THE PROJECT:The task was to design a new 12,000 s.f. LEED-certified car dealership for Walser Subaru in Burnsville, MN. The project consisted of the demolition of an existing building on site, the design and installation of a new subsurface stormwater managment system, and the design of a new site layout with a new building. The project, from conceptual design to construction completion took approximately one year. USGBC awarded the project LEED certification in November 2009, and is the first LEED certified car dealership in Minnesota and the first LEED certified Subaru dealership.

MY ROLE:At the inception of the project, I led a meeting with a LEED certified consultant to determine the feasibility of LEED certification for this project. As a result of the meeting, it was determined that LEED was a viable option to pursue. For the duration of the project, I assisted in the development of site and building schematic designs, production of construction drawings, and participated in construction observation on site.
