Co-op Membership Fees One Co-op Share (one time fee) $400 Annual Membership Dues Single Member $495 Family Membership $595 The entrance fee is a one-time cost for one share in the Co-op. After that you pay only annual dues. A family membership is for two adults and their children under 19. Sail for up to 400 hours per season with a Family Membership and up to 300 hours with a Single Membership. Ask for details. Additional costs Contribute to the cost of gas, food, moorage when you cruise or day sail, and pay for any third party courses you take. Sweat equity Families contribute a minimum of 25 hours a year. The Van Isle Sailing Co-op is a non profit organization dedicated to cooperative sailing, cooperative ownership of sail-boats and helping new sailors become proficient.

You’ll get to sail with experienced sail-ors, learn boat maintainance at work parties and gain valuable insight into all things sailing at our monthly meetings from other experienced members.

As a new member you first become crew, and then learn to skipper the boats as you develop the skills. Already have the skills and certifica-tions? Even better. It’s time to sail!

Don’t know how to Sail?Van Isle Sailing Co-op is for everyone who wants affordable sailing, from beginners to experienced sailors. We’ll point you to courses for learning and certification as both crew and skipper.

Our fleet consists of four 27 foot Catalina sailboats.

They’re great for day sailing and cruising throughout the Gulf

Islands and Desolation Sound.

Each boat features 2 or 3 sails, a motor, a galley, head, and berths for sleeping.

Well-built and sturdy fiberglass hulls with deep

keels make Catalina 27s

very safe.

Each boat has a marine radio, depth sounder and chart plotter, plus paper charts.

Set up for day sailing & cruising,

all these boats need is for

you to join and come aboard.

MembershipEnjoy the camraderie of other members, develop your sailing skills, participate in maintenance and upkeep, come out to social events, see amazing guest speakers and experience life in Nanaimo - and out on the Strait - to the very fullest.

Co-op members volunteer to do every-thing from sailing to social events to main-tainance of the fleet. You’ll get to learn from experienced members.

Of course we’re not a sailboat charter, we’re a co-op and we expect members to fully particpate in club activities, mainte-nance and the wellbeing of the co-op.

We have weekly sailing events for fun and skill development and pleasure cruises throughout the sailing season, plus boats going out daily during the sailing season.
