Begin by marking thelocation of the paver

installation using a tapemeasure and chalk line.

The suspended pallet ofpavers may be stabilized

against twisting androcking using tires orinsulation.Once the pallet is stabilized, cut the pallet banding, removethe cardboard wrapper, and begin setting the RoofStonepavers in place according to the roof plan.

Each order includes oneshim per four pavers. These 1/10 thick shimsare designed to preventRoofStone pavers fromrocking back and forth onuneven sections of theroof.

In our experience, thistypically is more thanenough shims to stabilizepavers. If needed, extra shims may be ordered through yourLiveRoof representative.RoofStone is designed to follow roof contours, and theseshims are not intended to create a dead-level paver surface.

When ready, safely lift thepallet of RoofStone paversto the roof deck.A single pallet of paverscan weigh up to 2,600pounds. Therefore, to

avoid overloading theroof, the pavers typicallyshould not be set downon the roof and shouldremain suspended duringinstallation.

If you need to level the surface over a large low roof area, usepedestals beneath the RoofStone pavers. Place pedestals at

the corners of the RoofStone pavers and twist the pedestal tothe desired height, as you would with traditional pavers.

    Leveling Pavers

Alternatively, insulation may be tapered and layered to leveluneven pavers. To do this, measure and cut insulation to ll inlow areas. Allow for sufcient drainage. Typically, water runsoff through small gaps between sheets of insulation.

RoofStones unique base fully contains the green roof soil,

thus eliminating the need for edging between the products.

Unless it abuts a parapet or building wall, the perimeter ofRoofStone applications must be surrounded with RoofEdge

aluminum edge restraint to protect the plastic base from UVexposure. Failure to protect bases from sunlight will void theRoofStone Warranty.

As an added measure against wind pressure, LiveRoofrecommends that edging be secured to RoofStone paverbases using blind rivets.

Traditional paver / pedestal systems require edging wheninstalled next to LiveRoof modules.

    RoofEdge Aluminum Edge Restraint

If needed rivets can be removed by

    drilling out the center.

RoofStone pavers are designed to integrate with LiveRoofStandard modules, which are 4 deep. If 6 or 8 soil proles

are desired, LiveRoof recommends using a transitional row ofLiveRoof Standard modules between the RoofStone paversand the taller LiveRoof Deep or Maxx modules. Each of thesesystems has the same plastic module height, which allowsthem to integrate seamlessly.

Pavers may need to be cut to t atthe perimeter or around rooftoppenetrations and equipment. For the cleanest cuts, LiveRoof

recommends a wet saw with a 14diamond concrete blade.A piece of tape should be placedover the cut line to preventchipping.

    Multiple Soil Depth Integration

Alternatively, additional paver bases may be ordered to raise

the height of the RoofStone paver assembly. The pavers aresimply placed atop the extra bases and slid into place next tothe deeper green roof modules.

Most chop saws or circular saws will require cuts to be madeon both sides of each paver.

    Cut the concrete top

rst, then ip thepaver over and nishthe cut through theplastic base.

Curved cuts can bemade by makingseveral straight cutson an angle to createthe curve.

To accommodate ridges, low penetrations, or irrigation lines,

notches may be cut out of the plastic base. An angle grinderwith a blade suited to cutting plastic is best for this task. It isideal to remove entire sections of the RoofStone base whenmaking notches. This keeps the factory edges in contact withthe roof membrane and prevents potential damage from burs.

High wind applications may require WindDisc, LiveRoofspatented wind uplift solution. On these projects, RoofStone

pavers must be special ordered, and will arrive to the jobsitewith slots cut into the corners of each base.

    WindDisc for High Wind Applications

Then, push the next row of pavers into place, pressing rmlyon each paver to ensure the discs on both sides fully engageinto the slots. If needed, use a rubber mallet to tap the pavers

    rmly together.

To install WindDisc, start by laying a row of RoofStone pavers orLiveRoof modules. Next, use a rubber mallet to tap the discs intoplace where each corner meets. On uneven roofs, a crowbar orthe back of a hammer may be helpful in lifting pavers to levelslots prior to inserting the discs.
