If you alternate the sewing direction of the strips and press after all the strips are sewn together, you will keep the seams straight. Cut one section to measure 6 1/2 x 18 1/2” . The remainder will be used for the guitar applique. 2) Cut a piece 9 1/2 ” x 18 1/2 ” from the music fabric and sew this in between the two strata section created above. This creates the background for the guitar applique and should measure 18 1/2 ” square. 3) Trace the guitar shapes onto the fusible web, leaving about 1/4” to 1/2” to the long, straight side of the white half of the guitar so that is may be fused underneath the colourful side. Cut apart the shapes and fuse to the appropriate fabrics, as shown in the picture, you may want to first fuse a piece of plain white fabric to the back and then fuse to the web that has the traced shapes. 4) Peel the paper from the backs of the shapes and fuse to the background according to the picture. The white side of the guitar should be underneath the colourful side (which should be lined up on the seam). Using the blanket stitch on your machine, stitch around each shape. 5) Incorparate this block into your quilt or make a wall-hanging for your musical loved one! Design by 18” square

Playing with Colour
