Peter’s Pence Collection June 30, 2013

The Peter's Pence Collection derives its name from an ancient custom. In ninth-century England. King Alfred

the Great collected money, a "pence," from landowners as financial support for the Pope. Today, the Peter's Pence Collection supports the Pope's philanthropy by giving the Holy Father the means to provide emergency assistance to those in need because of natural disaster, war, oppression, and disease. For further information please visit: http://www.usccb.org/catholic-giving/opportunities-for-giving/peters-pence/ Please prayerfully consider your donation. A special envelope is included in your tithing box.

We would like to thank everyone for their prayers, concern, and many acts of kindness during Gerald’s illness. DuKare

Even though we keep hearing that the economy is improving...there are many who still suffer from pay cuts, less hours, or no job at all. The cost of

essentials is still rising and families are struggling. Your help is desperately needed at the pantry. The next time you do your grocery shopping, put a couple of cans of stew, chicken and dumplings, canned fruit, or a breakfast item in your cart and help a family with a meal. Remember...what you do for them...you do for Jesus!

Recycling Opportunity

Don’t forget that Holy Family now has a new recycling provider. This provider will recycle more types of products. Be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to keep our world’s natural resources for future generations by recycling those products that can be reused. God provided us with many wonderful things, we don’t have to use them all up!

Society of St. Vincent dePaul Yard Sale

Sacred Heart’s St. Vincent DePaul Conference would like to thank everyone

who donated items, stopped by to support us, and everyone who bought a treasure or two. All monies made will be used to help those in our community that are in distress. God bless you all. Maryann Kloesterman and Rose Jordan

Ordinary Time (Green Time)

With the very special seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter over we enter the Ordinary or Green Time of our liturgical calendar. When we think of ordinary, we think of something without a special make up or presence; dull or mundane. However, the word “Ordinary” when used in our liturgical year is anything but dull or mundane. In fact, it is a very special time to grow closer to Jesus. It is during this time that the readings contain parables and teachings from Jesus. It is a very special time to walk with him and, as the Disciples did, learn from him. As you walk with Jesus through this very special season, take the time to listen to him. Don’t roll your eyes and drift off into some other space…stay tuned to the story and ask yourself, “How does this fit into my world? What is Jesus telling me? How can I use this to become a better person for my God?” Don’t miss this very wonderful opportunity to learn from the Master himself...He loves you enough to try and get your attention through stories and parables, so listen and learn. May this green time prove to be a very magical time of spiritual growth for you. Joan Scharf
