Purple Orchid is called the women’s self-care company rather than health-care company because we are committed to the idea of looking after ourselves better in order to enjoy good health for longer in life.
We focus on two ways of achieving that. Sharing information is at the core of our reason for being. Self-care is about being proactive, making decisions about what’s best for us not just during medical treatment but before we even need it, possibly to avoid it. Because each of us knows our own body well.
Purple Orchid specialises in the area of women’s health which is above the knee, below the waist and at the front – that’s the bit people least want to discuss. It’s time to get over that. We created a national awareness day - EveryWoman Day – to acknowledge the extraordinary things that ordinary women manage every day to keep life ticking over despite debilitating conditions. And to raise awareness in order to be able to look after ourselves better.
The cause of vaginal dryness is well understood but not well discussed. We go to conferences where speakers appeal to healthcare professionals to ask patients about their sex lives because patients rarely open the conversation.
Vaginal dryness is a relatively simple condition with Hyalofemme as a simple solution, yet millions of women suffer in silence because they don’t understand what’s going on “down there” or they
think it’s something they have to put up with, maybe just part of getting older. And by choosing this path, their health can deteriorate, and relationships can suffer as pain or discomfort lead to loss of intimacy. The heartache of divorce is too high a price for a problem that can be solved by a moisturiser.
So we need to talk – mothers and daughters, doctors and patients, aunties and nieces can all learn from each other. Gynaecological cancers are discussed less than breast cancer because we don’t want to mention “women’s troubles” – a tag which is still guaranteed to shut down questions and conversation. But women’s troubles can be painful,
life limiting or life threatening. Conditions such as interstitial cystitis, fibroids, endometriosis and infertility are still not well understood.
Women can be stuck with these problems for life. Sharing information can reduce feelings of isolation and quality of life can be improved by talking about what works, what makes things worse and how to cope with the debilitating effects. Just getting through each day of challenges, pain, exhaustion, depression and other difficulties can

Statistics about vaginal dryness are disturbing...millions of women suffer in silence because they don’t want to ask for help, are embarrassed, or perhaps don’t know that they don’t have to just shut up and put up with it. But there is a simple solution – and it’s different to any other product.
Whether the dryness is brought about by natural or medical menopause, childbirth or any other hormonal disturbance, Hyalofemme can make it better. It is hormone free but has been proven to be as effective as oestrogen cream in relieving symptoms such as itching, burning, soreness or pain during sex4. And 88% of women said in a survey that Hyalofemme improved their symptoms3. Hyalofemme doesn’t just put moisture into the vagina like other products, it puts it right into
the cells. It is uniquely formulated with patented Hydeal-D, a Low Molecular Weight version of hyaluronic acid. Its LMW allows it to cross the cell membrane then attract and bind water. Applied once every three days, women can often return to a spontaneous sex life without the need for lubricants.
Well tolerated and paraben freeHyalofemme is made with an optimised version of hyaluronic acid. HA is found naturally around the body – in the skin, around the joints and in the vagina. That’s why women say Hyalofemme feels like natural moisture in the vagina, and why side effects such as discharge are extremely rare. Since some people have concerns about paraben preservatives and prefer to avoid them, Hyalofemme gel is paraben free.
Fast acting, long lasting – may reverse atrophy by entering cellsThe hyaluronic acid in Hyalofemme is optimised into a patented Low Molecular Weight version called Hydeal-D. It has superior muco-adhesive properties, helping its effects to last longer. In one study, the amount of Hydeal-D still adhering to the mucosa after the last cycle of washing (saline solution) was 30% more than unmodified hyaluronic acid6.Unlike standard HA which is a salt which just sits in the vaginal cavity. Hydeal-D molecules are esters, small enough to cross the cell membrane. Once there, Hydeal-D hydrolisis to release the initial HA and hydrolyses into HA to attract water – 1g of HA can bind 3 litres of water. This plumps up the cells themselves and restores their turgor. Data suggests that Hyalofemme may actually be effective in the reversal of vaginal atrophy7.
Helps heal microlesions and prevent infection/inflammationHyalofemme induces vaginal epithelial cells to release antimicrobial peptides via activation of Toll-like Receptors (TLR2 and 4), helping the repair of micro lesions caused by friction and helping prevent infection7. Hyaluronic acid binding to the cells yields several effects, including proliferation, motility and angiogenesis7. Menopause brings an increased risk of infections because vaginal flora and pH are disrupted by loss of oestrogen. As well as Hyalofemme being beneficial for improving the postmenopausal microecosystem8, it acts as a free radical scavenger, protecting against cell damage.
Cost effectiveA 30g tube of Hyalofemme is enough for one month if used once every three days as recommended. This makes it an extremely competitive and cost-effective hormone free option for the relief of the symptoms of vaginal dryness.
