Types of Maps

Different types of maps exist for different purposes. Depending on the information being displayed, a particular type of map

will be used

General Purpose Maps (Road Maps)– A map that uses symbols and

colour to indicate major roads for transportation purposes

– Only includes locations that are of interest to travellers. (i.e parks, tourist attractions)

– Often cover large areas but can also be useful in places like amusement parks.

using symbols and colours that shows ALL natural and human features on the Earth’s surface.
