Reason and PrerequisitesIn this note the current limitations concerning Web Dynpro ABAP aredescribed. Note that these limitations can change when the situationdemands it. There might be further limitations or restrictions which arenot mentioned in this note.See the Product Availability Matrix (PAM, http://service.sap.com/pam) forthe supported browser and client platforms.Please note that SAP is not responsible for the content of externalwebsites which are mentioned in this note.
Solution
SAP System Prior to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (NW2004s)Web Dynpro ABAP is not released for official use in systems prior to SAPNetWeaver 7.0 (NW2004s).
SAP NetWeaver 7.00 and 7.10Web Dynpro ABAP is officially released starting SAP NetWeaver 7.0(NW2004s).The following general limitations exist:
o No mobile device support
Mobile devices are not supported for/in Web Dynpro ABAP.
o Web browser related limitations
Web Dynpro ABAP does not provide a controled behavior for the newwindow (Ctrl+N) functionality of Web browsers. This browserfunction should not be used as part of the application flow.
For information on Firefox limitations see also SAP note 1089062.
o No SAP GUI support
The use of Web Dynpro ABAP applications inside SAP GUI is notsupported due to technical restrictions which may inhibit thecorrect behavior of applications under some circumstances.
o No support for SAP GUI dynpros
Calling classic SAP GUI based dynpros by Web Dynpro ABAP is notsupported, neither directly, e.g. via CALL SCREEN, nor indirectly

via CALL TRANSACTION, SUBMIT REPORT etc.
Note that from NetWeaver 7.0 SP12 onwards, if a Dynpro is called,there is no longer a program dump. Instead, an exception is raisedin the associated internal mode. Note that in an input help, anerror message is displayed accordingly, so that the application canbe continued.
o BIApplicationFrame limitations
The BIApplicationFrame UI element only supports the execute anddrilldown command. The BIApplicationFrame for Web Dynpro ABAP doesnot support BI Web Applications for Java with Netweaver 7.0.
o Popup-related limitations
A popup displayed on top of an Adobe Form may cause flickering.Under certain circumstances the popup may become hidden under theAdobe form.
All UI elements that are derived from AbstractActiveComponent(Gantt, Network, OfficeControl, InteractiveForm) are not supportedin popups.
o eCATT
eCATT is not supported for Web Dynpro ABAP.
o Value help for date fields

o Internet Explorer 8
Internet Explorer 8 is supported for Web Dynpro ABAP starting SP20.
o Firefox 2.0
- Firefox 2.0 is supported in SAP NetWeaver 7.00 for Web DynproABAP starting SP14.
- The UI elements Gantt, Network, and OfficeControl are notsupported in Firefox.
o Firefox 3.0
Firefox 3.0 is supported in SAP NetWeaver 7.00 for Web Dynpro ABAPstarting SP19.
o Firefox 3.5
Firefox 3.5 is supported in SAP NetWeaver 7.00 for Web Dynpro ABAPstarting SP21.
o Firefox 3.6
Firefox 3.6 is supported inSAP NetWeaver 7.00 for Web Dynpro ABAPstarting SP24.

o FireFox (all versions) is not supported in SAP NetWeaver 7.10.
o Flash Player
To use Adobe Flash Islands a Flash Player version 10 or higher isrequired.
o Safari
See Product Availablility Matrix (PAM): service.sap.com/pam and SAPNote 1634749: "Safari browser for end user and administrators".
o Chrome
See Product Availablility Matrix (PAM): service.sap.com/pam and SAPNote 1655306: "Google Chrome for end users and administrators".
o SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe
The Interactive Forms by Adobe is supported for the 32-bit versionof browsers only.
Supported Adobe Reader versions: The solution is generallyavailable starting Adobe Reader version 7.0.9 (Note that there areadditional browser and platform restrictions, see below).
SAP recommends to use the newest available Adobe Reader version.Note that the HTTPS protocol is supported by Adobe Readers as ofVersion 8.1 only.
As of SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SPS10 it's strongly recommended to use ZCIforms with an XML interface only instead of ACF based forms.Because additional central features have been added in subsequentSPs (input help and dropdown list boxes), it's generallyrecommended that the most up-to-date Support Package for Web DynproABAP should be installed.
The Web Dynpro Context which is bound to the property "dataSource"of the interactiveForm UI element must not contain Attributes ofcomplex datatype, i.e. Attributes which are typed with structures,internal tables or reference types are not supported (soleexception: print forms having a DDIC interface).Furthermore, the Context node names and the Attribute names mustnot have a namespace prefix.
UI element "Text Field" with format "Rich text" is not supported
ActiveX (ACF) based integration:
- For the ActiveX (ACF) based integration, only the Submit buttonXFO from the Web Dynpro ActiveX library of Adobe LiveCycle

Designer is supported.
- The property 'readOnly' of the interactiveForm UI element willnot be evaluated for ACF-based interactive forms.
- ACF based interactive forms are supported in Internet Exploreronly.
- ACF based interactive forms will not work with Reader Xprotected mode (see SAP note 1538540 for more information)
Native (ZCI) based integration:
- For the Native (ZCI) based integration, only the Submit buttonXFO, the Enumerated Drop-Down List XFO as well as the Valuehelp button XFO from the Web Dynpro Native library of AdobeLiveCycle Designer are supported.
- Web Dynpro ABAP does NOT support dynamic tables in forms.
- Note the performance considerations and the size limitationsprovided from Adobe concerning interactive forms:http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/articles/DynamicInteractiveFormPerformance.pdf
Additional browser specific restrictions:
Firefox 2:
- Up to SP16 note 1180004 has to be installed additionally
Firefox 3.0:
- Up to SP20 note 1322323 has to be installed additionally
- Adobe Reader 9.1 and higher is supported
Firefox 3.5:
- Adobe Reader 9.2 and higher is supported
Firefox 3.6:
- Adobe Reader 9.2 and higher is supported
Internet Explorer 8:
- The 32-bit version of IE8 with compatibility mode set to "On"is supported only. The 64-bit version of Internet Explorer 8 isnot supported
- Adobe Reader 9.1 and later is supported only
- The Adobe Document Services (ADS) of SP20 (7.10: SP9) or laterhave to be used and the ZCI scripts of ZCI-based (native) formshave to be upgraded to the corresponding version of the ADS.

MacOS:
- SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe are not supported on MacOS
Microsoft Windows 7:
- Windows 7 is supported starting with Adobe Reader version 9.2,Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3.5 and SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SP21(ADS version 800.20090608122643.560369) / SAP NetWeaver 7.10SP09 (ADS version 800.20090608122643.560369)
Additional Adobe Reader specific restrictions:
Reader X (10.0):
- See SAP note 1552962
o Office Integration
The Microsoft Office Integration is supported for the 32-bitversion of Microsoft Office in combination with Internet Explorer32-bit version. 64-bit Internet explorer and 64-bit MicrosoftOffice are only supported together with installation of MicrosoftOffice Integration.
o UI element libraries
The following UI element libraries are no longer available/visiblein the View Designer in the ABAP Development Workbench:
- EP_INTERNAL
- MOBILE
- PROPOSALS
- SAP_HOME
o UI elements
- The following UI elements of the PATTERN library are notsupported: ContextualPanel, NavigationList, FreeContextualPaneland ViewSwitch.
- The action onAction is not supported for TableColumnGroups. Seealso SAP note 1254508.
- The UI element Table is not supported within TablePopins orRowRepeaters .
SAP NetWeaver 7.01 and 7.11 (Enhancement Package 1)The limitations for SAP NetWeaver 7.00 and SAP NetWeaver 7.10 are stillvalid, except:
o Web browser related limitations

- Web Dynpro ABAP does not provide a controled behavior for thenew window (Ctrl+N) functionality of Web browsers. This browserfunction should not be used as part of the application flow.
o Firefox 2.0
- The limitation concerning Firefox 2.0 is no longer valid:All UI elements that are derived from AbstractActiveComponent(Gantt, Network, InteractiveForm) are now supported in Firefox.
o Firefox 3.0
- The limitation concerning Firefox 3.0 is no longer valid.Firefox 3.0 is supported for 7.01 starting SP4 and 7.11starting SP2.
Additionally, there are the following new limitations for this release:
o Firefox 2.0
- All new GenericActiveComponent (GAC*) UI elements and OfficeIntegration are not supported in Firefox.
o Popup-related limitations
- AcfExecute, AcfUpDownload, FlashIsland, Office Integration, allGenericActiveComponent (GAC*) UI elements are not supported inpopups.
o Rendering Engine
- Starting from 7.01 SP4 or 711 SP2 the old rendering engine "URClassic" isn't supported anymore. The application paramterWDLIGHTSPEED should be deleted or set to X. In the application"wd_global_setting" mark the check box behind the label"Lightspeed Rendering (WDLIGHTSPEED):"
o UI element restrictions
ActiveX:
UI elements based on ActiveX (Crystal integration,GenericActiveComponent) are supported for the 32-bit version ofInternet Explorer only.
The UI element ActiveX is only available for SAP-internal use.In addition, there are restrictions for SAP-internal use.
Table Paginator:
The paginator of the Web Dynpro ABAP UI Element table can nolonger be switched on in SAP NetWeaver 7.01 for Web DynproABAP. It has been replaced with the functionality ofscrollbars. For more information, see SAP note 1407668.
InteractiveForm (SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe):

For Internet Explorer 8 the Adobe Document Services (ADS) ofSP5 (7.11: SP4) or later have to be used.
Microsoft Windows 7 is supported starting with Adobe Readerversion 9.2, Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3.5 and SAPNetWeaver 7.01 SP06 (ADS version 802.20090618120017.572641) /SAP NetWeaver 7.11 SP04 (ADS version802.20090618120017.572641).
SAP NetWeaver 7.02 (Enhancement Package 2), 7.20 and 7.30The limitations for 7.01 and 7.11 are still valid, except:
o Web browser related limitations
- Web Dynpro ABAP does not provide a controled behavior for thenew window (Ctrl+N) functionality of Web browsers. This browserfunction should not be used as part of the application flow
o Browser specific restrictions
Safari:
The Safari browser (version 4, 5.0) is supported for MacOS.
o UI element restrictions
InteractiveForm (SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe):
Microsoft Windows 7 is supported starting with Adobe Readerversion 9.2, Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3.5 and SAPNetWeaver 7.02 SP02 (ADS version 802.20090911061436.597944) /SAP NetWeaver 7.20 SP02 (ADS version823.20090916041231.601740).
The InteractiveForm UI-element is not supported for Safari 5.1.
o Rendering Engine
- The old rendering engine "UR Classic" isn't support and wasremoved in 7.02, 7.20 and above. The application paramterWDLIGHTSPEED should be deleted or set to X. In the application"wd_global_setting" mark the check box behind the label"Lightspeed Rendering (WDLIGHTSPEED):"
o eCATT is now supported for Web Dynpro ABAP.
