Happy kids after seeing “A Beautiful Planet”

The festival has grown significantly since the start in 2005. With over 750 000 visitors

last year in 16 countries from South East Asia, Middle East and Africa, the event is one of

the largest science festivals worldwide.

The jury received a total of 181 science films submissions from all over the world, of

which 30 were selected to be shown in the Philippines for this year’s theme of

MATERIAL SCIENCE– understanding how materials are put together, how they can be

used and how they can be changed.

The amount of new materials developed or discovered in different parts of the

world everyday, presents tremendous potentials in changing the way people

Science Film Festival Schedule

The films are mostly shown for free, at schools, museums and other educational venues in

the Philippines. Non-English films are dubbed in Filipino with English subtitles. Please

note that not all venues will be open to everyone as their main focus is on public schools.

The public venues might ask a minimal entrance fee.

The Science Film Festival Philippines 2016 officially opened on November 8, with the

special screening of the film “A Beautiful Planet” at the IMAX theatre, SM Megamall.

The festival runs until December 16, 2016.
