Parish News:
Coffee & Rolls: St. Margaret Circle will be hosting Coffee & Rolls after Mass this Sunday, August 27. Please plan to join us for delicious treats and great fellowship.
Lectio: Eucharist - Discovering the Mass in the Bible: Jesus said “This is my Body” and “This is my Blood.” Some say they’re merely symbols of remembrance. Others say they’re really the Body and Blood of Christ, but can’t explain how that’s possible. The Eucharist is the center-point of the Mass – but why?
We will begin this Bible Study on Sunday, September 24 at 6:30 pm. In ten sessions, we will open Scripture to deepen our understanding of the mystery and wonder that is the Eucharist – and how it will transform your life. For more details contact Cindy in the Parish office.
FREE Dynamic Catholic CD Resources: Becoming the Best Version of Yourself: Matthew Kelly challenges us to reassess the physical, emotional, intellec-tual, and spiritual aspects of our lives. With the heart-warming charm and humor he has become so well known for, Kelly invites his audience to make one resolution in each of these four areas… and explains how these four new habits can transform our lives.
Raising Amazing Children: As a parent, you cannot control them, but you can encourage, challenge, and inspire them in the direction of a life lived to the fullest.
The Seven Pillars of Catholic Spirituality: If you are not quite sure where Catholicism fits into your life, have questions about the faith, or just need your spiritual life reinvigorated… this one hour CD or DVD is perfect for you.
Resisting Happiness: Resisting Happiness is a deeply personal, disarmingly transparent look at why we sabotage our own happiness and what to do about it.
A Quick Introduction to the Bible: Don’t be intimidated by the Bible. This is our book. It lays out a blueprint for happiness. It helps us understand the heart of God and his incredible dreams for us. This CD will help you under-stand what the Bible is, how to read it, and how to listen to the voice of God in your life.
We are blessed with some amazing resources on the back bulletin table. Please check them out and help yourself to the wonderful books & CDs. Once you have read or listened to them, pass them on to a friend or family member. What a great, easy way to share the faith!

Family Faith Formation
Mark your calendars, we will kick off our Faith Formation school year on Wednesday, September 6 at 6 pm. We will start the night with dinner at 6 pm, followed by classes at 6:30 pm. If you have a student in Kindergarten-Grade 12 who hasn’t attended our program in the past and you’d like to enroll them for this year, please contact Cindy in the Parish office. Our Faith Formation program meets the first and third Wednesday of each month. Remember, our Faith Formation program is not just for the kids, the parents will meet in the Social Hall so they can also grow in their faith. All parishioners are invited to join the parents on this Adult Faith Formation journey.

Making Sense Out of Suffering: Dr. Scott Hahn, makes sense out of suffering by drawing from the wisdom and insight of God's Word. He helps us find the meaning of our suffering by showing us how to unite it to the suffering of Christ on the Cross.

Fr. Steve’s Church Teaching for Consideration: Formation in the Faith
“I will go peaceably and firmly to the Catholic Church: for if Faith is so important to our salvation, I
will seek it where true Faith first began, seek it among those who received it from God Himself.”
-St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (1774-1821)
All around the Northland, the minds of children (and undoubtedly parents!) are turning towards the return to school, which will take place in just over a week. It’s that time of year when we send our kids back to school to learn what they need to grow into mature, well-educated citizens of our society. And so, we pray for all of our students and teachers as they return from their summer break to resume classes shortly.
Along with the return to school this time of the year comes the return of our parish’s faith formation programs. And I would like to speak for a moment about this new year of family faith formation and the opportunities that it presents. First of all, Holy Spirit Church in Two Harbors is reconfiguring its faith formation program to become more of a family-based faith formation program. The parents and teachers are aware of these changes already, but I would like to make sure that all the parishioners are aware. Similar to St. Mary’s in Silver Bay, all classes for all grades of Church school will now be held on Wednesday evenings. Second, instead of meeting every Wednesday, faith formation classes in both parishes will be meeting every other Wednesday, with the two parishes meeting on alternating Wednesdays most of the time throughout the year. Third, we are adding the opportunity for all families who have students in faith formation to come for supper at 6:00 pm on the Wednesday nights that faith formation is being held. Classes then will be held from 6:30-7:30 pm. I would like to announce to all parishioners of Holy Spirit, and remind all parishioners of St. Mary’s, that everyone, regardless of age, or whether or not you have children in the faith formation program, any and all adults are strongly encouraged to attend the faith formation class for the parents which is from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Church social hall at St. Mary’s and in the Church proper (upstairs) at Holy Spirit. The idea is that the parents of the children who are in classes are themselves going to adult faith formation classes and learning about their faith. But I want you to know that all adults are invited to attend those adult/parent classes. The first adult/parent session for St. Mary’s Church is Wednesday, September 6th at 6:30 pm, and the first adult/parent session at Holy Spirit is Wednesday, September 13th at 6:30 pm. I would like to gently challenge our parishioners who do not have children in the faith formation program to consider attending the adult/parent sessions. Why? Two reasons. First, it’s a powerful witness to our parents who will be attending- they will see parishioners making the time and effort to come; it demonstrates in a real way the truth that no one ever finishes learning about their faith, and the mysteries of our faith are so deep that one can always learn more. Second, exactly because all of us can always learn more! We ourselves benefit tremendously from learning new aspects of our faith- indeed, many times God wants to speak to us through what we would learn if only we’d make the effort to come! Finally, I ask all parishioners to please keep the families, children and teachers involved in our faith formation program in your daily prayers. As a parish, we are one big family of faith- let’s support each other by our prayers and example. God bless you! ~ Fr. Steve

God’s Gift to Love Every Body - Saturday, September 30: To Love EVERY BODY will focus on each BODY, created by God, to be loved. In our current cultural climate, we need to reconnect with the foundation of the dignity of the Human Body, in all its forms. The Diocese of Superior with the support from the Diocese of Duluth presents this great event. This event is for all: teens, parents, grandparents, single, married, clergy and lay. Keynote Speakers are Gloria Purvis who recently spoke at the MN Catholics at the Capitol to a captivated audience, and Nic Davidson, speaking on St Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body! Nic’s humorous take will focus intently on what it means to be human and uniquely loved! To register: go to https://catholicdos.org/gods-gift.

A New Opportunity for Parish Involvement: We are looking for people who would be willing to help
prepare the suppers for Family Faith Formation and for
clean up. Neither will be hard as we are planning pretty
simple suppers and are using paper products for serving.
Please call Gwen at 834-2605 or Linda at 834-3568 to
volunteer. Family Faith Formation starts September 13th
and we would need help at about 4:30 to prepare and
serve and at 6:00 for clean up.

Eucharistic Adoration and Votive Mass
October 13 is the date of the last appearance made by our
Mother Mary to the 3 children of Fatima 100 years ago. To
honor that, on Friday, October 13, we will be having 1/2
hour of Eucharistic Adoration with Benediction, a Living
Rosary, and a votive Mass, all starting at 5:30 pm. Dinner
will follow downstairs. Someone will be calling soon for
your help with the Living Rosary. Please say "yes" to help
make our Living Rosary a beautiful gift to honor our
Lord, through his Mother, who tells us to pray, pray, pray
much. Our world really needs our prayers right now.

Coming Home Basket
The basket located in the vestibule (Church entrance)
on the right side is a “Coming Home Basket.” Anyone
who knows of someone who has drifted away from
their Catholic faith is encouraged to write the name of
the person on a sheet of paper located in front of the
basket and place the paper inside the basket. As a
faith community we are encouraged to pray for the
people whose names have been placed in the Coming
Home Basket as well as to encourage those who have
drifted away to return.
Eucharistic Adoration
We have Eucharistic Adoration every Friday 9:00 am
until noon. There is a sign-up sheet in the back of the
church to be certain that someone is always in
attendance during the time of Exposition. If you are
available during this time, please consider signing up
to spend an hour with the Lord in prayer.
Rosary
Our Blessed Mother Mary is pleading with all of us to
pray the Rosary—a very powerful prayer. Besides
praying the Rosary prior to weekday Masses, we also
pray the Rosary at 4:00 pm before the 4:30 Saturday
evening Mass and at 10:30 am before the 11:00 am
Sunday morning Mass. Please join us in praying the
Rosary. If you are interested in leading the Rosary
prior to one of the weekend Masses, please call Linda
at 834-3568.
