The first library was located in the Livingston Parish Courthouse and opened its doors on December 16, 1946. Four regional facilities were completed in 2007. The Library’s Main Branch opened in May 2012 in Livingston. In 2017, the Denham Springs-Walker Branch was expanded to include additional meeting rooms, computer lab, and a maker space. The following branches are operating today: Livingston (Main), Denham Springs-Walker, Watson, Albany- Springfield, and South. The library offers many services to meet the needs of all patrons including circulating materials, public computers, storytimes, book clubs, technology training, and programming across many disciplines. The library has participated in Banned Books Week, Louisiana Young Reader’s Choice, Prime Time, Every Child Ready to Read, and Read Aloud 15 Minutes, and STEM/STEAM initiative. Many recognized authors, artists, and performers have been hosted at the library. Livingston Parish Library often acts as a trailblazer for unique library services, exciting programming for library patrons, and innovative technology offerings. REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) LOGO DESIGN AND STYLE GUIDE DEVELOPMENT

ABOUT THE LIBRARY

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

The Library is accepting proposals to design the organization’s logo and develop an associated branding/style guide. A key component of this project is to understand the attributes of modern library service and to create a graphic that will best communicate the innovative, pioneering nature of Livingston Parish Library. At the same time, the logo / branding should be easily recognized as one used by a public library. A strong sense of community, literacy and 21st century library service should be communicated.

PROJECT OVERVIEW The current logo was introduced roughly 10-12 years ago. The new iteration or design should be created in a way that it will remain the library logo for a decade or even longer.

SCOPE OF WORK

The scope of the project will extend from concept to completion. Design scope to include:

Logo:

• Provide high resolution (600 dpi min) EPS file format layered images of the final approved logos as well as flattened jpeg and pdf formats of the final approved logo.

• To be used in print, web, billboards, banners and signage. • To be created in full color, single-color and black & white.

• Possible Logo Elements:

• Books • Book pages • People • Livingston Parish Library buildings profile

Style Guide:

A set of standards for the design of documents, signage, directional wayfinding signage and any other form of other brand identifier. To be used to ensure complete uniformity in style and formatting wherever the brand is used to ensure no dilution of that brand.

• Color Treatments • Approved Fonts: Print and Web • Design for: Letterhead, Business Card, Department Badges/Shoulder Patches, Community

Information Rack Card (Tri-Fold), Expanded Community Information Brochure, Billboard, Print Ads, PowerPoint Presentation, Secondary Logos for Partners, Event Rack Card (Tri-Fold), Business Recruitment Packet.

• Designer to provide 2 logos and 2 Style Guide design concepts 20 work days after contract award for review and selection of steering committee and before proceeding.

• The steering committee and/or Library Board of Control may make up to 5 revisions of the selected concept.

• Designer to be available for brand consultation for up to 6 hours within 12 months of

the project completion. Consultation means: responding to questions of usage or clarification on style guide.

• The Library will retain copyrights to all images, logos, style guides, designs, color treatments, fonts and templates created by the designer and/or firm.

CONTRACT TERMS

The Livingston Parish Library will negotiate contract terms upon selection. All contracts are subject to review by the Library’s legal counsel, and a project will be awarded upon signing of an agreement or contract, which outlines terms, scope, budget, and other necessary items.

PROPOSAL GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS

This is an open and competitive process for all qualified freelance graphic designers and reputable design firms. Submissions will be accepted until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Proposals received after 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 will not be considered and will be returned unopened. The proposal must contain the signature of a duly authorized officer or agent of the company submitting the proposal.

If the execution of work to be performed by your company requires the hiring of sub-contractors, you must clearly state this in your proposal. Sub-contractors must be identified and the work they will perform must be defined. In your proposal please provide the name, address, and EIN of the sub-contractor.

The proposal shall include the following information:

Proof of Qualifications: • Experience, and Qualifications • Three (3) Examples of your Style Sheet Design Work • Three (3) Examples of your Logo Design Work • Written explanation of one logo design samples and/or how you derived design from

concept to end product. • Three (3) Client Recommendations • A list of staff/subcontractors that will likely be part of the development team

All proposals should be bound in one singular folder (binder or spiral). Designers up for consideration

will be invited to meet with the Library Administration and/or the steering committee the week of March

12-16, 2018. Final award decision will be made within 30 calendar days of the meeting.

REVIEW CRITERIA

Skill/Creativity:

Please demonstrate through the submission of portfolio samples, including assignment and/or speculative projects that demonstrate technical and creative execution, particularly for similar projects. You should also be able to document/demonstrate the full scope of the various services your firm provides.

Resources/Capability:

Please demonstrate through a brochure or other document your business experience, staff skills and experience, clients serviced, projects of note, technical skills, project management methodology, and ability to meet milestones.

References/Referrals:

Please provide a resume of your education, experience and qualifications. Please provide three client recommendations.

Pricing Structure/Rates:

Please provide a comprehensive pricing and/or rate sheet for all potential services you might provide under this RFP agreement.
