Revit - Conceptual Mass
STEP 1: open Revit _ from the home screen under Families click on New Conceptual Mass _ open the Mass template file
STEP 2: type LL to create a new level _ enter 100’ _ create 2 more levels at 100’ spacing _ press esc twice
STEP 3: from the project browser go to Level 1 _ from the ribbon under the draw panel click on Partial Ellipse _ make it 100’ tall X 20’ wide
STEP 4: continue drawing the shape shown in image 4 _ center the shape over the grid lines
Save the Revit file in your Class-07 / Revit / Mass folder as your initials_class-07

STEP 5: select the shape _ from the ribbon under the Clipboard panel click on Copy Clipboard _ Click on the small down arrow for Paste Aligned _ click on Select Levels _ select levels 2, 3, & 4 _ click OK
STEP 6: go to the 3D View _ rotate the Level 2 shape counter clockwise 45° _ rotate the Level 3 shape 90° _ rotate the Level 3 shape 135°
STEP 7: select all four shapes _ from the ribbon click on the Create Form button
STEP 8: select the entire Form Element _ from the ribbon click on X-Ray _ select the base Profile

STEP 9: from the ribbon click on Scale _ from the options bar click on Numerical _ set the Scale: = 1.5 (Revit is now looking for a base point) _ snap to the center Point of the base profile
STEP 10: select the top Profile
STEP 11: go to the East Elevation _ from the ribbon click on Move _ move the profile up 200’
Add Profile
STEP 12: create a new level at 420’ _ from the ribbon click on the Add Profile button _ add a new profile between levels 4 & 5

STEP 13: go to the 3D View _ rotate the New shape counter clockwise 45°
STEP 14: scale the profile .9 (to make the tower more slender) _ snap to the center Point of the profile
STEP 15: go to the East Elevation _ type WF to change the view to Wireframe _ from the ribbon under the draw panel click on Start-End-Radius Arc _ draw a similar arc as shown in image 15

STEP 17: go to the 3D View _ with the shape se-lected click on the Create Form _ select the front face of the form
STEP 18: drag the red arrow so the form covers the entire top of the tower
STEP 19: select the entire form _ from the ribbon click on Convert To Void _ press esc
STEP 20: save the Mass file _ open a New Project File _ click OK in the template pop-up

STEP 21: Ctrl + tab back over to the Mass file _ from the ribbon click on Load into Project _ click Close in the pop-up window to enable Show Mass
STEP 22: from the ribbon click on Place on Work Plane _ click in the drawing canvas to place the Mass _ press esc twice to exit the place mass command
STEP 23: go to the East Elevation _ select Level 2 _ from the ribbon click on Array (AR) _ from the options bar un-check Group & Associate set the array count number = 49
STEP 24: click on a blank area of the drawing canvas _ move your mouse up Vertical _ type 10’ _ enter
Save the Revit file in your Class-07 / Revit / Project folder as your initials_class-07

STEP 25: go to the 3D View _ select the Mass _ from the ribbon click on Mass Floors _ select all the levels _ Check them on _ click OK
STEP 26: from the ribbon under the Home tab click on the small down arrow for Floor _ select Floor by Face _ close any error messages _ press esc
STEP 27: using a selection window select all the floors _ from the ribbon click on Create Floor
STEP 28: type shortcut SD (shaded view) _ turn on the shadows
Class Assignment 07:Create plan, elevation, & 3D view jpegs of the Tower from Revit _ Assemble them into one 800 pixels wide X 600 pixels high jpeg with labels _ upload the jpeg to your webpage
