Dear Representative Dunn:
On May 20, the Faith in Action program in Issaquah, WA, will be in Washington, DC, to highlight faith-based community volunteer caregiving efforts across the country.
We would like to request a meeting with you to discuss our program. We would be available to meet with you anytime on Thursday, May 20, after 10:00 a.m. Participants at the meeting would include Paula Hardy (a colleague) and me.
Faith in Action Issaquah is a network of trained volunteers helping the frail elderly, chronically ill, and persons with disabilities live independently in their communities. We’re a coalition of 22 congregations of all faiths and 15 service providers, health care agencies and community organizations from Issaquah, the Sammamish Plateau and the Snoqualmie Valley. Our volunteers provide a number of different services, including transportation, basic chores, respite and companionship. We strive to help people remain in their homes and maintain their sense of worth and self-dignity.
Faith in Action is a national interfaith volunteer caregiving program, with more than 500 programs across the country. Faith in Action awards grants to local groups, representing many faiths, that volunteer to work together to care for their neighbors who have long-term health care needs.
