The Challenge

• “The United States higher education system is becoming less of a meritocracy. In the last decade, the percentage of students from families at the highest income levels who got a bachelor’s degree has grown to 82 percent, while for those at the bottom it has fallen to just 8 percent.”– Jeff Selingo, editor at large of The

Chronicle of Higher Education, from his forthcoming book, “College (Un)bound: The Future of Higher Education and What it Means for Students.”
