Social Distancing- children

Class or group size

Adults and pupils in

school and wider family

groups

The Government acknowledges that early years and primary age children cannot be expected to remain 2 metres apart from each other and staff. The school will make best endeavours to encourage social distancing. Classes will be split in half so that bubble group sizes will not exceed 15 pupils with a maximum of 2 adults during learning time. The school building will be zoned and groups will be using different zones. EYFS, year 1, year 6 and the Key worker group will use different toilets and zones. All bubbles can visit the statue area on an agreed timetable with their teachers. School will close to all Year group bubbles, but not the Key Worker group, on Friday afternoons for teacher PPA. Children arriving at 8.50am will leave at 12.30pm and children arriving at 9.10am will leave at 12.50pm. Key worker children, who cannot be collected, will join the After School Club bubble. Twins will be placed in the same bubble to minimise cross contamination between families.

This is a potential problem so will need liaising with affected parents, so that cross contamination between bubbles is minimised.

Windows will be kept open as much as possible and outdoor learning will be encouraged on a rota with bubbles in the zone. Children will only have contact with their bubble group including at breaks and lunchtime. Children lining up for lunch will follow floor markings when queuing for lunch one bubble at a time. Doors will be propped open to limit contact and to aid ventilation. All teaching and learning areas have an outdoor access point. Break times are staggered and bubble groups will play sports only within their bubble groups. When seating children at lunchtime a maximum space will be left between each pair of children. Bubbles will be seated at different tables and as far apart as possible. Occasionally a child may pass another child in the corridor, which is considered to be a low risk.
