Last season’s returning point-scorer opens season as the starter at forward. Creative and sublime attacker serves as a nice comple-ment to power game of Jen Stoltenberg. Can also drop back to attacking midfi elder.

Career Notes: Tied for fi fth in career assists with eight.

2007: Led Oregon in scoring 16 points (5 G, 6 A) while playing in all 20 matches (17 starts). Tied for the team lead in goals. Her six assists was tops for the Ducks and was tied for eighth in the Pac-10. Led team in shots with 54 (eighth in the Pac-10). Half of her at-tempts (27) were on net. Had big games in wins versus Illinois State and Gonzaga. Netted two goals with an assist in 5-1 win versus the Redbirds, where she also attempted a career-high eight shots. Had one score and a school-record tying three assists against Gonzaga. Also recorded goals against Portland State and Arizona. Assisted on Jen Cameron’s game-winner against UC Riverside. Also assisted on Jill Jensen’s score at Illinois State. Against Gonzaga, her three assists came on scores by Dani Oster, Danielle Sweeney and Darcie Gardner. Also assisted on Jensen’s score at Oregon State.

2006: Played in all 20 games, starting nine. Two assists for two points and 18 shots on the season. Assisted on Allison Newton’s goal versus Iona and Nicole Garbin’s score against Nevada. Four shot attempts against Portland State. Three shot attempts at Port-land.

High School: KingCo MVP as a senior at Redmond High School. Also named to the all-state team. Three-time all KingCo fi rst team selection. Played club soccer for Maple Valley Maraud-ers. Led her U-15 Olympic Development Program team to region-al and national championships.

Personal: Born Teresa Ann Bowns on April 16, 1988, in Fort Campbell, Ky. Parents are Nick and Maureen Bowns. One of eight siblings, has two brothers and fi ve sisters. Three older siblings have gone on to play college sports, including Joanna (soccer, Mon-tana), Rebecca (soccer, Great Falls University) and Gabe (basket-ball, Central Washington). Ranked second in the Pac-10 with 76 saves and ninth with a 1.40 goals allowed average, which ranked second only to her school record 0.82 from 2006. Had four shutouts on the season. Had seven fi ve-plus save games. Opened season with back-to-back shutouts of Nevada (1-0) and Boise State (3-0). Made six saves in a 1-0 loss to eventuall NCAA national champion USC. Had fi ve stops in 1-0 victory against Ari-zona State. Registered nine saves in 1-1 tie at Washington State. matched career high with 12 saves in 0-0 tie with No. 5 Stanford. Named to the Pac-10 all-academic fi rst team and the the CoSIDA District 8 all-academic third team.

2006: Despite missing fi ve games with a broken right hand, set school record with a 0.82 goals against average and posted a 6-1-2 mark in Pac-10 games. Was sixth in the league in goals against average and fourth in both save percentage (.824) and saves per game (4.07). After getting off to an 0-3 start, went 8-2-2 in her last 12 games. Made season-high nine saves in 1-0 loss at UC River-side. Shut out New Hampshire 1-0 on only two saves, but suffered a broken hand late in that contest which sidelined her for the next fi ve. Came back to shut out Portland State 1-0 in double overtime (two saves). Blanked Arizona State 1-0 on a pair of saves. Played both Washington State and California to scoreless draws; had six stops versus the Cougars and four against Cal. Blanking of the Golden Bears gave her the school record for career shutouts with her 12th. Simply brilliant in 2-1 victory over No. 3 UCLA where she made three saves and the Bruins’ lone score was an own goal. Had four stops in season-ending 3-1 win over USC. 2005: Earned Pac-10 all-freshman and all-Pac-10 honorable mention honors following a rookie campaign that saw her set a school season record with seven shutouts. Started all 19 games in net and tied a school record with nine wins. Ranked second in the Pac-10 in saves per game (5.05), tied for fi fth in shutouts with seven and 10th in goals against average (1.71). Her 96 saves ranked sixth on the UO single-season list. Also established UO re-cords by recording three consecutive shutouts and forged the lon-gest scoreless streak ever at Oregon, going 355:47 over the course of fi ve games in September without allowing a goal. Opened the season with shutouts of Eastern Washington (1-0) and Louisiana State (2-0) to earn defensive MVP of the Oregon Classic. Held three consecutive opponents scoreless in mid-September, blank-ing Elon 2-0, North Carolina State 1-0 and South Dakota State 2-0. Earned Pac-10 player of the week honors following that run of games. Got another pair of wins against Nevada (2-1) and Wyo-ming (1-0) to earn MVP honors at the UniWyo Shootout. Made 11 saves in a tough 2-1 loss to USC. Stopped nine shots in Oregon’s 1-0 victory against Washington that was the Ducks’ fi rst-ever win over the Huskies. Made season-high 12 saves against California, which ranks fi fth on the Oregon single-game list.

High School: Two-time team captain led Churchill High School to the 2002 Midwestern League title along with fellow signee Al-lison Newton. Was all-MWL second team and team MVP as a senior. Four-time state tournament qualifi er. Played for Oregon United Soccer Academy (OUSA) club that won the 2004 and 2006 state titles (plus four consecutive trips to the fi nal four) and the 2003 Beaverton Cup. Excellent all-around athlete who always fi nds a way to contrib-ute. Outside defender is not afraid to use her size and athleticism to take opposing players off the ball. Excellent attacking-minded outside back.

Also started against South Dakota State. Struggled after September, ap-pearing in only two games, but rebounded to fi nish the season with strong showings against California and Stanford. Earned a start for the season fi nale versus the Cardinal.

High School: Three-time Washington state 3A fi rst team se-lection and a Seattle Times all-star for Bellingham High School. Three-time Northwest League champs and the 2002 state runner-up. Four-time all-league selection. Team MVP as a senior. Played for the LWYSA Crossfi re club team out of Kirkland, Wash., that fi nished second in the state. Also played for the WFC Rangers. Member of the Washington ODP team. Was also a four-year letter-winner in basketball as Bellingham won league and district titles in 2005. A three-time all-conference basketball honoree. Played for the Bellingham AAU basketball team that won fi ve consecu-tive league titles. State qualifi er in track where she competed in the sprints, relays and the high jump. Basketball and track teams earned state “academic championship” titles. Additionally, com-peted in her fi rst tri-athlon in the summer of 2005, where she fi n-ished third in her division. Also managed to fi nd time to establish Bellingham Bay Swim Team records in the 50 fl y, 50 free, 50 and 100 breast and the 100 individual medley. Not to mention the fact that she was a state qualifi er for DECA, won the NWL Sports-manship award, was the ASB activities coordinator and earned a President’s academic award for excellence with a 3.98 GPA focus-ing in honors and AP classes.

Personal: Born Darcie Rae Gardner on Oct. 24, 1986, in Belling-ham, Wash. Parents are Gary and Sandy Gardner. One older sister, Kaylee, a former varsity track and fi eld athlete at Washington State. Career goal is to “make a difference.” Major is human physiology with a minor in psychology.

2007: Played in all 20 matches with 12 starts. Scored two goals with two assists for six points. Tied for fi fth on the team with 20 shots. Better than half of her shot attempts (11) were on goal. Goals came in 3-2 loss at No. 15 and in 2-2 tie at Oregon State. Assisted on Oregon’s fi rst goal of the season, Tiffany Smith’s game-winner at Nevada. Also assisted on Smith’s game-winner versus Portland State.

Nebraska: Played in 41 games over two seasons for the Corn-huskers and was a member of the 2005 team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Had a goal and three assists as a sophomore in 2006. Attempted 20 shots. Goal came against Loyola. Assisted on game-winning goals versus Oklaho-ma and Wright State. Also had an assist versus Texas Christian. Named to the academic all-Big 12 fi rst team. As a freshman, had a goal and two assists on 18 shots. Goal came in NCAA Tourna-ment second round loss (3-2) to eventual national champion Port-land. Had assists against Minnesota and Kansas.

High School: Four-time all-conference selection at Durango High School. An all-state second team pick as a senior. Also ran cross country. Excellent student who was on the Gold Honor Roll, the National Honor Roll and the National Honors Society. Played club ball for Rio Vista in New Mexico, which required a three drive from Durango. Won four state club titles and the 2001 Re-gion IV crown.

Three-time Mid-Willamette Conference champions as was the league’s player of the year as a senior. Played for the Lake Oswego Soccer Club along with current Duck Megan Watson and won three state club titles.

One of Oregon’s more talented and hard-nosed players should provide a much-needed lift in the midfi eld after sitting out last season with a hip fl exor injury. Productive and healthy spring was a positive start. Intense, winning mentality.

2007: Redshirted the season recovering from a hip fl exor in-jury.

2006: Played in 13 games with 12 starts. Saw most of her time at attacking center midfi eld. Missed seven games due to hip fl exor injury that bothered her throughout the season. Personal: Born Catherine Michelle Brothers on April 7, 1989, in Walnut Creek, Calif. Parents are Roger and Angela Brothers. Two sisters. Major is undecided; interested in education.

her club team, Lake Oswego, to the 2007 and ‘08 state champion-ships. Was invited to the 2006 ODP U-16 national camp in New Jersey. Also played tennis and ran track for Sprague.

Also played for the Fenix 89 Red club team and was invited to the 2006 Super ODP national camp. Won the WIAA Sportsmanship Award at the 2006 WIAA state basketball tournament.

Personal: Born Haley Frances Wilson on April 26, 1990, in Ventura, Calif. Parents are Ralph and Kate Wilson. Three brothers and one sister. Father Ralph played football for San Diego State in the late 1970s. Brother Derek Swafford played in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ minor league system for fi ve years before a successful turn as a wide receiver at California in 2000 and ‘01. Major is undecided.
