We decided to incorporate a new goal because of the revised curriculum, and the interest in inquiry learning. 1. Will student awareness of emotional-regulation, and social/emotional competence enhance student learning, and hopefulness in the classroom and bullying behaviour be reduced? 2. Will the challenge of personal and authentic learning tasks utilizing the process of inquiry improve student engagement and skills and increase student responsibility for learning? As always, I appreciate your support! Sincerely, Ms. Laura-Lee Phillips We would like to welcome Lucien Genaille to RMES!! Lucien is in Grade 1 and comes to RMES from Brandon, Manitoba, Welcome, Lucien!!

PAC NEWS

Thank you to everyone who participated in our steeped tea fundraiser. We reached our goal of $1000! Holiday gift shop is coming up November 18. Watch for notices to come home. Please talk with your children about who they

will buy for but we encourage you to limit their lists to immediate family to ensure everyone gets ample chance to shop! This year we will be extending hours after school for them to return with permission to shop from what's left or for families with preschoolers who would like to take part in this even.

Keep your eyes open for school spirit wear and pink shirt order forms coming home in the near future as well! Also coming up before we know it will be the science fair. We encourage you to start thinking now about your possible topic.

Is Remembrance Day a statutory holiday? All but four provinces currently make Remembrance Day a statutory holiday. Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and Nova Scotia do not.

What is Poppy Day? Remembrance Day (sometimes known as Poppy Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty.

What year did Remembrance Day start? Remembrance Day. Originally called Armistice Day, this day commemorated the end of the hostilities for the Great War (World War I), the signing of the armistice, which occurred on 11 November 1918 – the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Why is it important to have Remembrance Day? Remembrance Day: Why it's important. Armistice Day is on 11 November and is also known as Remembrance Day. It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918. Nowadays people remember those who were lost in the war by holding a two minute silence, and by wearing a red poppy.
