2010 Championship rules

Old Drivers Spirit the originsThe idea was started un 2007 by Olivier Zaiit great Grand Prix Legends drivers at the F1Legendsch championship

Some other drivers (Jura and SdP) also GT Legends lovers decided to join him to create this championship

The first 2 editions (2007-2008) were done on GT Legends the only game that was able to satisfy our requirements in simulation sensations In 2009 it was decided to switch to the ISI game rFactor and the Historic GT amp Touring Cars mod from Historix team

The 2010 championshipThe 4th edition starts with the same goals as before having fun by driving these cars

2009 was a little bit in trouble We were not well prepared to switch from GT Legends to rFactor This year will also not be perfect (there are a lot of bugs in the mod) but we will do our best and at least we have one year knowledge with the game and the mod and we will not do the same mistakes anymore (but maybe we will do other mistakes)

A 2010 news

They are important please read them to avoid bad surprises

1 Old Drivers Spirit InstallationA specific installation is now required We had a lot of troubles last year due to mismatches in some player installations This year we will provide all the necessary stuff So nothing should change from one player to the other

We fixed a lot a the mod issues (unfortunately not all of them) Due to this fixes the Old Drivers Spirit installation will not be compatible with others

You will need 2 ou 3 Gb more on your hard disk but you should never be rejected from the server due to a mismatch

2 Team championshipDrivers can if they want (not necessary) create a 2 drivers team A team standing will be done during the whole season

Think about making a logo for your team

3 Points for DNFUntil now the drivers who didnt reach the final line didnt got points In 2010 each driver who drove at least 20 of the race distance will get points according to his rank But the car bonus will not applied if they dont finish the race

4 Race durationTo give the ldquolittle carsrdquo there chance we will only have 1 Hour races The ldquobiggest carsrdquo usually destroyed they tires quickly but they were able to be very fast on 30mn races With 1 hour more strategy will be necessary Taking a ldquobig carrdquo going fast at the beginning and taking care of the tires at the end or taking a ldquolittle carrdquo and pushing it the whole race

5 New carsFerrari GTB4 and la BMW 2800 CS (LM72) joined the GTC-TC-76 class Coppa Mille and Mini Cooper 1310 joined the TC-65 classMany new skins (made by and for Old Drivers Spirit) are available Most of them are real cars running in 2009 on historic races

Championship

6 ClassesTo make the race more funny we changed the class for some cars - TC-65 gets Alpine A110 and Lotus Elite- GTC-65 gets Porsche 906 and 914 and Ford Mustang and Falcon too- GTC-TC76 gets the Ford GT40

7 Car flipEach driver who had a car flip must go directly to the pits and do a full car repair (tires and fuel not mandatory)

8 Gamedata checkEach race day and before the qualifications starts a GameData check must be done by the ODS_Client2 software

If there is a mismatch indicated during qualifications andor warmup the drivers woh didnt do the GameData check or who got error during they check will rejected from the server so that the drivers that do not changed they GameData and do the check will not be penalized

9 PerformancesCars physics got fixed (fuel tank capacity fuel consumption engine overheating) All the mod bugs were not fixed but at least now all the cars can be used

D Basic rulesAll the generic rules of an online championship applies here Fairplay fun to drive and respect other drivers should be the basic of all driver that want to join our races

1 In RaceThe leitmotiv must be Gentleman Drivers Spirit1st example we do not force overlapping Also if its on a driver whos many lap behind you If you push a driver out of the track you have to wait him (or he said hes OUT) and you restart behind him

If you dont do this you will get a penalty and will start from the pits at the next race

2 ChatNo discussions are allowed during the official competitions (qualify and race)

The authorized messages are

ndash PO (Pits out) et PI (Pits in) security when slowing to get in the pits or coming back on

track

The toleratedadvised messages are

- SRY (Sorry) and NP (No Problem) if you push a driver

- OUT to signify to the driver that kicked you that its not necessary that he continue to wait you cannot restart

During qualificationsIf a driver say hello when he join the game wait the end of the qualifications to greet him back

The end of the raceTake care that when you cross the finish line a lot a driver are probably still fighting on tack Wait until everybody is finished before chatting

Except specific authorization a steering wheel is mandatory to participate

E RegistrationsYou just need to be registered on the websiteWhen this is done you have to select where you want to participate (ODS Championship andor Trophy)

You can also (and it strongly recommended) register and participate to the forum Its the best way to live the Old Drivers Spirit community and the best place to get the last informations

We know the the forum is mainly in French but feel free to start topics or to answer in English you will always get exchangesIf you join after the start you have to ask for the link to get the GameData 2010 and the ODS_Client2 software

F How to participateThe following conditions must be filled

Your name should appear in the member list

Participate to the trainings

Have a separate ODS installation

Have the ODS GameData 2010 (process available on our wiki)

G PreventionIf you have a prevention please inform us in the ldquoracerdquo section of the forum

Championship

H RacesThe races are on Monday evening 900 PM CET for the qualifications 930 PM (500 PM in the game) for the race

All the races follow this

II Professional mode

III 100 damage

IV No safety car

V No help available except automatic clutch

The event duration is more or less 90mn 30 minutes qualifications 3mn warm-up 1 hour race

If you like longer races then you should register to our Endurance Trophy

I Car choiceThe car choice is free for each race but can only be one of the class selected for the race

Each driver can own his car The car would appear in the ldquoPrivate Garagerdquo section of the game

As the name ldquoPrivaterdquo indicates only the drivers owning a car can use the cars available in this sectionIf you dont have your own cars you can choose one of the 300 cars available in the Old Drivers Spirit section

J Points The standings is based on the whole event duration

Each driver who participate and finish a race gets points according to the following table

And so on until the last classified driver

Reminder A driver who dont reach the finish line gets points if he drover at least 20 of the race But he will not get his bonus points If he didnt reach 20 of the race he will not get any point

1 Bonus

a Pole position1 point bonus for the best lap during qualifications

b Best Lap1 point bonus for the best lap in race (Dont care if the driver finished the race or not)

c Car choiceTo have a well balanced point attribution and to have different cars on track less performant cars gets bonus So they are slower on track but can have the same final standing due to this bonusesThose bonuses are only applicable id the driver finish the race

2 Penalties If the is a reclamation a penalty can be applied by the adminsreferee in the following cases

1 Dangerous behaviour on track (deliberate harming another driver)

2 No fair-play

Most usual examples

- Winning a place by cutting a corner

- Push a driver out of the track and dont wait of him

3 The race is done on track The grass is not part of the track

2 wheels on grass can be tolerated if its an exception 4 wheels on grass will automaticaly give a penalty

If you are not sure do not hesitate to ask before its always better than claiming after

If the is a claiming accorded to the adminsreferee the driver will get a penalty

- He will lose 10 of the first drivers points (6 points)

- Starts from the pits at his next race

K StandingThe Standing is done based on the server export files

All the races are included in the general standing Over the year and usually during the summer season break we organize ldquoOpen Racesrdquo and ldquoFun Eventsrdquo Those events are not included in the championship standings

L Connection issues If at least 23rd of the drivers are disconnected or if the adminsreferee decided it the race will be restarted and if the qualification standings cannot be restored a new 10mn qualification run is done If one of the race cannot be done due to technical reason the event is cancelled Is there is a possibility to postpone the event the possibility will be used Of course an isolated disconnection of a driver will not impact the event
