Pickleball/Badminton CampsPickleball is a combination of ping pong, tennis and badminton. This competitive game for experienced players uses wood and graphite paddles and unique plastic balls. It is easy to learn, provides plenty of exercise and played on a badminton court. You don’t have to be strong, quick, athletic or good at other sports. This game is not about power, but shot placement and accuracy. Professional Soccer AcademyLearn the ins and outs of soccer from Professional Soccer Academy instructors, former professional soccer players and college athletes. All facets of soccer including dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting and defense are worked on throughout the week. Campers receive a T-shirt, water bottle and soccer bag. The last day of camp is spent at the Fun Zone at Soccer City Indoor Arenas. Each camper experiences an inflatable obstacle course, 20-foot slide and the Jumper. Skyhawks Flag Football CampsThis camp introduces the core skills of passing, catching and de-flagging/defensive positioning. Participants can showcase their skills at the Skyhawks Sports Bowl. Skyhawks Golf Camp Golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting and body position-ing. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG utilizes a set of equipment designed for beginning golfers including oversized plastic club heads and ‘mini tennis balls’ to help build confidence and have fun. Developed by PGA professionals, SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player. All equipment is provided. Skyhawks Skateboarding CampBeginners receive basic skateboarding instruction with an emphasis on balance, pushing the board, kick-turns, maneuvering and manual. Intermediates learn maneuvers including ollies, shuv-its, kick-flips, board-slides and grinds on flatland, transitions, ramps and rails. A liability form must be signed by a parent before participation. Camp is directed by instructors from Skyhawks Sports Academy. Skyhawks Track & Field CampUsing special equipment, Skyhawks staff teaches the standard track and field events including long distance, sprints, soft hurdles, relays, shot put, discus and standing long-jump. The exercises and drills prepare athletes for cross country, track and field, and distance running. Body positioning, stride, proper stretching and cool-down techniques are covered. Skyhawks T-Ball LeagueSkyhawks T-Ball is designed for young athletes to discover the excite-ment of competition while learning the basics of baseball. The first week of the program will consist of two training sessions to introduce the participants to the program. During this time, the coaching staff will be evaluating the participants so that teams may be created equally. The participants will be separated into teams for the first team practice and given a Skyhawks T-shirt to use as their uniforms. Volleyball CampsThese volleyball camps are instructed by Jane Addams Jr. High coaches Dan Hallman and Lisa Heidler. Basic to advanced skills are taught based on ability. No prior volleyball experience is needed. Kneepads and gym shoes are required. Camps are for incoming seventh and eighth graders. Fruits and Veggies to the Rescue CampParents know fruits and veggies are important to kids’ health and nutrition. But getting them to eat their fruits and veggies isn’t easy. This program taps into kids’ imaginations and love of superheroes to inspire them to

“love and eat” their fruits and veggies. Schaumburg Park District is seeking enthusiastic 13 to 15-year-olds who want to become leaders and potential staff members. Applicants must be 13 years old by Sept. 1, 2014.This fun experience is a great way to introduce the concept of employment responsibilities to teens. There will be a required fee of $20/$30 for the Junior Leader program. The fee is payable when registering for a Junior Leader interview or a returning Junior Leader information night.

FOR 13 TO 15-YEAR-OLDS (Must meet age requirement by Sept. 1, 2014)

JUNIOR LEADER PROGRAM

New Applicants• Complete the Junior Leader application available at

www.parkfun.com, CRC, PSC and MRC after March 3.• Submit the required application and two recommendation

forms before Friday, March 21 to: Kathy Moulds Pat Shephard Center 421 N. Springinsguth Road Schaumburg, IL 60194• Register for one of the group interviews on April 1, 7 or 8.

Detailed information will be included with the Junior Leader paperwork. The $20/$30 registration fee for the interview is a required fee for all Junior Leader participants.

• All individuals chosen to be a Junior Leader must register for the mandatory kick-off meeting on June 7.

Returning Junior LeadersIf you are interested in returning to the Junior Leader program, there is no need to re-apply. If you do not receive a letter by March 3, contact the Pat Shephard Center at 847/490-7036. Returning leaders must register online for one of the information nights on April 1, 7 or 8 and the mandatory kick-off meeting on June 7. The $20/$30 registration fee for the information night is a required fee for all 2014 Junior Leader participants.

Kick-Off Meeting: Saturday, June 7 • 9AM-Noon • CRCJunior Leaders must register and attend the kick-off training meeting. There will be mini training sessions and a pizza lunch.

Parents will attend an informational meeting at the same time their child attends their interview or meeting.
