Harper leads GreenFaith, an interfaith coalition for the environment that works with houses of worship, religious schools and people of all faiths to help them become better environmental stew-ards. They address environmental issues holistically, and are committed to being a one-stop shop for the resources and tools religious institutions need to engage environmental issues and become religious-environmental leaders. They have held convergences around the world gathering youth activists to come together from all faith communities and work on climate justice. The City sponsored two conversations specifically designed to engage the Muslim community, a very small population of Hyattsville. As a followup to the successful conversations, the City hosted its very first Iftar feast in the Hyattsville Municipal Building. Sanders, an Independent, launched a historic run for the Presidency of the United States. During his campaign, Sanders, who is Jewish, spoke passionately in support of the Muslim community in the US. He was also the only Presidential candidate from the Democratic and Republican parties to decline an invitation from AIPAC to attend its annual convention. Instead, Sanders sent a taped video message that declared his commitment to true peace and justice in Palestine and the occupied territories.
