ABOUT THE CITY AND UNIVERSITY OF

One of the oldest cies of India, Allahabad, is also known as 'Tirthraj

grant from Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India under its

"Manpower Development Programme". The Centre has established a

NABL accredited Food Analysis and Research Laboratory with the grant

aid of MFPI for commercial tesng of food and water samples and serve

the industry in surrounding areas by providing tesng services for quality

assurance and food safety. The lab has also been given status of Nodal Lab

by FSSAI. The Centre is currently offering M.Sc. and PhD degree

programmes in Food Technology and Nutrional Sciences. In 2015, the

ASSOCIATION OF FOOD SCIENTISTS AND TECHNOLOGISTS (INDIA)

The AFST(I) has official head quarters at the Central Food Technological Research Instute Campus, Mysore. Its objecve is the advancement of all

aspects of Science and Technology relang to the producon, processing and distribuon of food. There are thirty four Chapters of AFST(I) in the enre country. The locaons of some of the Chapters are at Mumbai,

Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, NIFTEM etc. The chapters work in close associaon with the Headquarters to uphold the principles, policies and

objecves as laid down in the Constuon. The AFST(I) Allahabad Chapter was iniated in the year 2016. It aims to bring together members on a

plaorm along with the experts in the field not only from India but also

from abroad, along with the captains of the industries to share the commonalies of the cung edge technology in today's changing

scenario. In this context, the AFST(I) Allahabad Chapter intends to organize lectures, workshops, and naonal seminars for a large number of

Naonal as well as Internaonal sciensts, technologists, entrepreneurs and students.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The world is facing an escalang challenge to meet accelerang demand

driven by both increasing populaon and per-capita income growth for sustainable agriculture in the face of mulple constraints – climate

change, human populaon pressure, local and global resource scarcity and ecosystem preservaon. Stakeholders should recognize the linkages

between poverty, hunger, agriculture, and nutrion and the enormous potenal for cross-sector development approaches. Furthermore, our growing analycal understanding of entrenched inequality suggests that

key populaons, parcularly smallholder farmers and women are at the nexus of agriculture, nutrion & health and thus, crical drivers of

inclusive growth. Conversely, they are challenged by the structural roots of poverty, hunger and malnutrion and likely to slow the realizaon of

sustainable development if their crical role is unaddressed. The full

economic, social and environmental benefits of sustainable agriculture can be best realized if policies are devised and implemented with the full

parcipaon of all stakeholders. Sustainable, nutrion-sensive agriculture and food security policies will help improve the availability and

accessibility of nutrious food and promote healthy and sustainable diets and prosperity in rural areas. To meet the consumer expectaons and food requirement of the increasing populaon, food industry needs ideas in the

field of food processing, nutrion and agriculture sustainability to overcome these challenges. Considering the importance of the issue,
