So far in 2017, over 60,000 Syrian refugees in the 3RP countries have received or are receiving services related to the prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). Furthermore, more than 21,000 individuals have been trained on protection including child protection and SGBV services.

In Jordan, the Annual report on SGBV for 2016 was released which highlighted the improved access to self-reliance opportunities for individuals at risk of SGBV and survivors. The need for improved access to services for those who live in isolation or marginalized situations was also highlighted. Moreover, it emphasized the need to further strengthen the referral component by working more closely with actors providing outreach, screening and awareness raising as well as health, legal, psychological support, safety/security and livelihood component, and to ensure community-based complaint and referral mechanism are in place and functioning well.

In Iraq, Protection partners made significant progress in building the capacity of mobile teams of the Directorate of Combating Violence Against Women covering refugee and IDP camps as well as urban locations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Partners developed an inter-agency plan for addressing prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse in refugee settings in Iraq.

So far in 2017, over 980,827 have benefited from access to adequate quantity of safe water through improved longer-term water systems. Approximately 290,000 people have gained access to appropriate sanitation facilities and services, and over 466,000 people have access to adequate quantity of safe water through temporary provision.

In Jordan, 45 kilometres of pipeline have been installed for the Za’atari camp water network and the foundation of twowastewater pumping stations completed. In Azraq camp, the new water network and borehole were commissioned. This will help triple the number of tap stands with water being pumped directly from the boreholes to the newreservoirs, eliminating the need for water tankering. In Lebanon, 3RP partners initiated a solid waste managementprogramme. This aims to address increased solid waste and garbage disposal on the roads which can result in tensionsbetween refugees and host communities, such as in Chhim where 31.5 tons of waste is generated on a daily basis.
