REIKI II
Usui Level II with Hillary Faye
2
What to Expect:
• Learn how to work with the energy beyond space and time.
• Incorporation of new symbols into existing practice
• Mental and emotional healing
• Quantum energetics:
“Quantum healing is healing the body/mind from a quantum level. That means from a level which is not manifest at a
sensory level. Our bodies ultimately are fields of information, intelligence and energy. Quantum healing involves a shift
in the fields of energy information, to bring about a correction in an idea that has gone wrong. Quantum healing involves
healing one mode of consciousness- mind, to bring about changes in another mode of consciousness- body.” – Deepak
Chopra
We know that we are “All One,” but what does that really mean and how can a technique known as Reiki help heal a
planet?
“Quantum Physics shows us how we are all connected in a field known as the quantum pool. Every thought and every
emotion we feel goes into that quantum pool of All Thought and affects Souls everywhere. That being said, if the
thoughts and emotions that are going into that quantum pool are healing and balancing, imagine the ripple effect to all
the other Souls who are part of this shared energy.
Reiki, as a healing energy technique, can be a very powerful gift in these times of chaos and challenge. When we learn to
employ this beautiful ancient healing wisdom to ourselves and others, we can know that we are making a difference here
on Planet Earth that is far reaching.
The main idea behind Reiki is that there is a universal or source energy that supports the body, and the healing abilities
that the body already has. Your body has an inner wisdom that, when activated, can restore balance and health
regardless of your current condition. Reiki is so powerful and effective that it is practiced worldwide in hospitals, medical
offices and clinics, healing retreats and spas, and is used by many health care practitioners to support their patients’
health and recovery from illness.
Whatever symptoms you are experiencing, know this. Your condition (symptoms) are in fact connected to deeper issues.
Everything that happens in the physical body also happens on the emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Proper healing
means bringing ALL of these parts of yourself into balance and Reiki does that.” – www.sunsethealjamaica.com

WHAT IS YOUR INTENTION?
Your intention as a Reiki practitioner is equally, if not more, important than your technique.
Making a clear, powerful statement of intention as you begin your Reiki Training allows all the forces of the Universe
(REIKI) to align with you, helping to manifest your intention in the best way. Having unclear, or too many scattered
intentions, is a dispersion of energy. Keep your intention clear and simple. That doesn’t mean you can’t go big – make
your intention as powerful, truthful, and love-filled as possible. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ intention, and remember
the beautiful truth that Energy Follows Intention.
Allow your intention to become a sweet mantra that repeats itself on every wave of breath, and that is written,
encoded, in every cell of your Being.
Create your Core Intention below, written in affirmative and I AM statements:
AND SO, IT IS!
Energy Follows Intention:
Have clear mantras (intentions) when giving Reiki and always focus on the highest good for all involved.
Two of my mantras:
1) I now overflow more universal life force/ love energy in a healthy, whole way for the highest good of myself and
the children of light.
2) I do not take on any energy from any person or place that does not vibrate with love or is not for my highest
good.
4
Level 2 Symbols and Uses
Many variations have developed since Takata, the woman who brought Reiki to the west. The variations or new symbols
were channelled by Reiki Masters or brought from other traditions. There are three traditional Symbols used in Usui
Reiki Level 2 (CKR, SHK, & HSZSN).
They don’t bring in new energy but offer new ways to focus with the Universal Life force for different and specific
purposes.
About Symbols-
There are varying views on symbols for healing, meditation, or personal development. They are not mutually exclusive
viewpoints, but help us understand how symbols are generally used and understood:
1). Like the forms in sacred geometry or the Tattvas and Yantra Mandalas, the actual shape or form of the symbol
contains the power to wake an ability, create a result, or convey mystical information.
2). Symbols acquire power by being charged with intention (from proximity to spiritual ability, by teachers, by places, or
from repeated use).
3). Symbols are separate from the power itself but exist as tools or triggers that enable you to connect with and use a
spiritual function/ information.
Many believe that the symbols in Reiki have power themselves and are therefore meant to be kept secret. More and
more, Reiki teachers and practitioners are realizing that they are actually more like the second or third variety – a tool to
connect and focus the energy, and something that coincides with the intent in your heart, soul, mind, and spirit.
“If the intent is not there, you may as well draw anything.” (Peggy Jentroft)
In Japan, each symbol is known as a number (e.g., Symbol 1, Symbol 2). In the West they are called by the name of the
mantra, even though the mantra is a separate device. The West focuses mainly on the symbols rather than the mantras
and sees them as very important to the practice of the Western system of Reiki. Over the last 20 years, more and more
people have invented new symbols and created new Reiki systems.
Hiroshi Doi states “searching for more additional symbols or regarding symbols as holy things is meaningless’ 1
The symbols have no power of their own – they merely act as a focus for our intent. 1 (Modern Reiki Method for Healing, Hiroshi Doi, Fraser Journal Publishing, 2000 p. 94)
“Progress comes to those who Train and train; Reliance on secret techniques will get you nowhere” - (Quoted by Morihei Ueshiba from “The Art of Peace” by John Stevens)
Though all symbols are translatable, their technical meanings are less relevant than the vibrations that are invoked with
their use. Meaning ties us down to everyday associations. By following the vibration of the sound, we can cut through
these mundane thoughts and reach a space of silence. (Quote from Bronwen and Frans Steine, 2003)
5
Professional Practice and Ethics:
Due to the nature of remote/distance healing and mental-emotional energy work, there is a need for more
emphasis on ethical issues in the second level than in the first.
• Always get permission: You may send the treatment as an offering which the person receiving it is free
to accept or to refuse, or you can ask them for permission. If receiving direct permission is impossible- you can
ask on soul level, you will be able to tell if the energy is accepted or refused.
• Never force a healing on someone: You cannot decide what is best for another, nor to impose your
will, a healing, or a cure on someone. We all have free will.
• Never diagnose: Do not give medical instructions and never suggest that anyone discontinue medication
or other treatment. If you are unsure about a condition, ask them to talk to their doctor.
• Client Confidentiality: Do not share with others what you learn during a treatment, either from the
client or from your intuitive findings. When repeating an experience for case study purposes, ensure they
cannot be identified.
• Honour the Energy: Allow the energy to work without judging the effectiveness or results. When you see
dramatic effects from a treatment, remember that you are the vessel of the Universal Life Force, honor this.
• Professional Boundaries: It is imperative that you be alert and sensitive to the proximity of your hands
to another’s body in a treatment.
Understanding that there are varying degrees of comfort with being touched- this is a very important
and sensitive topic, and the utmost care must be taken to upholding your integrity in this matter. Learn
more about the effects of trauma on another, as well as cross-cultural variations in contact / proximity,
and incorporate into your practice.
Ask the client how comfortable they are with your hands on their body- Always avoid private areas,
some people have had past or present life trauma around their throat, so it is nice to hover and give
space, not place hands directly on the throat.
• Maintain professional client files.

Introduction to SHK
Sei Hei Ki (The Person and God are One)
SHK is pronounced ‘say hay key’, and is used to facilitate emotional and mental healing, and
self-programming. It is associated with the moon and emotional cycles.
It is used when treating:
• Addictions
• Habits
• Painful memories
• Anxiety
• Grief
• Other emotional / mental concerns.
SHK is also called “The Harmony Symbol”, or “Mental / Emotional Healing Symbol” and
functions to restore psychological and emotional balance, by balancing the right and left sides
of the brain.
Some other key aspects of SHK include:
• Engages emotional body to heal with the gentle energy of love and harmony
• Opens, clears, and releases (person, place, social construct)
• Increases sensitivity and acceptance
• Helps with understanding relationships
• Brings up and heals the emotional issues beneath physical health issues.
• The purpose or function is for healing and releasing the feelings, desires and conditioning
that keep us in negative patterns.
In a session, the Mantra for SHK is:
“The key to the universe is the person and god becoming one”
7
Drawing the SHK Symbol Sei Hei Ki is drawn from the bottom left towards the right, and then across the top from left to right.
There are several variations- both can be used with equal effectiveness, practice each, and use whichever you
feel matches its mantra “The key to the universe is man and god becoming one”. (From original J. Onley Reiki 2 Manual, as provided by her Master)
Practice drawing the SHK symbol, connecting with its name and mantra.
8
Introduction to the Mental Emotional Healing Technique
After the connection to Source has been created with CKR and the treatment has begun, you may
have a calling to apply mental / emotional healing to a particular area of the client’s body, or to their
entire body.
Examples include:
• The area is hot, dense, or otherwise more intense, and applying a concentrated CKR does not
balance the energy.
• You have a flash of “feeling” located behind an area of the body, giving you a sense that emotion is
locked / blocked there.
• The SHK symbol, name, or mantra flashes in your mind.
In this case, trace SHK over the part of the body seeking the healing, or visualize it beaming into the
client’s body.
“I find it very helpful to meditate while beaming the Reiki, on the meaning of the symbol “Man and
God becoming One” – and visualizing the client merging with God / Creator for their highest good. I
often ask, “where is the healing in this, for their highest good?” – and the Reiki will offer messages or
affirmations that will support them in their process.
Your intuition may raise troubled memories or feelings which the person is processing, in which case I
would bring in the HSZSN symbol, repeat the SHK and CKR symbols, and look at healing old patterns /
thoughts / feeling, for their highest good.
During the debrief after the session, I have found clients to be particularly grateful of having detailed
session notes of the experience from my point of view. For this reason, I highly recommend taking
detailed notes of your findings from the healing journey with another.”
– Melanie Ollenburg, Reiki Master.
“The Sei Hei Ki allows us to face problems, to feel the appropriate emotions and then to let go of
them, forgiving ourselves and others. Mental illnesses, such as depression, can begin to eat away at
our physical selves. Even though it is not something physical, we can see clearly that it has an effect
on our entire well-being. We need to understand that our mental, emotion, physical and spiritual self
are all connected, when one is not in balance, it effects all levels of our beingness.
The Sei hei ki balances the right and left side of the brain and restores balance, bringing peace and
harmony. It can also be very helpful in relationships by going the source of the problem, allowing us
to recognize that the problems we face are caused by no one else but ourselves.”

Other Uses for SHK
Balancing the Chakras: Use SHK to bring balance in the Chakras with the intent that the emotional and mental issues be
balanced and healed. End by wrapping the client in SHK. Clients often report feeling light, and having their despair and
stress lifted.
Self-Care: Place your hands on your head and think of the SHK symbol, and it will tend to bring you back into balance. It
heals on higher levels of consciousness and works more in the aura field than on the physical body.
Headache: Often a headache stems from emotional or mental tension, so applying the SHK directly to the head / area of
the headache- this is great for dissipating headaches.
Bad Vibes / Protection: “Bad vibes” exist on the mental and emotional level, so you can use this symbol as a form of
psychic protection. Simply draw it on yourself, repeat its mantra, and state “I protect myself now with divine love and
wisdom”. Use the symbol on each side of you, behind, above, below and in front of you, and repeat the words. As you
do, you should feel the protective energy surround you. It will also tend to harmonize any negative vibrations that will
be coming from others.
Improve Memory: If you’ve lost something, take a moment and place your hands on the top of your head and use SHK
there. Repeat “I will remember where I placed xxx within one minute”, relax, and allow your conscious mind to align
with the memory and resurface.
Reinforcing Positive Change: In mental healing Reiki works with the consciousness by transforming negative influences
into positive ones and removing energy blocks. Reiki works on areas of the mind where we hold our programming,
conditioning, and the causes of problems / illnesses.
A stumbling block in mental healing is the client’s belief system – if the person does not want a cure, they will mentally
resist healing. You cannot force healing or dabble with another person’s mind. Keep focused on what the client has
predetermined as their intention for the healing session.
A process / technique for reinforcing positive change:
1. Decide with the client on affirmation / positive result required.
2. Place your hands on the shoulders and relax the client for 1 or 2 minutes.
3. Remove one hand, keeping the other in place, and slowly trace CKR above (not directly on) the cranium while focusing
on the symbol’s mantra / name. Repeat as many times as needed.
4. Replace hand on shoulders for up to 5 minutes or until the Reiki tapers off. Be aware of any images you receive.
5. Place your hands-on Reiki Head Position (top of head) and relax with the client for 2 minutes.
6. Remove one hand and trace the SHK symbol above (not directly on) the cranium while focusing on the mantra / name
of the symbol and any affirmations you’ve agreed on with the client. Repeat as often as necessary.
7. Replace hands on head and repeat sequence from (1) but substitute SHK for CHR.
8. Finish after 15-20 minutes, using CKR to end the session.

An Introduction to HSZSN
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (No past, No present, No future)
HSZSN is for sending Reiki “hands-off” – for absentee healing, or for healing past issues including past-
life issues. It is associated with the sun and its life-giving energies. Used often with other symbols,
HSZSN is used to connect to people, locations, thoughts, and circumstances (e.g., natural disasters)
which are distant in time, place, or memory.
• Distance Healing Symbol
• Engages mental body
• Opens, clears, releases (as with SHK)
• Moves beyond time and space
Mantra and Meaning
Literally, HSZSN means “no past, no present, no future”.
Its mantra is: “The Soul Self in me reaches out to the Soul Self in you to promote enlightenment and
peace”.
Variations of this mantra can include:
• “The Buddha in me reaches out to the Buddha in you...”
• “The Christ in me reaches out to the Christ in you…”
The important thing is that when you are connecting with the energy of this symbol, that you visualize
yourself in your highest spiritual form (Christ, Buddha, Soul Self, Goddess, etc.) reaching out to the
person’s self in their highest form, to work together to promote enlightenment and peace.
11
Drawing HSZSN
While the symbol certainly looks more complicated than CKR and SHK, with a little practice you’ll be able to
use it with grace and ease.
The image depicted here is directly from our lineage- Melanie Ollenberg’s master teacher, Judith Onley’s Reiki
2 Training manual, and outlines the meaning of each part of the symbol:
12
HSZSN - Symbol Variations
There are several variations to the symbol, and all of them work. You can cruise the literature and internet for some of
the other varieties, but I’ve listed a couple here for you as well. In your own time, try them all repeatedly, and see what
resonates - Fill pages, do artwork, chalk, pastels, you name it. Practice and feel it out – remember it is all in the
intention.
“The Soul Self in me reaches out to the Soul Self in you to promote enlightenment and peace”.
13
Distance Healing Techniques
This symbol is sent to interact beneficially with situations in the past or the future, in this and other lifetimes.
HSZSN Remote / Absentee healing can bridge time and space so you can send the energy. Distance does not
interfere with reception.
Below are a variety of ways to send a distance healing:
In your own time you can continue to practice, and journal your experiences: There are many ways to do this:
1. Draw the symbols with your hand or third eye, say HSZSN, and use SHK as needed, and “Beam”: imagine the
Reiki radiating out from your hands – either raised (or not) towards the person receiving.
2. Use a photo, drawing or person’s name written down as a focus. Draw the symbols over the photo with the
intention of sending Reiki to {state their name} and place your hands on the photo or paper doing the hand
placements or simply holding the photo.
3. Imagine the person as laying on your lap and direct the energies as though they were on a table. You can
also use a teddy bear / doll, mentally going through the hand positions or sending the Reiki with the intention
that it go where needed.
4. Write the person’s name on a piece of paper and hold between your hands, in Gassho (prayer pose), and
send Reiki. Create the connection and ask Guides to help you do the treatment while you hold it.
5. Visualize them in the room before you and simply do the treatment or imagine you’re in the same place
together.
**Always intend that the person has the right to accept, refuse or observe the energies. **
14
Additional Healing Processes and Techniques:
• Healing Events / Circumstances
• Death and Grief
• Karmic Release
• Healing the Root
• Manifestation Triangle
Healing Events / Circumstances
When healing a situation (e.g., car accident, family block, community / organizational issue), use the following
technique. The issue will come to the surface and release associated emotions / thought forms:
• Connect with Reiki as you normally would, using CKR
• Visualize the Reiki energy in a ball, surrounding the situation
• Repeat the affirmation
Observe your experience, and the issues that arise in your mind’s eye about the situation. It may be something that
doesn’t seem related at all to the situation at hand but trust the connection.
Death and Grief
While sometimes people receiving Reiki may have a prolonged life, more often than not it will not prolong a person’s
life. You can however support the dying individual in a number of ways, to help them pass in peace:
• Releasing pain and emotional turmoil
• Recognizing and healing unresolved issues
• Connecting with Divine energy
• Releasing fear and anger associated with the illness / other factors.
Reiki can also help support the family members once their loved one has passed on.
Karmic Release
There is some debate whether HSZSN can be used to actually change the past or future (some believe yes, some no), it
can certainly help with releasing traumas, or comforting the past self with the presence of your Higher Self / Soul Self.
The process can look like this:
• Connect with Reiki and your intention
• Focus on that period of life (or past / future life)
• Connect with your Soul Self with HSZSN, and ask for support in this
15
• Trace CKR & SHK, repeating their respective mantras
• Trace the HSZSN and “send” to your Soul Self / that place and time
Healing the Root
It is important to heal issues at their root / point of origin, as the issues stemming out from that original issue will
resolve themselves as well. During a session, visualize and intend that you are healing the root of the matter.
You may, with the use of HSZSN and SHK, experience past-life recall, through which you can send the Reiki to that event
and obtain results similar to “soul retrieval” (retrieving and healing the fragments of a person’s soul, so they are safe and
whole) and “etheric healing” (using Reiki to balance chakras and energetic bodies).

Reiki Session Techniques
Session Preparation and Flow
Whether giving a seated brief 15-minute chair session or a longer session on a treatment table, it is helpful to take some
time to think about the flow of the session. This involves preparing the room, yourself, and the client for what will
happen.
Before the Session:
1. Have room prepared (sacred space, notes sheet, journal, music, sage smudge, charge the room with CKR etc.).
2. Wash your hands.
3. Be personally prepared to focus on the healing at hand. Taking time in Gassho focusing on CKR and its mantra
can help with this or practice the Reiki Shower Technique.
4. The recipient may become cold. You should have a light blanket available to cover them if needed. A pillow or
pillows is useful for arranging for maximum comfort particularly when treating the back.
When the Client Arrives:
1. Greet them professionally with confidence and care.
2. Handle any monetary or bartering transactions before getting started.
3. Explain your background and style. Ensure that the person has a basic understanding of Reiki and the flow of the
session.
4. Stress the concept of partnership in healing and have them set an intention for the session.
5. Ask questions and engage in discussion in a friendly, nonjudgmental manner.
6. Describe what you plan to do and ask permission for any physical contact.
7. Ask the client if they have a preferred type of music for the session, or if they would prefer silence.
21
During the Session:
1. Take notes to ensure an accurate memory of what was discussed and what occurred.
2. Sometimes emotional clearing during a treatment results in the client crying. You should have some tissues
handy just in case. If you get the sense that giving them tissue may disrupt the release, wait until the time feels
right.
3. A recipient may feel that your hands are too hot or feel pain or discomfort in some other way. If this happens
ask if they wish to stop the treatment or continue. Most people will choose to continue and may feel a healing
release. If someone wishes to end the treatment early for any reason, then stop giving Reiki.
After the Session:
1. Ground the energy after a session and ensure the person is ready to leave on his or her own if an escort is not
available.
2. Take final notes and hold a debriefing discussion after the session.
3. First ask the healee if there is anything they would like to share then inform the individual of any messages you
received.
4. Describe any “homework” you want him or her to do and make plans for any follow-ups that are needed.
5. Thank the person for participating in the session and for working toward his or her own healing.
6. Say good-bye in the same professional manner you greeted the person.
7. Clear the room and your energy before moving on to another session (wash hands).
Giving a Seated Chair Session
1. Gently lay your hands on your client's shoulder.
2. Gently lay your hands on the top of the head.
3. Lay one hand on the occipital ridge (the area between the back of the head and the top of the spine) and the
other on the forehead.
4. Lay one hand on the seventh (protruding) cervical vertebrae and the other in the pit of the throat.
5. Lay one hand on the breastbone and the other on the back at the same height.
6. Lay one hand on the solar plexus (stomach) and the other at the same height on the back.
7. Lay one hand on the lower stomach and the other at the bottom of the back at the same height.
22
Gyoshi Ho
Gyoshi Ho is the technique of sending Reiki energy through looking at the person.
• "Gyoshi" means "look"
• "Ho" means "technique"
In this technique, gaze at the person receiving Reiki with relaxed eyes, seeing the whole person at the same time. Gaze
softly and breathe deeply for about 5 minutes, sending Reiki to their entire being as though you would do so with your
hands (this is the usual duration for Gyoshi Ho).
Healing energy flows through your eyes and this is simply the connection to Source / God, with the intention to give
Reiki.
GASSHO
Gassho means to put the hands together. It signifies the oneness of Buddha and all beings. It also expresses reverence
and gratitude. The palms of both hands are placed together with the fingers and thumbs extended. Both elbows should
be fairly close to the body and the hands should be at mid-chest level. To bow during the gassho, the hands should be
held steady, while the body is bent forward from the hips and then back to the upright position. Gassho is the natural
expression of reverence and gratitude.
Opening a Reiki Session
Guiding Someone into a Treatment Tips:
• Say what you feel is best, say what you would want to hear, say what you sense this individual needs to hear.
Guide them to breathe and relax.
• Guide the person to allow what happens to happen.
23
• Some key points: Let their mind think, encourage them to feel what they feel, encourage them to sleep, cry, talk
if they need to, let them know that they can certainly move if they need to.
Guiding Someone Out of a Treatment Tips:
Follow your inner guidance, perhaps touch the person gently on the shoulder saying: "Take a few deep breaths, soak in
the energy and take your time, our treatment is complete, gently open your eyes when you feel ready."
A step-by-step process could be:
• Let your eyes stay closed.
• Feel your breathing easy and deep.
• Feel your mind relaxed, balanced and clear.
• Feel your physical body, bones, muscles, hands, feet. Even through your eyes are still closed, feel yourself looking out through them. Feel yourself wearing your beautiful earth body like a lovely garment.
• Feel the table under you, how solid it is.
• Gradually become aware of the outer world -- listening to the sounds -- remembering what it looks like.
• Take the time you need and open your eyes when you're ready.
Disconnecting at the End of a Treatment
Our intent is to channel what the person needs as they live their healing path toward empowerment. We do not want to
encourage dependent relationships. It is important to disconnect, for your sake and for theirs’s:
• So, you don't carry the other person's energy with you.
• So, they can sense themselves and the effect the treatment has had.
There are many ways to do this. One example is to see yourself and the other person as two interconnected rings or
circles and see them disconnect and become separate. It is also recommended to sage smudge if possible and to place
your hands under running water.
24
Balance technique from Kundalini Reiki:
Use this technique for yourself to bring balance, after treating yourself with Reiki or to complete a Reiki session on
someone else to balance all the energies. Simply hold the finger tips together and think and intend: “BALANCE.” You
only have to do this for a short time, but the energy will continue to balance itself.
25
Manifestation Triangle
This is a concrete tool for focusing on a goal. Using the diagram below, write simply and concisely:
• The person’s name
• What you want to have happen (solution for the highest good) and
• The current/problem issue to heal.
The Manifestation Triangle
Once your triangle is complete:
• Draw the Power Symbol, CKR over each corner
• Draw the Power Symbol over the whole triangle and
• Place your hands on the triangle while sending Reiki (SHK / HSZSN if appropriate) and intending it to manifest.
26
Ways to integrate Reiki into your self practice or teaching! Empower your yoga practice with Reiki—a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes
healing. Many of us practice yoga to feel better, and Reiki provides a lot of the same feel good benefits as yoga since
they both work on the nervous system. When you begin to unravel your nervous system, life starts to feel better, it’s
easier to breathe deep, enjoy the moment and act instead of react.
When you practice yoga, you are on a metaphysical level anchoring higher dimensional energies of light into your
being—Universal Life Force Energy. Many of us know that Yoga means to yoke or unite. You are uniting with source, that
which you truly are, but in these human bodies it is easy to feel separated from source and I think that causes more
stress then anything else.
When you practice yoga, you feel reconnected with the source you are ultimately always connected to, Reiki does the
same thing. Reiki allows you to unwind so that you can experience and integrate universal life force within your body to
embodying the light of the One, the light that you are!
I believe that Reiki is the energy of love and love isn’t really a feeling, its more of a presence—a presence that stays
with you no matter what you are feeling. Love is the ultimate healer and the balm that soothes all wounds.
Reiki is a beautiful way to make your yoga practice even juicier! There are many powerful Reiki practices including
meditations, visualizations, symbols and more that you can incorporate into your yoga practice or teaching to help
yourself and others deepen into the light of love consciousness, Reiki.
Reiki Practices for Yoga:
Everyone is made of Universal Life Force Energy—Reiki energy. You do not have to have studied or been attuned to Reiki
to try these practices!
Developing Hand Sensitivity:
Count three to six deep inhalations and exhalations while you rub the palms of your hands briskly together, as if you
want to start a fire in your palms.
With eyes opened or closed on the exhale of your choice slowly separate the palms a few inches while keeping the
hands gently cupped. If your eyes are open look in between your hands.
Feel the energy bounce between the two palms. If you like you can make this energy into a ball by slowly moving your
hands in a circular motion and then brining the healing energy ball anywhere into your body you feel called.
Self treating in Shavasana or relaxing yoga postures:
Place your gently cupped hands on your body anywhere you like. Silently in your mind or out loud begin to repeat the
mantra: Reiki, Reiki, Reiki, Reiki, Reiki.
Keep repeating Reiki and begin to visualize pure positive love energy flowing down from the crown of your head,
through your neck, shoulders, arms and out your hands into your body. Keep breathing and softening your body as you
allow yourself to relax into the energy.
Stay with a mantra— as that is the intention directing the energy, you can continuously repeat Reiki, Love, Balance or
any other mantra that keeps you tuned into the flowing energy.
You can do this for a few minutes up to an hour. Feel free to move your hands anywhere on the body you feel called.
Some people like to give Reiki to all seven main Chakra’s or you can work on an area of pain or anywhere you feel
intuitively drawn to.
27
You can give reiki to your students while they are in shavasana or a restorative yoga posture.
Trace CKR and then SHK and cup your hands over their eyes or ears and spend a few minutes spending Reiki and seeing
their whole-body bathing in light.
Incorporate one of the Reiki Meditations into the class or use the Reiki Shower Techniques from Mountain pose.
There are many ways to incorporate Reiki into the Yoga Practice.
Another great way is to trace CKR around the room before and after class to charge and clear the room!
28
Reiki for Relationships!
“Reiki can be used for healing all kinds of things- from physical pain, to emotional trauma. There are no
limits to it’s potential, because it exists beyond our idea of time and space. Reiki can be sent to the past,
present and future, effectively changing an outcome of an event that has not occurred and healing our
present selves.
It can help manifest our desires into physical reality more quickly. “Where attention goes, energy flows”
Or in the case of Reiki: “Where energy goes, attention flows”. Attention is Energy and Energy is Attention!
You can always send Reiki out to anyone- with permission, nothing complicated needs to take place. Get a
piece of paper and write the names of yourself and the person whom you wish to send the healing energy
to.
Self- Practice -
Find a quiet place, one where you will not be disturbed in. Clarify what it is you would like to happen;
whether it’s to have more understanding, compassion, or better communication – or simply to heal that
which needs to be healed. Fold the paper so that it is small enough to fit in between your hands.
Trace the symbols you are attuned to and allow the energy to flow between your hands, into the paper.
The wonderful thing about Reiki is that it knows exactly what to heal, and will continue to heal, even
when you are not aware of it. Do this as much as you feel; the more the better. We need to understand
that the Reiki Energy is not only healing the external, physical aspects that we experience in a
relationship, it is also working on a very subtle level, with our subconscious.
It begins healing our very beliefs and thoughts that we have of ourselves and of others, changing them to
more positive ones. Very soon we will see this mirrored in our relationships.
The same method can be used with crystals, or other physical objects that are meaningful to the
relationship. It is suggested by other practitioners that you keep your object within view through-out your
day to be reminded of the connections you are healing.
You will find as you give your relationship Reiki- lines of communication will begin to open, which is
necessary in any relationship. You cannot have a relationship without it.
The ways to heal with Reiki truly are unlimited, all you need to have is the intent to heal, and the belief
that it can be healed. Remember: It all starts with you.

Reiki Meditation: Connecting the Three Diamonds
Reiki is written with 2 Japanese kanji, these kanji mean "spiritual energy".
The top kanji is "rei" - means "spiritual" or "sacred" | The bottom kanji is "ki" - means "energy"
In this meditation we are connecting the Earth, Heart and Heaven Ki “energy”
Three Diamonds:
• Earth Ki- In abdomen just below the navel (Hara or Sacral Chakra), Powerful and grounding, this center helps
you feel strong and physically connected and is responsible for our creative expression.
• Heart Ki- The heart center, seen as the point of perfect balance between the Earth Ki and Heaven Ki. The fourth
chakra, Anahata is at the middle of the seven chakras and unites the lower chakras of matter and the upper
chakras of spirit. The fourth is also spiritual but serves as a bridge between our body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
The heart chakra is our source of love and connection.
• The Heaven Ki- The Ajna or third eye chakra is located in between the eyebrows. Ajna is our center of intuition
and inner vision.
1) Sit or laying down with your hands in Gassho (prayer pose), breathe slow and deep and set your intention to
connect to Universal Life Force Energy (Reiki) and the three Diamonds.
2) Bring your dominate hand (1 inches or 10 cm) off the brow point (Heaven Ki) and feel the energy connection. (2
minutes)
3) Dominate hand above the heart, stay until you feel the connection.
4) Dominate hand to Earth Ki or Hara, breathe and feel the connection to the Earth.
5) Slowly repeat in reverse (Hara, Heart, Brow) feel that you are connecting your Earth, Heart and Heaven energy
and stay connected to the Universal Life Force flowing into your head all the way through your hands.
6) Repeat the original process (Brow, Heart, Hara) then leave your hand at your Hara for as long as you like to
enjoy the energy.
7) End in Gassho (Prayer Hands) giving thanks.

Technique of the Reiki Shower:
1) Stand or sit. Make your self comfortable and close your eyes breathe slowly but naturally.
2) Gassho (hands together at chest) prayer hands a symbol of union.
3) Reach your hands to the sky above your head, hands separate as if you are holding a big ball of light. Connect to Reiki
and feel the energy moving down through your hands. Feel the vibrations of the Universal Life Force Energy moving
through your hands and crown.
4) Bend your elbows and intend the Reiki Shower to turn on, imagine each palm is a shower head.
5) Start by showering your crown then slowly move the hands down the front of the body, palm facing the body.
Reiki is emanating from the hands, filling you with light and cleansing. When you reach the legs bring the palms face
down to shower the legs and feet with the universal life force. Then shake out the hands releasing unwanted energy to
the Earth allowing it to be transmuted.
6) Practice three times.
4) Gassho again to finish, give thanks.
Great practice before offering hands-healing to yourself or others.
