Surface Battle Group v3.0

11/26/2010

By popular demand, the ship counters by Christopher Jones andthe game markers for SBG are made available herein.

Since the core rules for SBG3 already contain these items, gamers must want them for other naval games. So be it.

In this format they very attractive and are far less expensive thanpewter castings. The scale used is not exact but is reasonablyclose to 1/2400.

Relabeling them as other ship classes is simple enough withsome blank self-adhesive labels, scissors and a fine point pen ormarker.

The ship counter sheet contains the following USN and Russianship and aircraft counters plus a few generic ordnace counters.

USN classes: 1-Iowa, 1-Tarawa, 1-Perry, 1-Arliegh Burke, 1-Spruance,1-Belknap, 1-Ticonderoga, 4-SH-60H, 4-SH3H, 4-F18 & 4-Harrier

Russian classes: 1-Kirov, 1-Oscar,1-Moskva, 1-Slava, 2-Krivak II,1-Akula, 2-Kilo, 2-Sovremenny, 2-Udaloy, 4-Ka-25, 4-Ka-27,4-MiG-29 & 4-Tu-22M

Generic ordnance: 4-Torpedoes, 2-Missiles

This collection of 58 modern naval ship counters should be ableto get you started with whatever game system you choose. Irecommend Surface Battle Group v3.0.

The game markers include numeric markers from ½ to 12. Othermarkers include “spotted”, “fired offensively” and chits labeled“LR” for launch/recover subordinate craft, “RA” for radar active,“SA” for Sonar active and directional arrows for movement.

Wishing you Good Gaming,T. Dziegielewski

The primary use of the numeric markers is to indicate movement rate. The threedifferent colors of the numbers corresponds to the change in sonar spottingmodifiers applicable to that speed; both for listening and making noise. RA =Radar Active, SA = Sonar Active, LR = Launch & Recover aircraft or hovercraft,DC = Dummy Counters. The green arrow heads show the final direction of avessel at the end of movement. SPOT markers are placed next to vessels whenthey are spotted. FIRED markers are placed next to vessels that have used theirOFFENSIVE fire capabilities. Sa
