Over 80% of profits returned to our community COMMUNITY NEWS We are pleased to announce our Community Partners for 2020. With more than 80% of our profits going back into the local community, this year we are supporting many sporting clubs, schools, kindergartens and community organisations. In fact, since our inception in 2002, we have returned a massive $2,100,000 to the Bayside community. This year, we continue our focus on diversity and inclusion, supporting girls’ and women’s sport and also providing opportunities for those with disabilities and special needs to play sport. We are supporting inspirational intergenerational programs involving two pre-schools and aged care facilities - Nagle Pre-School kids are visiting the elderly at Regis Aged Care and Black Rock Pre-School kids are visiting Fairways Aged Care residents. We are also funding the development of the kitchen garden at Sandringham Primary School. A grant of $12,100 keeps the Sandringham Community Bank Sandybeach buses running, reaching out to the elderly and those with disabilities who are often socially isolated. This year we provided $6,000 to the Sandringham Historical Society, to fulfil the vital role of keeping our local history alive and accessible to local residents. The funds will support a larger project to digitise and publish online a significant portion of the Society's extensive collection of historical records. This project also supports the process of ‘making history’, inviting contemporary community organisations to submit their own images and documents to the collection, allowing their own history to be available online to the local community and beyond. $2.1M for our community! With more than 80% of our profits going back into the local community, this year we are supporting many sporting clubs, schools, kindergartens and community organisations. In fact, since our inception in 2002, we have returned a massive $2,100,000 to the Bayside community.

The Bendigo Bank National Bushfire Disaster Appeal has so far raised over $30 million thanks to the generosity of hundreds of thousands of people. 100% of funds raised will go directly to communities affected – and the funds are continuing to flow. Many local Bayside businesses have been putting in a remarkable effort – a big shout out to Café Hobsons that raised $3,630 and Sandy Kiosk raised $545. Michael Hoyle from Limoncello also participated in a festival with his food truck which in total raised a massive $250,000 towards the bushfire appeal.

Plus, we’ve seen countless residents coming into the branch to offer generous donations. It’s been so inspiring to see the local community rallying to support people and animals affected by devastating bushfires. This is community spirit at its best!

5 minutes with Georgia Harvey, Customer Relationship Officer, Sandringham Community Bank.

Q: What are your first impressions of working at Sandringham Community Bank? Very welcoming and friendly! Matthew and the girls have been very supportive and help me feel like I’m part of the ‘family’.

Q: What’s your favourite movie? The 1973 Disney Classic Robin Hood.

Q: Favourite food? Honestly, I love spicy food, so I always enjoy a curry! It’s interesting to see how various regions

have created their own unique curry flavour.

Q: Tell us about your family. I come from a large family originating from Cairns. I’ve recently relocated to Melbourne with my fiancé Taylor and we just love the Melbourne lifestyle.

Q: What are your favourite places to hang out in Bayside? I really enjoy the local Sandringham shopping, but nothing beats going to the beach on a hot, sunny day!
