CHILDREN’S OFFERING AT 9:15 SUNDAY MASS:

It has been suggested to me that the children at the 9:15 Sun-

day Mass have the opportunity to place an offering (their

loose change) in the offering basket which will be placed by

the altar. The children would be invited to place their offer-

ing in the basket following their return to the nave after par-

ticipating in the children’s liturgy. Hopefully this will instill

within our young ones the desire to share what they possess

with God. Most children are already “joyful givers”.

fatherhood, in order that it may become what it has been

created to be: an efficacious icon that directs the human

family to its Father. The Fathers of St. Joseph gatherings

are not so much meetings as they are mini retreats, whose

aim is to communicate the spirituality of fatherhood in a

manner that encourages and inspires fathers to embrace,

engage and – by the power of the Holy Spirit – sanctify

their vocation. Our next meeting is November 10th.

20/20 Prayer Project

Father, we thank you for bringing us all together to

work on the 20/20 Project. We pray for the babies who are in danger of being aborted, their mothers, their fami-lies, and all the victims of the abortion industry. We ask that you provide us with the vision, hope, and resiliency, needed to pass the "Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act" in New Jersey in the year 2020. We offer our work to you and ask that you make it fruitful. Give us the wisdom, humility, and courage to faithfully fight for equal rights for babies in the womb by relying completely on the power of Jesus' death and resurrection. Amen. I, (your name) pledge to devoutly pray this prayer for the 20/20 Project each day until the end of the year 2020.

On September 14, 2018, Hurricane Florence devastated the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The storm left 43 people dead in its wake, along with up to $22 billion in damage. Not too long after Florence hit, Hur-ricane Michael devastated the Florida Panhandle. Michael left 17 dead and 1.3 million homes and businesses without power. To aid the American Red Cross in their efforts to provide disaster relief, we are hosting a bake sale on Sat-urday, November 3rd and Sunday, November 4th after all masses. Please come and purchase a delicious treat to support the victims of Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael or you can provide monetary assistance. Thank you for your help and may God bless you!

580-St. Cecilia

ST. MARCELLINUS was born in Africa of noble parents. He journeyed to Gaul with Vincent and Domninus and preached the Gospel with great success in the vicinity of the Alps. Then he fixed his residence at Embrun, where he built an oratory, in which he spent his nights in prayer after consecrating the day to the works of the ministry.

His example and discourses converted a great number of the idolaters among whom he lived. When the whole city had been con-verted to Christianity, St. Eusebius of Verceil consecrated his oratory at his request.

St. Marcellinus himself received Episcopal consecration, and worked with all his power for the spread of the Kingdom of God. He commissioned Vincent and Domninus to preach in several places that he could not visit in person. Heaven confirmed his ap-ostolic labors with miracles. He died at Embrun in 374.

PRAYER God, Light and Shepherd of souls, You established St. Marcellinus as Bishop in Your Church to feed Your flock by his word and form it by his example. Help us through his intercession to keep the Faith he taught by his word and follow the way he showed by his example. Amen.

ST. MARCELLINUS, Bishop

April 20

My Dear parishioners,

In our celebration of the Lord’s Day we mark the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Gospel reading for this Sunday tells us

the story of the blind man Bartimaeus who was cured of his disability by the Lord Jesus after crying out, “Jesus, Son of David,

have pity on me.” The Gospel account concludes with Jesus saying to him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.” The

words which follow are, “Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.” This is faith put into action, fol-

lowing Jesus on the way. This is what holy people do, follow Jesus on the way.

This week we will celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints on Thursday, November 1st. This is the feast which honors all the

holy ones whose names we know and those we don’t. They are the citizens of the Heavenly Jerusalem. This is the throng of

the just and righteous ones who followed Jesus in this life and now enjoy the eternal bliss of Heaven. They are our interces-

sors who stand before God who assist us with their prayers. They are the victors, the conquerors, the faithful ones who would

not allow the evil in the world to corrupt them in their witness to Christ the Savior.

One of the fond memories I have of attending Catholic school as a kid were the stories the Sisters told us of the Saints. The

nuns brought these stories to life and encouraged us to acquire unto ourselves the virtues which these holy men, women and

children possessed. To this day I read about the Saints each day reminding myself of my need to do better, to live holier and to

love more profoundly. I encourage you to do the same. Pick up a book of Saints and be introduced to the one who mem-

ory is celebrated each day of the year! Introduce your children and grandchildren to these heroes of our faith. Movie stars

and sports figures can’t replace those who lived their lives for Christ and suffered for the cause of holiness.

Let us not forget the souls of all the faithful departed for whom we pray on November 2nd and throughout the month of No-

vember. These are our loved ones, friends, neighbors, who have passed on to eternal life and who are making their way to

God. In this process they need the help of our prayers. The highest form of prayer is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. In giving

an offering to the priest the Holy Sacrifice is celebrated for the intention of the departed soul. The giving of a MASS CARD at

the time of death is a great act of faith in Christ’s Holy Resurrection and an act of love for the departed.

I look forward to seeing all of you at Holy Mass later in the week as we commemorate these days. Our faith is summed up in

today’s Alleluia Verse: Our Savior Jesus Christ destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel.

God bless you my good people!
