(1). Undergraduate Contest (REVIEWING PROCESS) (2). Postgraduate Contest (REVIEWING PROCESS) (All Prizes for both categories will be provided by HQ except for PG Contest Winner USD1,000 Travel Grant)

[2] Student Best Website Contest 2004 (REVIEW PROCESS) Deadline: 15th March 2004 (R10 LEVEL DONE, INTER-REG ONGOING)

Two Levels: Region 10 and All Regions Region 10 Level (Prizes awarded by Region 10)

[3] Larry K. Wilson Award 2003 (Best student volunteer of the year) Deadline: 29th February 2004 (DONE)

[4] Outstanding Student Branch Award 2003 Deadline: 29th February 2004 (DONE)

Other Awards/Activities for 2004 (Details are given to each Section Chair and SB Chair each

year) Outstanding Student Branch Counselor & Advisor

Recognition Award - $500 and a certificate, applications to HQ. Deadline 30th May, 2004. [Submit nomination form to [email protected]]

AT&T Award - for a Technical project - run by a Branch, funding up to US$1000 - applications to HQ deadline - 1 November, 2004.

Outstanding Student Certificate - 1 award per 100 members in a Section, on request from a Section SAC to the HQ.

Leadership WorkshopsCan be organized by a Section or a Group of Student Branches. (Apply for partial supporting fund from RSAC)

SUMMARY OF SAC ACTIVITIES IN 2003 AND ISSUES OF CONCERN

Inactive Student Branches – Definition: SBs less than 10 members over a 3-year period (consecutively) 33 SBs are in the Inactive List Of these, 9 SBs have “0” members over the

last 3 years

There are 40 new SBs formed in 2003 Bangladesh: 1, Bangalore: 4, Mumbai:

16, Kolkata: 1, Delhi: 3, Hyderabad: 3, Kansai: 1, Lahore: 1, Madras: 5, NSW: 1, Philipines: 1, South Aus: 1, UP: 1, and Victoria: 1.

GOOD NEWS

• $50.00 or $100.00 allotment• send to Student Branch Counselor upon receipt of annual plan of activities

due 1 November• $50 for membership <50 and $100 for 50 or more

• $2.00 per Student Branch member rebate and $1.00 per Branch Chapter member

• sent to Student Branch Counselor upon receipt of annual report of activities due 1 May

Student Branch Financial SupportHas Increased in 2004

In addition to the direct support to Student Branches, Sections receive a $3.00 rebate for Student members in the Section

At Region 10 each new SB gets a $50 subsidy upon approval and another $50 if it can retain at least 20 members in the second year

In addition Region 10 provides a $1 rebate for each member in a SB (cheque send to Section)

Goals/Proposals for 2004

[1] Students Congress in HK (16-18 July 2004)

[2] Should study Trends in Memberships on SBs and Student Memberships over last 5 years in terms of countries (need to work with MDC and REP)

[3] Set up a Database of all SAC in Councils/SB Counselors/SAC Chairs/SB Chairs of Sections

[4] Organize Internet Discussions with SAC Chairs of Sections / SB Counselors in Sections and SBs Chairs in Region 10
