RULES AND REGULATIONS Article 1

- The second edition of the “Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival” Trumpet Competition will take place in Maspalomas (Gran Canaria, Canary Island – Spain).

- The Expomeloneras Conference Palace will host the competition from July 13-14, 2020.

- This competition is a production of the Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival and

the Rotary Club Maspalomas.

- All of the procedures related to the “Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival Trumpet Competition” will be conducted exclusively via the official site www.maspalomastrumpetfest.com

- The Jury, will be composed of international personalities in the trumpet world.

Article 2

- This Competition is open to trumpet players of all nationalities.

- It is organized in a single category, in which candidates cannot exceed the age of 35, completed before January 1 of the year of the contest (2020).

Article 3

- The contestants will perform in a set order determined by a random drawing.

- The drawing will take place Monday, July 13th, 2020 at 17:30h at the opening ceremonies, in the presence of the jury members and the secretary of the Competition.

- The candidates are required without exception to be personally present at this occasion and must bring their originals Idintefication Cards.

Article 4: Program

- The program will be available for viewing on the official Website www.maspalomastrumpetfest.com

- For the elimination rounds, the jury reserves the right to request that the contestant play all or part of the requested program.

- For legal reasons contestants are not allowed to use photocopied or scanned music in performance unless the composition in question is commercially unavailable at the time of the competition.

REPERTOIRE Elimination / Round 1

A. Mandatory (to be played on Bb trumpet):

- Joseph Haydn - Trumpet Concerto in E Flat Major - Movement I (with cadenza). Any edition.

B. Performance of one work chosen among the following:

- Georges Enesco: Légende (International Music Company or Enoch & Cie editions).

- Arthur Honneger: Intrada (Salabert editions).

- Jean Francoix: Sonatine (Editions Max Eschig).

Final Round

A. With piccolo trumpet, performance of one work chosen among the following:

- Georg Philipp Telemann: Concerto in D-Major (1st mov.) (Sikorski editions)

- Johann Friedrich Fasch: Concerto in D-Major (1st mov.) (Sikorski editions)

B. Performance of one work chosen among the following:

- André Jolivet, Concertino (Durand Editions)

- Henri Tomasi, Concerto (Alphonse Leduc Editions)

- Alfred Desenclos, Incantation, Threne et Danse (Alphonse Leduc Editions)

Article 5: Rehearsals

- The organization will have an accompanying pianist available for the contestants.

- For each round, the organization will organize a rehearsal session per contestant.

- Contestants can play with their own accompanying pianist, running with their expenses and being specified in the registration.

- The specific times of the rehearsals will be given by email, after each contestant is

accepted in the contest. Article 6: Prizes

1st Prize

1 – 2000€.

2 – Professional Trumpet.

3 - Paid concert during the 2021 Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival.

4 – Scholarship as a participant in the 2020 and 2021 edition of the Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival.

2nd Prize

1 – 1000€.

2 – Trumpets case Evolution by Bags.

3 – Scholarship as a participant in the 2021 edition of the Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival.

PRIZE Fundación MAPFRE Guanarteme (best canarian interpreter):

Valued at 1200€ , donated by the MAPFRE Guanarteme Foundation, and a concert at its institutional headquarters in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (c / Juan de Quesada, nº10).

Article 7: Jury

- The members of the jury will be composed of internationally renowned personalities in

the trumpet world.

- The list of members will be available for consultation on the official website of the contest . www.maspalomastrumpetfest.com

- The deliberations will be done at the end of each round.

- The jury reserves the right to not award all prizes.

- The jury will be sovereign in their decisions, which will not be appealable.

Article 8 : Applications

- To be admitted to the contest, the application must be completed before June 1, 2020. The limit of contestants will be 20. Once this number of contestants are admitted, no more registrants will be accepted.

- The application process (required documents, payment of registration fees, ...) will be

made in full only through the official website of the festival/contest. Article 9: Required documents

- Completed application on the website: www.maspalomastrumpetfest.com

- A letter of recommendation by a recognized musician/trumpet player/professor, current teacher or director of the center where you study or have studied; written specifically for this contest.

- Scanned image of a recent photograph.

- Short curriculum.

Article 10: Registration Fees

- Applicants enrolled in the Festival: Free.

- Applicants not registered at the Festival: 50€. Article 11: Stay in Maspalomas

- To guide the contestants, the organization will propose on the official website several establishments selected for their proximity to the contest facilities (hotels, restaurants, tourism, ...).

- Accommodation and travel expenses are the sole responsibility of the contestants.

Article 12: Broadcasting

- The contest in all its phases will be public.

- The contest can be recorded, broadcast on radio and/or television without implying remuneration for participants of any kind.

Article 13: Acceptance

- The organization has the exclusive power to decide on the admission of candidates, after having examined the applications thoroughly.

- The list of accepted candidates will be published on the official website of the festival

before July 1, 2020. Those selected will receive all the necessary information by email.
