In addition to all of our wonderful Advent traditions (Children's Christmas Program on December 18, Cantata on December 11, Blue Christmas worship on December 21, Living Nativity at 4:00 and 5:00 on December 17 – a new tradition!) we will be having midweek worship as well. Each Wednesday well have supper at 6:15 and worship (Holden Evening Prayer with a World Hunger emphasis) – November 30, December 7, December 14, and December 21 (also Blue Christmas worship). Bethel Lutheran Church Our friends at Bethel Lutheran Church in Palatine have voted to join with us in ministry. Their last Sunday worshiping at Bethel will be November 20. On that day, they will join us for our 11:00 service which will be a special service of welcome and fellowship. Try to join us for 11:00 worship on November 20. Going forward, look for more opportunities to welcome and be hospitable. As part of this plan, Pastor David Heim will be on staff with us on a part-time basis to help with transition and integration. Thanksgiving Worship Join us in giving thanks to God for all of God's blessings in a special Thanksgiving Eve worship service on Wednes- day, November 23 at 7 pm. If you can, bring a bag of gro- ceries for the Palatine Town- ship Food Pantry. We'll create a display of God's abundance around the altar. If you cannot, come and be fed at the table. Come. Community Thanksgiving Dinner On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015 All Saints will once again open our doors to serve anyone who needs a place to be for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Over the past few years, we have fed over 200 people each Thanksgiving. Whether homeless or alone for the holiday, we want everyone to feel welcome at All Saints. Plans again include serving turkey and all the sides from 11-1:30 in the Gathering Space. We'll need all hands on deck, so make plans for your family's Thanksgiving tradition to include helping to serve others. We'll need folks to invite the community, set up and decorate the space, clean up the space, cook the food, serve the food, procure donations from area businesses, and provide entertainment and hospitality. If you are interested in helping (especially to coordinate) any of these areas or have other great ideas, please contact Pastor Seth

Women's Christmas Dinner

Friday, December 2nd

Mark your calendars now to at-tend the All Saint's Women's Christmas Dinner on Friday, De-cember 2, 2016. Chef Dave Esau will, once again, prepare one of his awesome dinners for us. The Gath-ering Space will be decorated for guests to celebrate the beginning of this holy holi-day season. If you would like to help with the plan-ning, contact Lori Quinn

Chase the Chill

Now that Fall has arrived and perhaps the weather is turning cooler, perhaps our knitting needles and crochet hooks are start-ing to look appealing again! And, as the weather turns cooler,

certainly there will be people who need to keep warm. The scarves crafted by the Chase the Chill group have kept people warm in the Palatine area, and we’re looking to do so again this win-ter.

Our next date to gather is November 12th from 9-11 a.m. Please plan to join us! We have yarn, patterns, and needles or hooks if you don’t have your own. All skill levels, including beginners, are welcome. Talk with Pastor Jenn if you have questions!

A Real Page Turner Chapter One, All Saints’

page-turning book discus-sion group, continues this month. We will meet at Joan Fedota’s home, Monday, November 21 at 7 p.m. to discuss “The Glassblower” by Petra Durst-Benning.

We meet the third Monday of the month from September to May, (taking a break in December, June, July and August). Always happy to wel-come new members, we have few rules and spirited discussions. For more information, call Jane Oppermann, 847-277-7715 or Nancy Oakford, 847-303-5860.

Adopt a Family Once again it’s time to put on those wings! We are asking all of our All Saints Angels to partici-pate in the Palatine Township Adopt-a-Family program. The number of needy families in our community continues to grow. All Saints has adopted 14 fami-

lies, a total of 60 individuals! We realize this is an ambitious undertaking considering the current eco-nomic climate, but we believe our angels will be there to provide a wonderful Christmas for these families.

A list of all individuals we have adopted and their gift “wishes” will be in the narthex beginning on Sunday, November 13th. The sign-up will continue through Sunday, November 27th. Gifts will be due by December 4th. Thank you in advance for your continued support of this very important program.

If you have any questions or would like to volun-teer to help with this project please contact Kelly, 847-420-1587 or Robin, 847-612-9018.

Cantata Sunday is December 11th

Love Came Down at Christmas

The All Saints Cantata Choir has

been rehearsing for many weeks and they are excited to present Joel Raney’s cantata, Love Came Down at Christmas, on Sunday, December 11th.

The inspiration for this cantata is Christina Rossetti’s poem, Love Came Down at Christmas. What a perfect phrase to describe the very essence of Christmas! First published in 1885, this remarkable lyric has survived the ages without being attached to a specific tune. In addition to composing a new tune for Rossetti’s lyrics, Joel scatters lines of this classic poem throughout the work. Much of the material in this cantata is origi-nal, though you will find many familiar carols and Christmas favorites woven into its fabric as well.

Come have your spirit lifted with this beautiful music. Bring your family and invite your friends and neighbors to join with us as we prepare again for the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Committees Need You

Do you have a few hours a month to make All Saints a stronger place? We could use your help. You could help by joining a committee. It’s not as boring as it sounds. Each committee operates a little differently, but mostly you meet once per month and share your ideas and perhaps take on a small task or two. That’s it. But it makes a world of difference. If you’d like to help, we could use you with our Worship, Property (building mainte-nance), Outreach (making All Saints known in the community), Stewardship (helping us use all of our time and talents and treasure wisely), Technology (computers and IT), Financial Support (money, money, money), Learning, Social Ministry and oth-er Committees. Talk with either of the pastors and we’ll get you hooked up.

Congregational Welcoming What do we mean and what do people hear when we say “All are welcome?” We’re looking for people to join a core team to help lead education and conver-sation around an affirmation of welcome that embraces the diversity of creation – race, sexual orientation, class. If you’re interested in knowing more, please talk with Pastor Jenn or email her at [email protected]

For The Littlest Saints

All Saints has recently transi-tioned to a new faith resource called FROLIC for its youngest members. Frolic helps busy parents during their child's first three years by automatically

delivering to their inbox a personalized e-newsletter about their child on the first of every month. The Frolic e-newsletters are packed with age-appropriate articles about the child's devel-opment and tips about early faith formation.

Parents of children age three and younger that have been baptized, if you haven’t sent your in-formation to receive FROLIC e-mails, please send your child’s name and birthdate along with your name and preferred e-mail address to [email protected].

Welcome Confirmands On Reformation Sunday, October 30, 6 young

people affirmed their baptismal promises and have become confirmed members of All Saints.

Congratulations on this milestone to Marissa Ban, Alyssa Bolbot, Emily Catsaros, Emily Chernich, Eli Hopkins, and Will Stearney.
