Emily Ringwood addressed the audience of Much
Ado about Nothing:
‘On behalf of everyone here, I’d like to thank you all
for coming to our performance of Much Ado about
Nothing. It has truly been an amazing experience,
from the rehearsals to performing for all of you.
It is safe to say that every cast member has worked
incredibly hard to make each of their characters
shine. Everyone has flourished as performers and
hopefully learnt new things about Shakespeare’s
acting techniques. As well as appreciating the hard
work and dedication put in by the cast, I also have to
thank the backstage helpers. From Hannah, Emily
and Jaspar on the lights, to the rest of Year 8, and
Miss Woodhouse and Miss Wookey helping with
props and lines, I am truly grateful for your hard
work.
None of this would have been possible without the
amazing staff who put this production together.
They have all given their time and patience to help
us throughout this whole production, so here are
some special mentions;
Mrs Clark, I can’t thank you enough for the
continuous amount of support and patience you have
with all of us. We are truly lucky to have you as our
drama and English teacher, so to say thank you, here
is a gift given on behalf of the cast:
Miss Williams, you took this production and made it
something that I am positive Shakespeare would
love if he were alive today. Thank you for all the
help you have given to us, and the musical
interludes between scenes.
Finally, Mrs Heale I thank you for your brilliant
sewing on the dresses and costume organisation, you
have really helped to bring our characters to life.
Thank you.’
Emily Ringwood, Performing Arts Prefect
Music Report
This term has been successful for the music
department. Firstly the orchestra have been
practicing many pieces to perform for next term. We
have had people doing solos and duets in prize
giving. We have also had the Shakespeare where
there was a wide variety of music played during
scene changes.
Many people have showed their musical talents this
term, and so are awarded with a certificate. Miss
Williams has chosen the following people.
Eliza McRann for her enthusiasm and contributions
in class. Charlotte Napper for her musical
contributions
Leanna Dorling for her excellent written work,
performance and class effort.
I would also like to award Hannah Turner a
certificate because of her excellent musical
knowledge and great performance at the prize
giving.
A big thank you goes to Miss Williams for making
everything possible, and always giving people the
encouragement to give it a go. The music
department is looking forward to another creative
and fun packed year ahead.
Elizabeth Napper, Music Prefect
Thank you to all those who donated money to the
CAFOD programme in Ethiopia at the Much Ado
about Nothing performance. An astonishing total of
£82 was raised. This means that 3 goats will be
given to those in need and provide them with
valuable resources.
Catherine Hazel, Charities Prefect
Lower School Sports Day
This term has included a variety of different sports,
firstly athletics; many pupils travelled to Cambridge
and UEA for athletics competitions. All pupils
performed really well and we came back with some
very successful results.
The most improved athlete this term is Alex Grapes
in all competitions he has put his all into every race
and has received some excellent results.
The girls have been playing rounders this term and
have participated in some matches where we have
received some very pleasing results.
The most improved in rounders this term is Megan
Watson, who has shown great talent and use of
tactics throughout the matches.
The Year 5 and 6 have played cricket this term, and
have even played a match which for many was their
first cricket match and everyone performed
excellently.
The most improved in cricket this term is Tom Cory
for his great skills and tactics he has shown.
Finally, everyone from the Little Pedlars to Year 10
has been swimming in our lessons which everyone
would agree is very enjoyable! In these lessons
many have found the confidence for swimming they
did not have before or continued to perfect their
swimming technique.
The most improved swimmer this term is Sam de
Silva who has improved his confidence for
swimming by miles.
We have all thoroughly enjoy the sports events these
past few days. I would like to say a big thank you to
Mrs Calvert, Miss Wookey and Mr Hodges for
coaching, organising and supporting us throughout
the year! Connie Wildbur, Sports Prefect

Bewilderwood – Last Wednesday the Little Pedlars
and Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 enjoyed a trip to
Bewilderwood. We all had fun in the sunshine and
the children loved all the climbing, and running
around in the maze. We all watched the puppet show
as we sat together to eat our lunch. All the children
were very well behaved and it was a pleasure to take
them on such a fun day out.
Sasha Fountain, Past Pupil & Volunteer
Goodbye and Good Luck!
Thank you so much for all of your very generous
gifts and good wishes. I shall take great pleasure in
choosing something special to remind me of my
time at Sacred Heart. Not that I really need any
reminders as I have so many memories – mainly
very happy ones – and it is thanks to all pupils,
parents and colleagues past and present and of
course the Sisters.
Sacred Heart is a special place and I wish it – and
everyone connected to it good luck, happiness and
all best wishes for the future. Have a happy holiday.
Sally Gooderson
Farewell to Miss Gooderson (see website), Mrs
Laban who is also leaving for her homeland
Australia and Mrs Leader who is moving to a school
nearer to her home.
Miss Gooderson completes a cycle; she taught Mrs
Riedlinger when she first came to Sacred Heart and
in her latest class was Isaac her son.
Yarn Bombs – The front of the school has become
a riot of colour this week as part of a community
Yarn Bomb project for Swaffham in Bloom. If you
have the opportunity to walk past, take a minute to
look at the creative work of our children of all ages
for this enterprise. Mrs Heale
Copper Wire Sculpture – On Saturday 8th July Sr
Danuta, Miss Liridona, Samantha, Kitty and myself,
took part in an environmental art project creating
words for a ‘Nest of Hope’ which will be exhibited
at the Waveney Sculpture in August. We were
recycling lengths of electrical wire of different
colours, materials and thicknesses, some more
difficult to handle than others. It was very
informative and enjoyable. I am now working out
how we can create a similar project in school.
Mrs Heale
Lucy Edwards – Lucy was a pupil here until she
completed her GCSE’s in 2015. We have been
advised that Lucy has won a ‘Get into teaching’
bursary from the Department of Education worth
£5000 per year, for three years, to study Maths, as
she is on course to gain 3 A* grade A levels.
Holiday Challenge – Relaxing in God’s creation
Experience the beauty of God’s creation, just being
connected with all of nature in a special place.
Take time to stop, breath, listen, soak up the world
around you as you experience God’s wonderful
world.
Think who am I?
Why did God make me?
Why am I here?
Bring something or, find something or, make or
create something that expresses what you have
experienced, to share with all of us in September.
Little Pedlars Plea – Please send us any unwanted
stationery and any small, medium or large, neutral
coloured baskets or wicker baskets.
Summer School 2017 –Unfortunately due to lack
of numbers we are only able to offer Monday 31st
July, Tuesday 1st and Thursday 3rd August.
There are still places available. The cost is £35.00
per day, per child with a 10% discount for siblings.
Please bring in the full amount on Monday 31st July
Thank you. Miss Wookey
