Fully automated new plant in Russia

CLEIA just comes to the end of the successful commissioning of a robotized dehacking machine for facing brick in the area of Toula, south of Moscow. This new line was installed in parallel with the existing one.

The commissioning of the new SBMT2 bricks plant built in Touggourt for the Tedjini Group has occurred in the summer of 2012, only 14 months after the implementation of the contract, for the fi rst time in Algeria. This new unit dedicated to the production of heavy clay hollow bricks and hourdis stones is equipped with a Sirocco rapid dryer with an innovative automatic chain tensioning device that makes the maintenance easier and increases the reliability

of the drive system. As for the firing process, the Technofast kiln - 100% in refractory pieces - completely meets the specifi c requirements of the fi ring of the corrosive clays extracted in this area. And several months after the starting up, the kiln already produces 150% of its nominal capacity. This technology combining a sealed kiln with a hanging roof is the very fi rst of its kind in Algeria, and turns out to be fully satisfactory.

The kiln cars, also made up of refractory pieces, complete the pattern of the firing system developed by CLEIA.It is undisputed that CLEIA's most noticeable innovation is the new 1200x1200 packs stacking on the kiln cars. The packets are strapped without any pallet and can be easily carried into the delivery trucks. This new reference of CLEIA in Algeria represents a major technological advance for the Tedjini Group.

TUNISIA

Al Baraka CIE has two main shareholders: CLEIA, that has initiated the project and is the majority shareholder, and Al Baraka, former workshop manufacturing dies, ducts and mechanically welded sub-sets.

Its core activity consists of manufacturing part of the equipment designed by CLEIA, for the North African market. The company has the resources required to manufacture mechanically welded sub-sets, electric cabinets, and also to provide assembly and wiring services.

Al Baraka CIE is located near Sousse, in an industrial area in the immediate proximity of a port and an airport. In addition it is in the vicinity of local bricks plants, but also of the tourist area. A valuable commercial advantage !

This company is the bridgehead of CLEIA's development in Tunisia and Libya. The necessary skills will be progressively developed to ensure the realisation and the starting up of plants. It will be specialized in the upgradable bricks plants adapted to this market. It will also ensure after-sale service on these markets.

Our approach is guided by one target: upgrade the technological level and ensure the progress of the local industrial actors to build high-end plants while locally ensuring the follow-up and the maintenance.

Therefore CLEIA has chosen to settle in Tunisia, in an area that proves to be highly-skilled, outward-looking, in order to be in a position to propose its technology in North Africa, from a nearby base, at competitive prices.

On a market undergoing tremendous changes, CLEIA is building a long-term presence in the Maghreb by establishing its fi rst subsidiary: AL BARAKA CIE.This choice was defi nitively enacted further to the implementation of a contract for the building of the largest brickworks of Southern Tunisia.

NEW ROOF TILES PLANT CS-COELHO DA SILVA 5 IN PORTUGAL

EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATIONIt is in this excellence-driven context that in 2011, a decision was made to invest in a new two-stage state-of-the-art tiles plant and CS-Coelho Da Silva's officers have chosen CLEIA as their sole supplier of a turnkey solution for the whole plant. With the technology of the water-seal kiln, Hydro-Ecofast type and a chamber dryer equipped with a totally innovative ventilation system, CLEIA takes on the challenge of building this new unit in a 9-month deadline. The mutual confidence placed by the management and technical teams of both companies has been a key element in the success of the project, making possible a close cooperation to obtain the best possible result. The project completion schedule is strictly observed and the first fired tiles get out of the kiln during the summer of 2012.

FORMINGThe existing clay preparation line has been completed with a new forming unit equipped with Handle machinery and a Rieter press. The press equipped with 2 plaster moulds set the tiles on metallic trays.

DRYINGThe metallic drying supports are reversible and allow the positioning of 4 tiles per drying tray. The trays are stacked on the double-load drying cars.Drying is performed in chambers whose admission, extraction and recycling circuits have been completely re-designed, allowing a progressive drying and diminished energy consumption.

FIRINGRegarding the tunnel kiln, the water-seal technologies makes it possible to obtain a perfect tightness of the canal and therefore an optimal control of the firing atmosphere within the tunnel. Firing under controlled atmosphere has a direct influence of the tiles quality: tile fragment's colour, mechanical strength, porosity…The modules of the Hydro-Ecofast kiln's structure, tight and welded together, optimise the sealing of the walls and the roof. On the kiln cars, each stack of H is supported by a specific refractory support reducing the thermal and mechanical stresses on the H, and so increasing the service life of the refractory supports.

"SELF-ALIGNING" H- TYPE CIRCUIT: PRECISION, ERGONOMICS AND RELIABILITY The automatic handling circuits benefit from the latest developments of CLEIA. The "self-aligning" H-type circuit make it possible:

• toreducethenumberofhandlings,• to ensure a maximum accessibility for the tiles setting /

unloading,• tosignificantlyreducethesoundlevel,• andfinally,todramaticallydecreasethenumberofbrokenH.

The interest for the operator is that it leads to a high level of availability of the circuit. This No. 5 CS-Coelho Da Silva production unit now represents an outstanding reference in Portugal for the production of high-quality roof tiles.

Since 1927, the family-owned company CS-Coelho Da Silva based in Albergaria (Juncal), Portugal, manufactures bricks, roof tiles and accessories. With over 85 years' experience and driven by corporate values such as quality, research and development of new products, CS-Coelho Da Silva has become an undisputed reference in its industry. Forerunner in many areas:

• firstPortugueseproducerusingplastermouldstoshapethetiles,• firstPortuguesetilemakerfiringitsproductsonindividualH-typefiringtrays• firstPortuguesetilemakerhavinginstalledrobots.

By focusing on technological innovation, these manufacturers have raised their business to match the level of the best performing and distinguished Portuguese companies.

CLEIA PRACTICAL

PRESS REVIEW

CLEIA has developed and launched on the market a major innovation for the drying of bricks and construction blocks: the Zephyr® dryer which combines the advantages of the rapid dryers and the capability of tunnel dryers. The Zephyr® brand and the patent pending are the property of CLEIA.Economic, upgradable and multiproduct, the Zephyr® dryer is perfect for drying hollow products; its modular design also allows the development of new insulating blocks. Multiple combinations of 4, 5 or 6 trays in height can be easily confi gured for loading products at a predefi ned pitch to optimize the ventilation. Reliable loading and unloading equipment designed with precision and smoothness can be performed by robots or a traditional handling system, which allows to be proposed for all types of facilities, new project or renovation of existing plants. The Zephyr® dryer is evolutive and the capacity can easily

be increased with additional tunnels, unlike the dryers with suspended racks and

chain driving systems. The Zephyr® dryer allows different confi gurations range from 300-1500 t/d of bricks for an adjustable cycle from 2-5 h.

The dryer has variable pitch and allows more than 15% increase of capacity

for the same production area. One of the essential drying interest consists of the variable load spacing in depth. For a good drying the cars are widely spaced in the wet zone. In the hot zone cars are automatically tightened allowing a capacity increase of

more than 15%.The Zephyr® dryer is the only tunnel dryer with an automatic adjustment of space loads from 0,8 to 2 m.This dryer is constructed without doors at the entrance as well as at the exit thanks to a special design of the dryer cars. This design creates a perfect sealing which did not required any doors. The drying process is activated during the dryer car transfer, which allows a drying time superior to 90% of the total cycle. The dryer car handling is very simple and the quantities of actuators are reduced.

Using this dryer results in more than 20% decrease of energetic consumptions.Compared to a conventional tunnel dryer, the Zephyr® dryer allows more than 20% decrease of electrical consumption. The amount of moto-ventilators is optimised to perform a perfect fl ow control in the cross section of the tunnel. The company considers that the Zephyr® dryer is the most economical tunnel dryer on the market referring to energy consumptions. The combination of a high-speed longitudinal fl ow - which generates a perfect geometry of the products - coupled to mixing equipment allows a core drying thanks to an active ventilation inside the bricks. The maximal height of the loads does not exceed 2 m to ensure a perfect fl ow control. The moisture control realised in the shrinkage zone allows a fi ne adjustment of the ventilation to obtain a high quality of dried products.

Combines the advantages of the rapid dryers and the capability of tunnel dryers„“
