, let us keep our less fortunate neighbors in mind and help keep the Food Pantry stocked with non-perishable food items and hygiene needs. Blessings,

Debbie Single

HAPPY NEW YEAR to All and to all a

Blessed 2015.

This time last year we wrote about the cancella-

tion of the January 2014 luncheon, and also how

stalwart 60 Plussers braved rain, sleet and

cold to come together for lunch. We did

not have to cancel this year, however, it

was a mighty cold day ~ temp about 17 ~

but almost all our hale and hearty crew ar-

rived, but we missed those who were unable

to come. Chef Cheryl’s lunch was also a

hearty ham, baked beans, salad, Italian green

beans, with corn bread and a yummy pud-

ding concoction for dessert. Great for a cold

day. Our program was a film about five romantic

cities of Europe ~ Salzburg, Athens, Paris, Ma-

drid and Rome. A lovely video that whisked us

Dear Plymouth First Family,

On behalf of Tierney, Kyle and myself I want to thank you all for your prayers and

support. We are so grateful to be part of this wonderful church family. Christ’s

strength has been sufficient for us to face Timarie’s battle with cancer and her pass-

ing to glory. His strength will continue to be sufficient for us as we face the future.

We in turn pray that God will bless you all. May our Church continue to present the

love of Christ to each and especially to those who do not know Him.
