Shawnee enjoyed fun and fashion at the Couture for a Cause spring benefit. This popular event has been a tradition in Shawnee since 1998, providing an opportunity to celebrate women and, most of all, support the hospital’s

mission of improving the health and well-being of the community.

The sold-out crowd enjoyed lunch, raffle drawings, and the latest fashions from Dillard’s and Mayme’s Miss and Mrs. The event surpassed goal, raising more than $63,000 to benefit St. Anthony Shawnee’s new Women’s Center.

Thank you to event chair Michelle Briggs, her dynamic committee, and all the sponsors, volunteers and attendees who made this event a smashing success!

ParentUniversity

Recovering from mental illness is terrifying and exhausting, both for the person diagnosed and for those who stand beside them throughout the recovery process. Parents and caregivers of the children and teens in St. Anthony’s Behavioral Medicine Center tell us they often feel unprepared to deal with the significant challenges.

With your help, that’s changing. Donations to the Behavioral Medicine Center have allowed the creation of Parent University – a program offering targeted workshops and activities to build bonds and empower families who are often ill-equipped to deal with their child’s mental illness.

Presented by mental health professionals, the workshops are offered throughout the year and focus on understanding mental illness, parenting skills, de-escalation techniques, verbal and nonverbal communication skills and support safety plans for the return home. A well-developed safety plan is critical for preventing relapse. Families work alongside their child to identify and understand triggers and how to effectively respond before a situation hits crisis level. Providing families with this additional training and support helps create a happier and more successful return to mainstream life. Improved understanding is also key to reducing the stigma associated with mental illness

St. Anthony employees show their dedication through the exceptional care they provide, but they also support Saints with gifts to the Employee Giving Campaign. As we wrap up the final stages of the 2016 campaign, our employees have donated a record-breaking $220,000 to the Foundation.

Whether it is buying a new piece of equipment, providing prescriptions to patients in need or assisting a co-worker in a time of tragedy, Saints employees see the difference their gifts make in the quality of care, and in the lives of patients, their families and co-workers alike.

The success of the Employee Campaign is an example of the type of employees who work at St. Anthony. Our employees are committed to St. Anthony and are confident in our future.

Thank you!

On May 2nd, St. Anthony celebrated the opening of the newly renovated St. Anthony Cafeteria at the Midtown campus. The Cafeteria is now a welcoming and beautiful space for our staff, patients and their families

to rest, nourish and refresh. The Cafeteria also offers expanded food options, including BBQ, handmade pizza, fresh tossed salads, healthy entrees and gourmet desserts.

The project was made possible by two very generous donors who wanted to express their appreciation to our physicians, nurses and staff for the exceptional care they provide to our patients and families.

Among the opportunities for supporting our mission of healing, consider a charitable bequest in your will. This estate-planning option is a

simple way to enhance your legacy and help ensure that exceptional, compassionate healthcare remains available to all Oklahomans, including the poor, vulnerable and often-forgotten.

Here’s why making a charitable bequest may be the perfect giving option for you:

• You can accommodate multiple giving priorities. A bequest can be made as a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate, so you can ensure that your loved ones and favorite causes benefit in relative proportion. St. Anthony Foundation can also be named a contingent beneficiary – meaning the needs of surviving beneficiaries come first.

• You have security. A bequest allows you to balance your charitable giving wishes with your current needs. Because you aren’t parting with your assets today, you don’t need to worry that you’ll run into financial difficulties in the future as a result of your gift.

• You can change your mind at any time. We understand that circumstances change, and your gift to us in your will may no longer be possible in the future.

• Your estate can receive tax benefits. In addition to the heartfelt satisfaction that comes with giving, making a bequest to a charity can provide tax benefits to your estate.

The following language is recommended for including St. Anthony Foundation in your will:

“I give and bequeath to the St. Anthony Hospital Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma [the written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

Making us aware of your bequest is optional, but very helpful. Doing so allows us to acknowledge your generosity and recognize you as a member of our Legacy Society, a group of dedicated supporters who have also included St. Anthony in their estate plans. If you would like further information, please contact: Kathleen Bartlett, Senior Development Director at [email protected] or 405.272.7070.

Support Our Mission Through A Bequest

As always, we recommend that you consult with your financial advisor or attorney to ensure that all your objectives are met, as gifts have varying benefits depending on if they are made outright during life or through a bequest.
