To be truly healthy, you must delve into life and be fully engaged in your mind, body, and soul. I realized that years ago when I decided to go into the natural health care field. Our bodies are so remarkable! Given the proper tools, the body has the power to heal itself with the optimum nutrients and healing techniques available. As a natural health practitioner, I look at the whole body, which helps me evaluate the health issues you have encountered. Going the natural route is basically a balance of physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional factors which allow you to live a rewarding, healthy, and fulfilling life. Side effects are very minimal to most natural modalities available, and you can enjoy feeling better in a shorter amount of time. I love to enlighten my clients on ways to become revitalized, refreshed, and renewed while walking the natural path to wellness with me. These natural modalities are an effective and safe way to address a wide range of health issues. My main goal is to show you how you can Make Your Life a Top Priority while giving you guidance on how to stay healthy utilizing specific protocols which correspond to your health issues.

We will also be looking at the importance of your health, which include lifestyle, dietary, and environment, as well as how you handle your stress level. Stress plays an integral part in everyone’s life. How you handle stress can have a huge impact on how you perform in the workplace and how you feel emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Since 70% of your immune system resides in your digestive tract, it is vitally important

to make sure the foods you are eating are absorbed properly in your body. You are what you absorb, NOT what you eat! Digestion is absolutely paramount to enjoying good health and feeling great! Being a certified health and digestive enzyme specialist, I will also help guideyou towards the best protocol.

My goals for a positive outlook on your health are huge, but very attainable. As I guide you to look at the natural healing modalities which include Reflexology, Herbs, Digestion, Homeopathy, Structural Body Work, and Bach Flower Essences, we will find the best program fit for your health needs.

Remember, You Don’t Have To Hurt To Heal.

Conflict occurs when two people have a difference of opinion that hasn’t been resolved. This can happen when you and your spouse disagree over where to go for dinner, whose family to spend the holiday with etc. All of these are normal marital conflicts that can be worked out. When arguments turn into verbal or physical abuse, this isn’t healthy for any marriage. If you consistently attack your spouse with statements like, “I’m sorry I married you,” “you are so stupid,” and “I hate you,” you’ve moved from arguing to abusing. If you throw things at your spouse--pillows, silverware, pictures, etc. (never hit, push, shove, kick, or spit at your spouse) it only leads to more conflict and hurt. Conflict in itself doesn’t lead to divorce. Lack of resolution has brought divorce to marriages. Conflict resolution may sound complicated, but it’s possible. It’s a skill that requires the commitment of both spouses and can be refined with practice.

Hear are 10 things to remember about resolving conflict without fighting.• Deal with disagreements as soon as

possible. The longer the conflict stews, the larger the issue becomes; time tends to magnify a hurt. Ephesians 4:26

• Attack the problem, not the person. Lashing out at your spouse leaves him or her hurt and defensive. This works against resolving conflict. Let your mate hear what the problem is from your point of view. Say something like, “I’m frustrated that the bills didn’t get paid on time,” instead of, “You’re so irresponsible and lazy. You never pay anything on time.”

• Express feelings. Use I statements to share your understanding of the conflict. “I feel hurt when you don’t follow through.” “It makes me angry when you tease me in front of your friend.” Avoid “you” statements like “you’re so insensitive and bossy.”

• Stick with the subject at hand. Most people can deal with only one issue at a

time. Unfortunately, many spouses bring two or three issues to an argument, trying to reinforce their point. This confuses the confrontation and doesn’t allow for understanding and resolution.

• Confront privately. Doing so in public could humiliate--or at least embarrass--your spouse. This will immediately put him or her on the defensive and shut down any desire to reconcile.

• Seek to understand the other person’s point of view. Try to put yourself in your spouse’s shoes, an exercise that can lead to understanding and restoration.

• Set up a resolution plan. After the two of you have expressed your points of view and come to an understanding, share your needs and decide where to go from here.

• Be willing to admit when you’re wrong. Sometimes conflicts occur because one person’s behavior was inappropriate. Be willing to confess and ask for forgiveness from your spouse if you’ve wronged her or him. That process can help to heal the damage in your relationship.

• Remember that maintaining the relationship is more important than wining the argument. Winning an argument at the expense of losing the relationship is a defeat for both of you. Finding a solution that benefits both spouses lets everyone win.

What if the two of you just can’t seem to find that solution? When you can’t get past a specific conflict, seek the help of a counselor. Anger is normal, as long as we seek to resolve the conflict. “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you live at peace with everyone” (Romans 12:18). Instead of fighting, ask yourself: Are you doing your part to reconcile and restore your relationship with your mate.

Resolving ConflictIs It Okay to Fight? In a one word answer, no. That assumes “fighting” isn’t just disagreeing and expressing negative emotions. Those things are inevitable in a marriage. But if fighting is trying to resolve those feelings and problems through abusive behavior, it’s unhealthy.

If you are a person or a family blessed with abundance in any area of your life, I encourage you to open your home and your life to those around you that you know are in need. The Book I read says give and you shall receive. It is amazing what, something so simple as a Thanksgiving invite, can do for someone who is alone and hurting. You might save a life. Or maybe it’s not that serious, you could just enjoy time with someone new and get to know them on a deeper level. We have to remember that we are blessed to be a blessing.

If you are a the one who is alone this year, you don’t have to be alone. It is easy to want to sit in sadness. Maybe you have suffered a loss this year, maybe you have gotten used to just being alone. Don’t be afraid to ask to join or be joined by someone that you love. Take down your walls and accept an invitation. I think you will find that people are just waiting to love on you.

My point is that most of us spend the majority of the year in isolation with just

share the loveFor a lot of people the holiday season is full of joy, laughter, love and family. But for others its a time of mourning, sadness and loneliness.

our family or on our own. We maintain phony relationships through social media and hope that someone actually cares about our posts (our lives). While I believe technology is great, I don’t believe that it can replace face to face contact and communication. We should be breaking bread with friends all year round. How about this year we start with Thanksgiving? Then let’s try to share more, give more and love more throughout next year. I think we will find that we are way more fulfilled and connected than even Facebook could ever make us. Who will you invite to your Thanksgiving table to share the love?

12 Richmond Woman Magazine - where the men might wear the pants, but the women pick them out!

Page 13: Richmond Woman Magazine, November 2013

All holidays include eating, drinking and being merry with our friends and families that we love so much. Unfortunately because our family and friends have learned throughout the years that food equals love, eating healthy around the holidays is challenging to those who are committed to making a healthy life style change. Everyone has their own reasons for making this magnificent change, whether it is to lose weight, look and feel better, or for overall health reasons. Every reason to eat healthier is a great reason!

After years of sitting through these glorious holidays I have found some great tips to help get through this time of year and enjoy each moment of it. • Often people automatically think appetizing means unhealthy.

This does not have to ring true. One simple thing I found is to find substitutions for our higher fat / calorie recipes. Low-fat, gluten-free, or even sugar free recipes are easy to get ahold of and just as easy to make. Especially when it comes to desserts, most guests never believe it can be healthy and taste so delectable. Usually they end up asking for the recipe before the night ends.

• Overindulgence plays a big part of the most holiday rituals. We all find ourselves eating more than we plan especially when mom brings out our favorite dish. When you fix your plate try to go for 80% vegetables and 20% protein and grains. Your digestive tract has an easier time breaking everything down, when you combine the right mix of nutrients. This also helps with that all of a sudden exhaustion we all get after a huge meal mom just made us eat.

• If you are the host for the delightful gathering, look for healthy substitutes. Some simple appetizers would be a vegetable platter with low-fat dressings, warm artichoke and white bean dip with wheat crisps, and a tomato and black bean salsa with baked corn chips. These are all low calorie and low in cost to make.

• Try to have a few different types of low calorie drinks available for your guests. For those who serve alcohol, try a mulled wine or apple cider with a dark rum warmed. Non-alcoholic drinks are just as easy to fix, from infused waters, blackberry and lime moji-tos, to warm apple cider keeps smiles on every ones faces.

• After all is said and done, please do not forget the most important thing, ENJOY THE HOLIDAY!
