Girl’s Night Out in Historic Downtown Millersburgby pammoore

I t’s been an extraordinary winter, lots of snow and extremely cold temperatures. Most people have made work and the grocery store their only destinations. And for moms who have spent many a snow day cooped up with the kids, it’s

been a l-o-n-g winter. Girls and women are ready for a pick-me-up, and Historic Downtown

Millersburg will provide a number of events Feb. 22, from 4-9 p.m. during Girl’s Night Out, to give them an evening to remember.

Girl’s Night Out started in 2007 and has continued to grow through the years. It’s a night for pampering, excellent bargains, meeting old friends, making new friends and a chance to get a group of girlfriends together for an evening out.

According to Judy Lamp, executive director of Historic Downtown Millersburg, two new events have been added. Pomerene Hospital will set up in the new section of Bags Sports Pub and present Go Red for Women. Information will be given on risks and joining the campaign for reducing heart disease. Visitors will be able to enter a drawing for a chance to win a heart pendant and collect free giveaways including red feather boas, tote bags and more.

Lamp said that this year the Holmes County Library Bookmobile will also be part of the celebration, parking at the back of the police department parking lot.

The downtown stores that participate in this event partner with small businesses that are home businesses or located in other parts of the county. “There are a lot of new things coming in that have never been here before,” said Lamp. A sampling of the businesses that will be set up in the downtown area include Jamberry, the Humane Society and Paparazzi Jewelry in the Kaufman Realty Building. Some old favorites and others that are sure to become favorites will be located in the First Knox Building, such as Uppercase Living, Longaberger, Oragami Owl, Nerium and Airbonne. White Law Office and Pleasant Wealth will host Coblentz Chocolates, Beach Club Tanning, Mary Kay, Stampin’ Up, Heini’s Cheese and Studio What! Visitors are invited to stop in and relax on their big comfy couch. And that’s only a few of the many businesses that are ready to pamper women and girls during this annual event.

“When I look at all of this I just have to say ‘Wow!’”, said Lamp. “Just walking around town you don’t really get a grasp on how many businesses are participating. The numbers are just extraordinary and so are the shop owners. They are bringing other businesses in, rearranging their stores and it is all for women to get pampered on a special night. They make it a special experience for the women who stop in each shop.”
