AstheonlyannualeventinRomaniafocusingonhighereducation,theROMANIAN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY FAIR – RIUFoffersmarketconsciousinstitutionstheopportunitytopresenttheirofferstothebrightestandmostmotivatedRomanianstudentsthatrequirethebestacademicandcareeroptions.Atthesametime,itstrivestoinformandteachthepotentialstudentsabouttheparticularfeaturesofeducationalsystemsindifferentcountriesandthebestpracticesintheapplicationprocess.
The3rdannualeditionofRIUFwasagreatsuccess,achievingrecordattendancefrombothexhibitorsandvisitorsandthusremainingtheeventofchoiceforallthoseinterestedintheRomanianhighereducationmarket.Itattractedover9,500visitorsand121exhibitorsfrom20countries.Morethan2,200visitorsattended27seminarsheldbyuniversityrepresentatives,professionaleducationcounsellorsandRomanianstudents&graduatesofinternationaluniversities.Theeventtookplaceon10thand11thofMarch2007attheBucharestNationalTheatre,intheverycentreofametropolitanareawithapopulationofalmost3million.OrganisedbyEDUCATIVA Group,theeventwassupportedbytheRomanian Ministry of Foreign AffairsandbytheNational Authority for Youth.
RIUF 2007gatheredanextraordinarysupportfromnumerouspartners.Weareespeciallythankfulto:EduFrance / CampusFranceandtheFrench Embassy in Romaniatogetherwithwhomweorganizedthepavilion“France,paysàl’honneur”(France–SpecialGuestCountry),theNational Museum of Contemporary Artthatwasanexcellenthost,theRomanian Association for Social Educationthathelpeduswithalargenumberofvolunteerstostaffourprojectteam,Ms. Cristiana CoposandMr. Mike Costachethatopenheartedlysupportedoureventinverycreativemanners.TheInternationalAdvisoryCommitteeforRIUF2007waschairedbyMr. James Rosapepe–USAmbassadortoRomania(1997-2001)whosuccessfullysupervisedmanyofourgrowthinitiatives.

RIUF2007demonstratedanincreasedinterestofexhibitorsfromallovertheworldfortheRomanianeducationmarket.Thenumbersof
internationalexhibitorsalmostdoubledcomparedtothepreviousedition–proofofthevaluethatthiseventofferstothemarketingandpromotionaleffortsoftheparticipatinginstitutions.
ThethirdeditionofRIUFsawthefirstSpecialGuestCountry–France(apavilionwith32exhibitorsorganizedincooperationwithCampusFrance)-aninitiativewewillcontinuetodevelopwithpartnersfromtheothermainacademicdestinationsofRomanians:UK,US,GermanyandtheNetherlands.
AsRomaniabecameanewmemberoftheEuropeanUnionasof1stofJanuary2007,itsstudentsareconsideredEuropean/homestudentsfortaxationpurposesandassuch,manytuitionfeesarenowmoreaccessibletoalargernumberofpotentialapplicants.ThiswasperhapsoneofthemostimportantreasonsthatledtoanimportantincreaseinthenumberofexhibitingUKuniversities:from7in2006to16in2007.

27% of the visitors have already taken standardized tests such as: SAT, GMAT, TOEFL and others – quite remarkably if one considers that none of these tests are required by Romanian academic institutions.

RIUF2007recordedaboostintheoverallqualityoftheevent,meetingmostoftheexpectationsoftheexhibitors,visitorsandorganizers.Thathappenedmainlybecausewehadtwopreviouseditionstolearnfromandalsobecausevariouspartnersandthird-partieshadlearnedbeforeaboutthisuniqueinitiativeinRomaniaandappreciatedoureffortstoprovideyoungRomanianswithpersonaldevelopmentopportunities,thusmakingiteasiertoimplementvariousinitiativeswehadforthisedition.
EXHIBITORS wereoverwhelmedbytheincreaseinnumberofvisitors(morethandoubletheattendancein2006).Againtheywerevisiblyimpressed,bytheproficiencyofyoungRomaniansonforeignlanguages.Thosethatattendedthepreviouseditionsnoticedthechangesinthegeneralprofileofthevisitors:moreinformed,morefocused,withspecificquestionsandmanyalreadyknowledgeableabouttheapplicationprocessofseveraloftheinstitutionspresentatthefair.
