S P R O U T

‘Sprout’ is thought as an experimental intervention based on the idea that by adopting the use of an traditional construction techniques and slightly twisting them new and unprecedented typologies can appear. It is a declination on the use of ‘Superadobe’ construction technique. It consists on the in the use of natural jute sacs filled with a mix of earth and gramineae seeds, arranged in long coils and plastered in the interior faces so that in the course of time the seeds inside the sacs can sprout and a fluff of grasses grow completely covering the exterior faces.

‘Sprout’ invites the visitors to look at ordinary things in a different way, to rethink the basic relationship between architecture and nature using natural materials and plants in order to get closer to the time when human beings first built the artificial structures now known as architecture.

‘Sprout’ is simultaneously a building and a garden……..or perhaps neither of them.
