Bonshaw Public School
School Captains Report
Hello! For the past term soccer has been very popular in
terms of lunch-break play time. Excitingly Mr Barton has
invested some new soccer gear including two fully-sized
goals, ten brand new soccer balls, two sets of goalie
gloves and a small foam ball for the Kindergartens’! We
also have shin pads coming, more soccer balls and two
different coloured sets of bibs! We are all making the most
of all of this awesome gear and have marked out a field on
the oval. Mr Barton has even started making our sport
soccer so we are all improving our skills very quickly.

Howdy reader! I hope you are well because the students
of this school are really spoilt! We have just received our
STEM kits and we have been learning lots about coding
and robots. The STEM Share boxes were also full with
IPads, and cool robots that we are very ecstatic about
trying out in the next couple of terms. Mrs. Newton has
been teaching us all about the moon, stars and our
beautiful galaxy! We have learnt the phases of the moon,
different galaxies, and the stars that reside inside them.
This is a part of science that we are all very interested in!
Anyway, that’s the way the cookie crumbles!

We have had a busy 3 weeks at school putting
together entries for the Legacy week poster
competition, researching and making
PowerPoint presentations for CWA Poland
competition and continuing on with our
entries into the Macintyre writers
competition, which is due by 14th September.
Students sat the ICAS maths test last week.
The Director of Schools for the Northern
Tablelands, Matt Hobbs, visited Bonshaw
Public School last week and expressed that he
liked the direction in which the school is trav-
elling. He enjoyed meeting all students and
was inspired by their traditional Polish art
and craft.
A huge thankyou to our fabulous P&C who
made a generous donation to cover all
excursion costs for Lake Keepit and $500
towards new readers. We received $500 as
an early readers contribution from the
Department of Education and matched that
with $500 from our budget making a total of
$1500 for new classroom readers. As I am
writing most of the readers have just been
delivered to the school. A combination of
early readers and letter sound PMs for Kinder
and some short reader’s theatre plays for the
older students.

INTERVIEW WITH ELLA RAMSAY
Hello! I interviewed Ella and she has received
some great news from the Moree Zone athletics
carnival. She informs me that she is going to
Tamworth to represent and participate in the
Regional athletics carnival. Reason being
because all her hard work payed off at Moree
when she got 3 first place ribbon’s in running
and 1 second place in long jump. She has been
working and training really hard day after day to
go to Tamworth for her obviously exciting news.
She had received her medal yesterday, for
senior girl champion, after it was collected in the
mail and she has been very ecstatic. Ella explains
how there is about 5-10 schools from each zone
and a truckload of competitors. Thank you for
reading and we all hope that Ella will go to the
next level.
See you later!
