Adopting good household habits can help protect our lakes, streams, rivers and wetlands, some of these habits include;
♦ Before beginning an outdoor project, locate the nearest storm drain and protect them from debris and other materials.
♦ Sweep up and properly dispose of construction debris such as concrete and mortar.
♦ Use hazardous substances like paints, solvents and cleaners in the smallest amounts possible and follow the directions on the label. Clean up spills.
♦ Purchase and use nontoxic, biodegradable, recycled and recyclable products whenever possible.
♦ Clean paint brushes in a sink, not outdoors. Filter and reuse paint thinner when using oil-based paints. Properly dispose of excess paints through a
household hazardous waste collection program, or donate unused paint to local organizations.
♦ Reduce the amount of paved area and increase the amount of vegetated area in your yard. Use native plants in your landscaping to reduce the need for watering during dry periods. Consider directing downspouts away from paved surfaces onto lawns and other measures to increase infil-
tration and reduce polluted runoff.

SHOES WANTEDSHOES WANTEDSHOES WANTEDSHOES WANTED Hello, it’s Brylee Ivers- Miss Salem here again! This month I wanted to get the word out for my shoe drive. In June of 2018 I will be competing in the Miss Utah pageant. Our mission as Miss Utah contestants is to each collect 1,000 pairs of shoes from our surrounding communities, and I need
YOUR help, Salem!
NEED? Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! In any style, size, and condition.
WHY SHOES? These shoes are donated to the Power to Become nonprofit that sells the shoes donated to recycling companies. The money that is then re-
ceived, is used to help those in Burkina Faso, Africa. The money is used to dig water wells, build villages, and help those less fortunate!
