Come say hello! We are pleased to say that since the 1st of this year we have welcomed

over 40 new parishioners and families!

What better way to get to know each other than around the table. We encourage you to join us Today, Sunday, August 26th following the 10:00 am Mass in Reidy Hall for refreshments. Come say hello.

Welcome!

We’d love to get to know you, connect with you, and inform you of our various activities,

groups and events going on at St. Francis Xavier.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word –    Returning September 9th!

Children's Liturgy of the Word is my favorite time of the week! During our 10am Mass, all the young, and young at heart, receive the blessings of the assembly to go hear God's Word with their little ears downstairs in Reidy Hall. We have a fantastic bunch of loving grown up helpers and, this year, we're going to offer some separate activities for the "littles" and the "bigs" who come. The fun begins Sunday, September 9th and goes all the way to June 30th - at the regular 10am Mass only, except for Christmas and Easter. Planed for children from K to 5th grade.

Brian Johnson Director of Faith Formation - [email protected]

Calendars are posted on our website for the 2018/2019 year - under Faith Formation.

Parish Picnic Sunday, September 9, 2018

With the return of our pie contest!

There are three main components of the nine-month Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) retreat:

1) Pray from 40 minutes to one hour each day using materials provided by your director.2) Meet weekly with your spiritual director for an hour of conversation in which you talk about your experience of prayer.3) Gather monthly for communal prayer and faith sharing.

This is how Evie Larson experienced the Spiritual Exercises:

“The desire to do the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life retreat has been with me for many years. I wanted to find joy in all things and circumstances. I also wanted to enrich my relationship with God through prayer. In the be-ginning the most daunting part of the retreat was the time commitment to prayer. The amount of time eventually did not seem as important as the commitment to prayer. I now turn to prayer more readily in times of frustration, gratitude, happiness, friendship and love. I recognize God’s presence in almost everything I do and everyone I see. This gives me great joy. Praying the Examen each night has helped me see God’s presence in my life and in the all of creation. It has helped me put the happenings of the day into perspective. It has helped me to be less egocentric and become more other-centered. The monthly retreat evenings afforded a wonderful opportunity to celebrate, share insights, and learn from others. I encourage anyone seeking a closer relationship with God to make the SEEL retreat. No one feels ready, but everyone ends the retreat feeling closer to God. Thanks be to God!”

Host Families Seriously Needed!

Loyola Sacred Heart High School is blessed to have the opportunity to include international students as part of our student body. Part of this experience includes the need for host families. We have a seri-ous need for families to host for the 2018-19 school year. We currently have two female students from Asia that will be attending this fall and need a place to stay. If this is something you think you might be interested in, please contact Kathy Schneider, Princi-pal at [email protected] for more information on this wonderful opportunity. Even if you think you might only be able to serve as a welcome family for a short period of time, this would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated!
