Following the success of their iconic Frescobol set, Brazilian Beachwear brand FB Collection is delighted to launch a new model for 2012. Frescobol, the popular beach bat and ball game is not just a sport but a way of life in its Brazilian homeland. Named after one of the coolest beaches in Brazil, and made from several strips of carefully sourced Brazilian hard-wood, the Ipanema Frescobol bat uses contrasting wood grain and natural colour to produce a multi-striped pattern. Each bat has its own distinct look. The game is so popular that fashionable Brazilians invest almost as much time in choosing the ideal bat and ball as they do in perfecting their game. Whether you are heading to St. Tropez, the Seychelles or St. Barts, FB Frescobol sets are a timeless beach accessory and a must-have for the summer season. The set is available internationally and is priced at £160.00. DUTY, RESPONSIBILITY, AND PROTOCOL ARE VERY MUCH A PART OF THEIR LIVES NOW, BUT DURING THEIR FIRST YEAR OF MARRIED LIFE, THEIR INTERESTS HAVEN’T BEEN FORGOTTEN EITHER. BOTH WILLIAM AND KATE ENJOY THE OUTDOORS AND VARIOUS SPORTS, AND DURING THEIR FIRST OVERSEAS TOUR IN CANADA, WERE ABLE TO UNDERTAKE SOME LESS FORMAL, MORE ACTIVE ENGAGEMENTS, INCLUDING CANOEING, DRAGON BOAT RACING, COOKOUTS, AND CAMPFIRES.

Kate, or HRH the Duchess of Cambridge as she is now known, is the first ‘non-royal ’ to marry into the Royal Family since the Queen Mother, although her life hasn’t exactly been standard. The Duchess of Cambridge was born in Berkshire in 1982, and was christened Catherine Elizabeth Middleton at a local Church. Kate spent her early childhood in Amman, Jordan, where her father was working, before returning to England and starting school. Well educated, she spent time at St Andrew’s School in Pangbourne, Marlborough College in Wiltshire, and later went on to study for a History of Art degree at St Andrew’s University Scotland. It was here her life was to change forever. The eldest daughter of self-made millionaires Michael and Carole Middleton was famously spotted modelling at a university fashion show by Prince William.

Confirmed as a couple after being spotted skiing and sharing a kiss together in the Swiss Alps, the now fully fledged Royal couple have generated countless column inches ever since, some of which have a local connection. There was a story of another Miss Middleton being selected as Herne Bay Carnival Queen in 2011, and widespread, yet credible rumours, surrounding the wine chosen for one of their private Royal Wedding receptions. The newlyweds wanted to uphold a British theme throughout their Royal wedding, and reportedly chose a wine from the Chapel Down Vineyards in Kent, one of the UK’s biggest wine producers.

Such stories are perhaps quite interesting by-products of being in the public eye, although they are somewhat eclipsed by the headlines Kate has generated for her style, particularly after her engagement to Prince William in 2010, and their wedding, watched by more than 24 million UK viewers alone, in 2011. The Duchess of Cambridge is widely considered as both a follower of fashion, and as she is in the public eye, a style icon too. Whichever title you favour, she had made an impact on the fashion world, with her appropriate choices,

Page 16: SCENE (Kent) May 12

16 SCENE

which often come from her favourite designer high street stores. Items from Reiss, Issa, Zara, and LK Bennett have all sold out, after Kate has been pictured wearing them, and there have even been reports of increased interest in some fashion stores, simply because Kate has visited, or bought items.

Kate as an individual may be noticed for her poise, elegance, and style, but what about William and Kate as a couple? They are currently spending much of their married life off the beaten track, in a rented farmhouse in Anglesey in Wales, where the Duke of Cambridge is serving as an RAF search and rescue helicopter Pilot. In keeping with their down to earth natures, they have shunned offers of staff, and, while they can at least, are enjoying the chance to cook, clean, and shop. They have been keen to enjoy as much privacy as possible, while William Wales, as he is known in the RAF, continues his career, and before they both take on increased responsibilities as fully working members of the Royal Family.

This tour was taken on the Queen’s behalf, as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and not only showed off the Best of Canada as a tourist destination, but gave the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge the opportunity to undertake Royal Duties in both a relaxed and more formal fashion.

As the nation reflects on the couple’s successful overseas tour, and their first year of married life,

people will also remember Kate’s first solo steps as a working Royal, and her desire to support the Royal Family’s role in highlighting important charitable causes. Kate is now Patron or Royal Patron of Action on Addiction, East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH), The Art Room, and The National Portrait Gallery. Action on Addiction and EACH were chosen to reflect Kate’s interest in supporting people in need, while The Art Room, which used art as therapy to build self-esteem and confidence in Children, and the National Portrait Gallery, reflect her continuing interest in art.

A small number of patronages, that reflect the Duchess of Cambridge’s interests, have played a key part in easing her into a Royal working life, particularly as she has undertaken solo engagements while William has been away with the RAF.

Away from the public eyes, and camera lenses, Kate has still found time to sit back, relax, and catch up on television, and there’s one show she has never missed an episode of. During a visit to Alderhey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, this Valentine’s Day, during a conversation with the children, she admitted to liking ‘The Only Way Is Essex’. As Her Royal Highness is Patron of EACH, (who work and organise fundraising events in Essex, as well as Suffolk), perhaps one day a Royal visit will show her what Essex is really all about! The best of Essex will have to wait however, as this summer the Duchess of Cambridge, her husband, and Prince Harry will no doubt be relishing their roles as Official Ambassadors of Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Just as Kate will help inspire the nation to celebrate the best of British Sport, she will no doubt also help inspire and develop a new era for the Royal Family.

ROYALDRY CLEANERS

With forty years in the dry cleaning business Alan Creed still looks for ways to improve his cleaning service. It’s little wonder then that Alan has invested in an innovative and ground-breaking piece of machinery on his premises which looks set to provide many benefits both to his customers and to the ozone layer, notably because it has hugely reduced energy consumption. Now for the science bit... The Nova Cleaning Machine by Union uses a 60% less strength hydro-carbon solvent which gently conditions clothes and cleans dark and lights independently without colour run. And the non-science bit for us clothing fanatics is we get softer clothes, with brighter colour and no static charge. RENTING IS THE NEW WAY TO WEAR DESIGNER - MARIANNA DAVIS REPORTS.

There’s no denying it. One of the most exciting things (if not the most exciting thing) about going to an

event is the outfit. Thinking about it, planning it, shopping for it, trying it on; an outfit is a creative expression of ourselves, a preview of our personalities if you like. Dressing is a very personal thing and can be great fun but it can also be very expensive. That’s before you’ve even contemplated the all important bag: the finishing touch which holds your look together. But oh, does something so small and compact (I’m thinking clutch) really have to cost more than the outfit and the shoes put together? The answer is no. A certain few felt our pain, heard our grumbles and have provided us with a solution: The Borrowers Club (www.theborrowersclub.com). A business made for bag lovers that don’t possess the bag budget. The name says it all but just in case you haven’t quite caught on yet, at The Borrowers Club, you can rent one of latest ‘IT’ bags at accessible prices! Genious. In our current economic climate, expensive is not a word in most people’s vocabulary. All this scrimping and saving has meant that we must either possess the creative flare of Carrie Bradshaw’s stylist-not to mention the body to go with it-or quite simply play it safe. Now for the fashionistas out there, safe is not an option or definitely

not an appealing one anyway. But we all know that keeping up with the latest trends means spending all if not more than the latest pay check. So as our money belts have been tightened we have sensibly opted for the practical rather than the daring. Last season’s Kate Middleton-has-bored-the-trend-to-death nude peep toes have begrudgingly been favoured over the citrus yellow mules ‘because they’ll go with more’. Dreams of a designer statement outfit that would get heads turning will have to be shelved for another time as will meeting your future husband. Well, let’s not be dramatic here. A snog.

Cue the cunningly clever entrepreneurs who have jumped over this economic hurdle and landed right into a cracking business idea. Renting your outfit. Of course, I hear you all cry with relief. After all, we rent houses because we can’t afford the deposit to buy one so why not outfits? It makes perfect economical sense. Not only can we avoid huge spending, we can also avoid the same safe-but-dull outfits to see us through party season. No condescending ‘Oh I remember that dress: you wore it last year’ comments for us, thank you very much! Girl Meets Dress (www.girlmeetsdress.com) and Wish Want Wear(www.wishwantwear.com) are

just two of these companies offering fantastic outfits for any occasion, at very low prices.

Whether you fancy yourself in a colourful Missoni number or perhaps a more demure See by Chloe design, you can bet you’ll find something you like here. But it’s not just the dress/jumpsuit/tailored short suit that has centre stage these days. Accessories are playing a much larger role in the glamour steaks and can really take an outfit from simple to sublime. And because they aren’t restricted to certain body shapes (Lara Stone’s off the top of my head), you can be as garish or subtle as your mood takes you! At The Borrowers Club (www.theborrowersclub.com) rentals start from £35 for a 5 day period and signing up is free! Yes, dreams of parading around with that designer bag in tow can now be a reality. Whether you’re looking for a fun clutch to match your wedding outfit or you just fancy showing off an oversized Louis Vuitton for a few days, the choice is yours! With this new funds-friendly concept, planning an outfit is cheap and cheerful. Just make sure you stay clear of the prize boozer with unsteady feet. Red wine stains never were a good look..

Q: I am worried about Gum Disease, what should I do?A: Gum Disease is the biggest cause of tooth loss in the UK. Bacteria found in gum disease have also been found in heart disease so it is very so it is very important to maintain a healthy smile as it could have more serious health consequences. If you are worried that you may have any oral health problem you should visit your dentist for a health check. Your dentist should carry out a dental examination with x-rays. Depending on how developed the gum disease is the dentist should carry out gum treatment to sort out the issues. Some dentists do not have the facilities to carry out this treatment so it is important they refer you to somewhere that can. There are many factors that contribute to gum disease e.g. smoking, genetics, stress, oral hygiene and irregular attendance at the dentist. And don’t worry – if you do lose teeth, they can be replaced very easily and immediately!

Q: Does Botox Hurt?A: Hyperactivity of the facial expression muscles often results in the development of deep frown lines, forehead lines and/or crow’s feet. Injecting Botox into the affected area temporarily relaxes the underlying muscles responsible for wrinkling, giving the face a more youthful and pleasant appearance. The wrinkles become smoother or disappear altogether. The initial effects of treatment become visible within 48 to 72 hours. The maximum effect is reached in about 1 to 2 weeks.Your facial expression will become more relaxed but by no means mask-like. The overall result is very natural. The effect of treatment generally lasts for about three to four months. And NO! It doesn’t hurt! Dr Jas can perform almost painless Botox injections.

Q: I have black lines under my old crowns – how can I get rid of them?A: Crowns that were made a few years ago were made of a metal core with an outer layer of porcelain to make them look more like a tooth. Over time the gum shrinks back from the edge of the crowns and exposes the metal edging of the crown. They were made like this for strength. It is this metal edging that looks like a black line when it is exposed or it can be the discoloured tooth beneath the crowns. In the last few years it has become possible to make crowns of all porcelain. This means that when the gum recedes away from the crown it does not show a dark line. The only way to get rid of the black lines is to have new crowns made of all porcelain.

Oscar Udeshi

OSCAR UDESHI IS THE FOUNDER AND HEAD DESIGNER OF U D E S H I MENSWEAR, BASED IN THE HEART OF MAYFAIR, LONDON, EQUIDISTANT FROM SAVILE ROW AND JERMYN STREET. HE JOINS US THIS MONTH AS OUR GUEST MEN’S STYLE COLUMNIST.

Having grown up in the far east where we had ample sunlight, I could always tell the newly

arrived expats, or visitors from back home. They usually had snow white skin and wore the most wrinkled linen clothes I had ever seen. They looked as if they slept in them, which they probably did on the overnight flight. As we possessed an iron and knew how to use it, I incorrectly assumed other people did too.

Fast forward two decades, and we now hardly see anyone wearing linen except the burly chap who is wearing the drawstring trousers and the Ibiza drinking contest T-shirt looking like a rejected extra from a 1970s Kung Fu film. It doesn’t need to be this way.

Linen is the quintessential summer fabric. Nothing says summer, sunshine and warm weather like a linen item of clothing. Linen also creases, that is the nature

of linen. Some call it annoying, others beautiful. It can be kept in moderation by buying items made of linen blended with cotton, silk or mohair. This mitigates some of linen’s tendency to crease, but does not distract from the look. Having an item that is washable like a shirt or our boxer shorts, works well in linen because the items can be easily ironed and the heat not only removes creases, it helps give a luxurious softness over time as well. I would not recommend a light linen blazer as an everyday jacket, unless one takes meticulous care and does not move in it. If it is ironed too often and incorrectly, it has a tendency to go shiny. Worse still are non-washable linen trousers, which go from beautiful to the trousers of a vagabond in one long day. Light colours on non-washable items, like a white linen suit, are also a no no and should be kept for the movies. It is going to get as dirty as any other colour, one just sees the dirt more easily, and can’t get rid of it.

Don’t get me wrong, I love linen. I love linen boxer shorts that just get softer and more decadent after each washing, I adore linen polos and shirts that breathe and let me feel the breeze through the fabric. I know I am on vacation when I wear linen shirts a few days in a row, it brings a smile to my face. My cotton and linen jeans sell out every year. I love the texture, the touch, the colour – the subtle shades of earth, sky and sea. For me linen is summer.

I almost wear my caramel coloured linen, wool and silk blazer every day in summer. Recently a client for whom I had made such a blazer came by to thank me for it four years later. He said he had stopped counting the number of compliments he had received for wearing it, not only because it fit him the way it should, but because it looked like linen, felt like linen but without any of the fabric’s drawbacks. To each their own, just no drawstring kung fu trousers please.

For the past few years, most of those people will have walked by seeing nothing more than a mass of

scaffolding and billboards, unaware of the gargantuan project that this constructional façade conceals.Behind all the metal and walkways lies The London Hippodrome. From its grand beginnings over a century ago as a Victorian circus and cabaret, through to becoming the quintessential Motown venue, ‘Talk of the Town’, and even a Peter Stringfellows nightclub - the venue has played host to such influential artists as Charlie Chaplin, The Great Houdini, Diana Ross and Cliff Richard. In its latest reincarnation, this iconic building will be

transformed into the largest casino in Europe.

Last month, Scene Magazine had the pleasure of taking an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the project; planned to be completed by the end of June this year. The scale of the redevelopment is absolutely huge. The old theatre is to be transformed into a 99,000 square foot leviathan of entertainment, featuring three floors of gaming, a fully decked out stage for theatrical and musical performances, a huge selection of private rooms for hire, a 200 capacity brasserie restaurant, and no less than four cocktail bars, serving drinks by expert mixologist, Tony Conigliaro.

WITH OVER 250,000 PEOPLE TURNING IT EVERY DAY, THE CORNER OF LEICESTER SQUARE AND CHARING CROSS ROAD - IN THE HEART OF LONDON’S WEST END - IS THE MOST PASSED THROUGH PLACE IN THE WHOLE OF EUROPE.

Open 24 hours a day, and serving drinks from between 10am and 5:30am, the casino is set to become the centrepiece of West End adult leisure.

Avid gamers can expect an incredibly diverse choice, from the classic offerings of roulette, poker blackjack and slot machines, to a whole floor dedicated to electronic gaming. George Constantinou, Head of Online Gaming who kindly showed us round, emphasised the importance of catering for the local Chinese community. He commented, “Not only will the casino dedicate the entire bottom floor to Chinese gaming, but the building will also host a new Chinese community centre.” He also spoke of the importance of the online market; indeed, The Hippodrome will lead the way in an innovative process of streaming the action from the main gaming floor live to its online site, where users will be able to bet in real time, and even cash in the money that they win on the web in person at the Casino itself.

George hopes that the area situated at the top of the building, grandly named ‘At The Gods’, will be “the most spectacular place to play

poker in the world” - and it’s easy to see why. Standing on the balcony, there is an awe-inspiring view four stories down to the main gaming floor. When we visited, the insides of the building were still very much taking shape; even so, it was already possible to appreciate the true majesty of the place, as well as the effort that has gone into the casino’s design, the essence of which is a seamless and elegant blend of the classic with the contemporary. Whilst stripping back the interior to the original 1920s design by the architect, Frank Matcham, there will also feature impressive illuminated walkways and, with another nod to the building’s great history, huge space-age spheres of classic theatre lights.

It’s hard to see how the Hippodrome Casino will not be a success. The passion, vision and expertise behind the project is absolutely unrivalled and the intelligence and quality of the design is sure to impress the crowds. When the casino opens this year, Leicester Square’s reputation as one of the world’s most auspicious entertainment destinations will no doubt be cemented in history.

WHAT THOMAS DUNTON CAN DO FOR YOU

It is never too early to write your will but if you leave it too late it can cause problems for your intended beneficiaries.

It is always recommended that you have a valid Will as it enables you to:• Say who you wish to benefit from your estate;• Consider and provide financial care and guardianship for your children or future children and other dependants;• Avoid the complications of intestacy (where you die without having made a Will);• Enables you to appoint the most appropriate person to manage your estate as Executor.

We recommend you review your Will every two to three years. It should be updated to reflect any change in your circumstances, including:• If you have recently married;• In contemplation of marriage;• Buying a property in joint names;• If you are contemplating divorce proceedings;• If anyone mentioned in your Will has died;• Any major change in your financial circumstances, such as an inheritance;• Changes in the law relating to Inheritance Tax.

Grant of Letters of Administration has to be obtained appointing Personal Representatives to administer the estate.

Don’t leave legal issues too late: seek advice at the earliest stage.

The information in this article is of a general nature and

may not reflect your individual circumstance

Your estate will be distributed in accordance with the Law of Intestacy. If you have no relatives your whole estate could go to the crown!A widow may not automatically inherit all her husband’s estate and vice versa. Cohabitees will not benefit. A

Probate is the administration of a person’s estate upon death. If you have a Will your Executor applies for probate if the estate is over £5000. If under £5000 it may be possible to administer the estate without a Grant of Probate.

Anyone over the age of 18 who has the full mental capacity to understand the use and effect of an LPA.

No IHT is payable if the estate does not exceed the Nil Rate Tax Band. IHT is payable at the rate of 40% on the value of your estate over the Nil Rate Band.Your estate may attract tax exemptions.IHT must be paid before the estate can be distributed We can also advise on the rules relating to life time gifts to reduce your inheritance tax liabilities.

An LPA is an convenient instrument that allows:• Your Attorney to deal with your affairs including finances; •You to determine your arrangements for your future care.

In the event that you are unable to manage your affairs personally an application has to be made on your behalf to the Court of Protection. A Receiver, usually a member of your family, will be appointed by the Court to manage your affairs. This may be time consuming and costly. This may also cause inconvenience and distress to you and your family.

A Power of Attorney is a powerful legal document whereby you give authority to another person to manager your affairs and to take actions on your behalf. This person is known as your Attorney. You can also appoint an Attorney to carry out a specific action, for example, act on your behalf in a property transaction. A Power of Attorney will not continue if you lose mental capacity.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) can be drawn up which gives your Attorney the power to act on your behalf and to do anything that you, yourself, can lawfully do with your estate whilst you are livingThe Power can be delayed until certain circumstances occur, for example, should you become mentally and/or physically incapacitated.A Lasting Power of Attorney can continue whilst you are mentally incapable of managing your affairs.

Using our years of experience and listening carefully to your needs, we can advise and help to plan for situations that you may not have considered. Thus ensuring that your estate is protected and eventually passed on to those you wish to inherit. We are always happy to speak to you on the telephone and to answer any questions you may have. For advice on your individual circumstances or to obtain a free quote, please contact us on Freephone 0800 371219 or [email protected]

These beautiful cars are timeless in their appeal, but in the modern world technology moves rapidly

and Rolls-Royce cannot afford to stand still. So they have embraced that famous maxim of their founding forefather Sir Henry Royce who, a century ago, encouraged his teams to take the best that exists and to make it better.

Now Rolls-Royce proudly presents Phantom Series II a family of ultra-luxurious cars that have been thoughtfully updated with the introduction of cutting-edge technologies, enhancements to an already peerless drivetrain and improvements in connectivity that reflect the new world in which we live.

The launch of the Rolls-Royce Phantom on 1st January 2003 was much more than the reveal of a new ultra-luxury car; it signalled the 21st Century renaissance of the world’s most famous luxury automobile brand and the first glimpse of a masterpiece that quickly

established itself at the pinnacle of automotive excellence.

From launch, the Rolls-Royce Phantom proved itself a worthy recipient of the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine. From Pantheon grille to long rear overhang, the design was clearly a Rolls-Royce. Every angle revealed a bold yet elegant car with road presence that was second to none.

For such an imposing car, Phantom surprised drivers with its agility and precision in motion while its ride was described by the company at the time as ‘designed to lower the pulse’. The magnificently sublime ride, famed through model generations, had returned and waftability re-affirmed itself in the company lexicon.

At the car’s core lay a ground-breaking, lightweight aluminium space-frame with power supplied by a sophisticated, direct-injection V12 engine, married to a six-speed auto gearbox. And complementing this excellence

ROLL LIKE A ROYAL“FROM LAUNCH IN 2003, THE ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM QUICKLY ESTABLISHED A REPUTATION AT THE VERY PINNACLE OF AUTOMOTIVE EXCELLENCE, A REPUTATION THAT HAS BEEN REINFORCED BY THE INTRODUCTION OF OUTSTANDING MODEL DERIVATIVES LIKE THE PHANTOM DROPHEAD COUPÉ AND PHANTOM COUPÉ.”

in engineering was Phantom’s beautiful interior, presenting hand-stitched sumptuous leathers, fine veneers and exquisite detailing, a combination that marked the car as something uniquely special.

Phantom’s striking and modern front end best encapsulates the essence of changes that lie beneath, with re-styled bumpers and rectangular light apertures that frame full-LED light clusters. These allow the integration of new technologies like curve light functionality, where headlamp beams are reflected in the direction of travel to provide greater illumination of the road ahead when cornering. And adaptive headlamps, where light patterns change automatically and - of course - effortlessly in response to different driving speeds.

Phantom’s already sublime drive-train has also been enhanced. The addition of a new 8-speed automatic gearbox and rear differential perfectly complement the V12 direct injection engine,

Page 37: SCENE (Kent) May 12

SCENE 37

improving exemplary dynamics, as well as the famous Rolls-Royce promise of a magic carpet ride. Fuel consumption improves by 10 percent on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions fall from 385 to 347g/km as a consequence (388 to 349 for Phantom Extended Wheelbase).

Effortless is a word that perhaps best epitomises the Phantom experience, both for drivers and their passengers. So an improved user interface, as well as the addition of new driver assistance technologies, have been built on the foundation of a new electronics’ platform for Phantom Series II. The satellite navigation system, for example, has been fully updated with functions that include

3D map display with landscape topography, guided tours, as well as enhanced points of interest and composite route planning.

Audio visual content, satellite navigation maps and driver information is presented on Phantom’s new 8.8 inch control centre display, underlined by eight programmable bookmarks in chrome for optimum convenience in selecting key functions. Front, rear and top-view camera systems, further augment Phantom’s ease of use particularly when driving in tight urban environments. When reverse parking for example, rear path prediction automatically deploys on-screen.

Aries 21 Mar-19 Apr Time to reflect, not on your future, but on what you can do today for yourself and others – there is not much time to lose and so an itinerary of what is necessary and what must be put right is so important to give you that necessary peace of mind, which has not been there for a long time. You owe it to yourself.

Sagittarius 22 Nov-21 Dec You must begin in earnest to change your life for the better. A new planetary impulse will see you take the chance of which there will be no regrets, only a loving and peace-ful existence. It is high time you did it, as you have been deliberating for far too long now. Take this golden oppor-tunity while it still exists. It won’t be there for long.

Capricorn 22 Dec-19 Jan You have come a long way in your life and your career. This now is the joy of the wisdom that you have created to forge ahead with new impetus and a new pulse to secure everything you hold most dear and sacred. Nothing will ever leave you or be taken away from you again. This you can feel confident about and take comfort in that fact.

Aquarius 20 Jan-18 FebTo create a better future for yourself, you have to come to terms with the past and finally let that part of your life go. There were trying times, but the rest is beautiful with much hope and promise. You deserve a better part of that life coming to you. Don’t stop that progress. Leave the past and know a better future is there for you.

Pisces 19 Feb-20 MarAll that you ever wished for is there before you. See yourself as great and see how others acknowledge that greatness, not in the usual way of notoriety that is already there for you, but to a higher level of achievement that few can aspire to. These natural gifts cannot be learnt. They are acquired through individual progress at a time that has been allocated for you.

Taurus 20 Apr-20 May A mountain of work coming in, of which you must be ready at all times to receive and to work for. It will help to aid you in these difficult times and enable you to forge ahead on a new path of activity not known before. You are now emerging into a new and more profitable life. You will see it and trust it.

Scorpio 23 Oct-21 NovYou must begin in earnest to change your life for the better. A new planetary impulse will see you take the chance of which there will be no regrets, only a loving and peaceful existence. It is high time you did it, as you have been deliberating for far too long now. Take this golden opportunity while it still exists. It won’t be there for long.

Libra 23 Sep-22 Oct A new spectrum of light, which will help you focus on what is right and important in your life. It is high time you moved on and out and go your separate ways. You have been living a drift wood sort of life. Now you can at last make a difference to yourself and be a part of this world, not as a separate entity.

Gemini 21 May-20 JunNow, as life becomes more steadier for you to manage and equally to appreciate, it goes without saying that you have deserved this breakthrough and can go forwards with increasing strength and vigour. Begin to see life as if you are a part of it and not separate from it. You have come a long way and there is more to satisfy you out there.

Leo 23 Jul-22 Aug What was once an impossible dream is well on course to becoming a true reality. Notice how the wind of change is all around you. You are feeling the impetus to go forwards as never before. Seek out that job application and begin to see a turnaround of events, which will amaze you as never before. It really is in your stars to make that difference.

Cancer 21 Jun-22 JulEvery time you think you have won, another problem seems to rear its ugly head around you. Is there no rest from this mayhem and turmoil? Look at life in another way. By focussing on this problem you are saved, as you are able to deal with it and grow with confidence. All is a learning curve for you, something you have not yet thought about.

Virgo 23 Aug-22 Sep Now it is make or break time. You are headed for a fall unless you sort out your finances, which are about to topple over. Once you have grasped the source of the problem you will deal with it swiftly and efficiently, leaving you in a more stable position than when you first started. Begin to see matters more clearly so you can make that difference.

BRIAN MODLOCK IS THE HARD-WORKING MANAGING DIRECTOR OF RIXSON & GREEN, A BESPOKE BATHROOM COMPANY BASED IN SHORTLANDS BROMLEY. BRIAN HAS BEEN AT THE HELM FOR 7 YEARS, AND IS PROUD TO HAVE DEVELOPED THE BUSINESS INTO AN EXCEPTIONAL PROVIDER OF HIGH END EUROPEAN BATHROOM FITTINGS.

Hi Brian. Where are you originally from?I’m originally from Bermondsey – or, the borough as I should probably call it – but I moved here to Bromley over 30 years ago and I’ve been a man of Kent ever since.

What do you think of the area? It’s great. The facilities are excellent and there are plenty of restaurants and shops to choose from. Of course, it’s also very convenient to get into the city, which I do quite frequently.

Tell us a bit about how Rixson & Green started. The company has been around for a long time – around 30 years. It was originally founded by two chaps called Bob Rixson and Jeff Green, which is where the name comes from, and I took over 7 years ago after they retired.

What makes the company special? We pride ourselves on the personal touch. We offer excellent customer service and advice for all our clients and strive to make sure you get a top quality bathroom that lasts and looks fantastic. We’re also the only

high end dealer in Bromley, and the only one that stock Villeroy & Boch.

Tell us more about Villeroy & Boch. They are a German company that are one of the best ceramic manufacturers in the world. Put simply, they offer exceptional quality products for a decent price. The best thing is that they produce everything you need; from tiles, to taps, to showers and baths. So if you like their style you can kit out your whole bathroom.

What do you like to do on your days off?Relax. I’m so busy during the week at the showroom that when I get home all I want to do is sit around and watch telly. I don’t do any sports. When I get the chance I like to go with the family into the city and go to a nice restaurant. I love the Covent Garden area and we go there a lot.

You sound like you have a very successful business. Any plans to expand? Not really. We think it’s more important to focus on what we already have. We’re constantly refurbishing the showroom, keeping up to date with the latest products and brands and making sure our customers get the best that’s available.

Thanks for your time Brian and we wish you all the best for the future.
