DOUBLE TELESCOPIC CATHETER FOR PROTECTED DISTAL BRONCHIAL SAMPLING.

SIMPLE, FAST, MINIMALLY INVASIVE, AND RELIABLE TECHNIQUE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF NOSOCOMIAL PNEUMOPATHIES IN VENTILATED PATIENTS.

DESIGNED TO AVOID OROPHARYNGEAL CONTAMINATION OF THE SAMPLE.• Provides a reliable specimen representative of lower airways for accurate analysis• Allows direct examination for early orientation of antibiotic therapy • Simple, fast (total procedure lasts 5 to 8 minutes)• Minimally invasive technique • Performed easily by all hospital personnel• Cost effective

1 Usual aseptic precautions (sterile gloves, mask and cap, single use protection gear). 2

Insert Combicath® in locked position (minimum diameter of bronchoscope 2 mm).

3 Pull back the outer sheath (by 3 – 4 cm) using the centimetric markings on the outer catheter (only on the models used for bronchoalveolar lavage).

4Advance inner catheter to expel the plug (or use a syringe filled with 10 ml of air).
