Products in ActionSandvik’s product range extends from rock tools and drill rigs to crushers,

screens and materials handling systems. Our involvement covers everything

from exploration to material handling. This makes us, we believe, the

world’s most complete supplier of equipment and solutions to the

mining and construction industries. It is on this solid platform that our

Our extensive offering begins with the world’s widest range of

cemented-carbide tipped rock tools. Used on machines such as drill rigs,

raise-borers, roadheaders, continuous miners and shearers, they spearhead

nearly all surface and underground development and excavation processes.

Then comes a comprehensive range of drill rigs for surface and

underground development and production drilling, complemented on

the underground side by a full range of load-haul-dump vehicles (LHDs)

and dump trucks for loading and transportation of the blasted material.

The different series of machines for underground hard rock mining cover

virtually all methods, and include a wide range of machines to mechanize

operations effi ciently.

For underground soft rock excavation, Sandvik offers a wide range

of roadheaders and continuous miners, as well as rubber-tired

vehicles (RTVs) such as electric or diesel-powered utility scoops, LHDs

and low-profi le coal haulers.

We also have a solid competence in mineral exploration, both under-

ground and on the surface. Our product range covers tools, drill rigs and

related equipment.

On the rock processing side, the company offers a wide variety of

crushers and screens, both stationary and mobile, as well as a full range of

hydraulic hammers to deal with oversize fragments and boulders.

To distribute processed materials such as rock, ore or coal for further

processing, feeding, stockpiling or shipping, Sandvik’s offering is completed

by a comprehensive range of materials handling equipment and associated

the world. We have some 4.500 service technicians who are strategically

located close to where our customers are. They are only a local phone call

away when you need their help.

More importantly, they are all part of our united global team of

service experts. This means that they can draw upon each other’s

experience. They can assist each other when required. And we can put

together special teams for specifi c requirements.

Service is, of course, a matter of being available when problems

Sandvik has a long tradition as a pioneer and innovator. We were the fi rst

to introduce steel drills tipped with cemented carbide in the 1940s. They

provided the point of departure for a new era and gave a dramatic increase

in both service life and productivity in rock drilling.

This innovative spirit is still a strong driving force inside the com-

pany. We focus intensively on research and development to maintain a fast

pace of development of advanced new products that are more productive

and effi cient. Clear evidence of this is that some 40 percent of our current

sales involve products launched in the past fi ve years.

To give some recent examples: The Sandvik DS110L is an innovative

rock-bolting machine for securing tunnel roofs. It can access

and work in spaces that are no more than 1.1 meters (3.6 ft) high. The

Sandvik UH440i is a mobile crushing unit with built-in intelligence. The

process is continuously and automatically monitored by an intelligent con-

trol system. AutoMine™ is a remotely controlled loading and hauling sys-

tem for achieving optimum safety and productivity in underground mining.

Most of our product innovation is stimulated by the close coopera-

tion we have with our customers. You place extremely high demands on

us and we fl ex our muscles to meet your requirements. Most of our new

products are developed in direct response to customers’ needs for specially

adapted solutions. We like to be challenged in this way.

Sustainability in ActionSandvik has a long tradition as a good corporate citizen. This can only be

achieved by ensuring that our actions and business decisions demonstrate

sustainable economic, social and environmental principles. Sandvik’s social

and environmental values and beliefs are set out in our Code of Conduct.

Safety and health regulations vary from country to country but

Sandvik is working to implement its own internal standards that will take

our performance well beyond minimum safety requirements. This is

based upon a strong culture that is supported by effective safety

management systems. Each manager is made aware of the importance of

personal leadership in meeting these objectives. Every employee is required

to take personal responsibility for his/her safety and most of our sites are

certified according to OHSAS 18001.

Sandvik has identifi ed the largest environmental aspects of its opera-

tions (consumption of energy, raw materials and water; CO2 emissions;

waste production) and has set group objectives to reduce their impact.

Almost all of Sandvik’s production sites have demonstrated a systematic

approach to Environmental Management by achieving ISO14001 certi-

fi cation. Environmental considerations are a key element when new prod-

ucts are developed or existing processes are changed.

Sandvik takes the social aspects of sustainability very seriously.

This includes having equally high respect for human and labor rights at

all locations around the world. In practice this includes implementing our

Equal Opportunities Policy to meet some important challenges, such as

improving the gender balance in our workforce. Sandvik also strives to

understand and interact constructively with its local communities and

to assist in their development. At any given time, Sandvik is involved in a

number of very important community development projects.
