selected medical partners who will give preferential appointment times to the SMHS XC athletes.

7. Training Groups

A Large Development Oriented Program requires enough Coaches to provide time and attention to coach your athletes
• In 2013, we will have 5 training groups, each with a coach assigned to that group for the season
• Groups Placement based on several criteria: • Speed (PRs, time trail, meets), • mileage over the summer, • years of experience in running
• Placement in groups will be adjusted throughout the season based on athlete performance and coach observation in practice
8. Practice Schedule
We have weekends off to rest: either complete rest or easy runsAthletes should NOT be racing in local road races between Aug 1- Nov 9

10. Volunteer Expectations

Each athlete is expected to Volunteer for the Triathlon If you can’t make it you must pay $25 to the team. (if the athlete is 14, 15, 16, they must have an adult with them); We have three home meets. We need at least 60 volunteers to help with course set-up, parking, course marshals, finish line, concessions, and water stations.

More Information on each of these will be coming and how to sign up Tammy Weeks is the volunteer Coordinator- Use Volunteer Spot to Sign up
** normally, we would have a volunteer deposit of $100 and
pay it back if you work 3 meets. We are using the honor system this season due to the cost of
new uniforms
*- this is a fundraiser for the team. If you miss the

3. Organize snacks and drinks for the SMHS athletes at home and away meets ____
4. End of the Year Banquet - Tuesday November 19, 2013 Decorations _____ Collect Money _____ Slide Show _____ Senior Gifts _____
5. Photographers at 1 or 2 home & away meets + a few practices (will take 2 or 3 people) _
6. Sponsorship Team to start working on Track Season ___________
7. Coaches Hospitality and away team Hospitality for Sat, Sept 7 Nike-Panther XC Meet **-part of 3 meet expectations
8. Asst. Meet Director for any of the home XC meets Sept 7 ____ Oct 3 ____ or Nov 2 ___ **- part of the 3 meet expectations
9. Loan a Storage Shed/Trailer for the XC Season
10. Ice Runner on Monday/ Wednesday
11. Help put Bark on the Course Late August/ early September
12. Team Dinners during XC Season
• Great way for the athletes to get to know their teammates; usually 50 athletes
• Either 1-2 nights before the meet; 6-8pm• Host provides home • Co-host provides plates, plastic ware, napkins• Parents bring food, rotate what to bring based on last name• Email sent out the week of on what to bring • Need a parent coordinator
• Look for an email coming mid/late August to sign up to be a host/co host

Overview• 60 schools, top NC & SC teams• McAlpin Greenway Park (site of Footlocker South Regionals)• Flat Fast Course with 1 big hill, narrow start• 9am Varsity Boys, 9:30am Varsity Girls, 10am JV Boys, 10:30am JV Girls
Eligibility: • 15 summer training session by August 1st*• Attending practices as of the start of the season (minimum of 3 days as usual)
* there are make up days post August 1st- see Coach Kesterson
Costs: • $70 for 4 to a room; add $25 if you want 2 to a room• Includes: Bus, Hotel, Friday Lunch & Dinners, Saturday, Breakfast & Lunch • FLBC paying for $70 per athlete
Payment Deadline: • August 1st
Sept 7 Nike Panther Inv XC Meet & Nov 2 Region Meet
Sept 7 Overview• 30-40 teams• 5-8 races (2-4 Varsity, 2-3 JV, Freshman)• Time: 7-12:30am• Location: XCHC XC Course at Heritage Christian Church
Volunteer Needs (~ 50+ people) (same for both meets)
• Course Set-up the day before: stakes & Flags (5)• Course Marshals- (18) 2 shifts of 9• Parking- (11) 2 shifts of 6 & 5• Concessions & Water Table (2-4)• Check-in Packet Pick-up (2-3)• Rabbits (bike)- Sweepers in golf carts (2 shifts of 2)
