HOLIDAYS AT ASBI ASBI WOMEN: SIMCHAT TORAH

Every year, the women of Anshe Sholom gather together on the morning of Simchat Torah to celebrate the Torah. This year, our celebration of the Torah will take place in two parts.

First, we will have four stations where women will have the opportunity to be called up for group aliyot. This part of our celebration will be similar to the way that men and women in synagogues around the world celebrate Simchat Torah. These stations will be led by expert leiners who will concurrently and swiftly read through the first five aliyot of V’zot Habracha.

The second part of our celebration will be in continuity with the special way that the women at ASBI have been celebrating the holiday for many years. We will all gather in the middle to hear the end of our yearly reading of the Torah and begin anew. We will call up a Kallat Torah, whom we will honor with the final aliyah of the Torah scroll. This reading will be read line by line, and all women in our community are invited to sign up for anywhere between 1 and 5 pasukim of this reading. After the Torah has been completed, we will bring out a second Torah, rolled to Bereishit, and call up our Kallat Bereishit, a second honoree. Bereishit will similarly be read line by line, and these pasukim are also open for anyone who would like to sign up for 1-5 pasukim.

This is a wonderful morning in shul, and the more women we have present, the more special it is. We hope that you’ll join us and we encourage everyone to sign up to read a few pasukim of Devarim or Bereishit. We also need volunteers to get our stations set up quickly and organize our aliyot and readers.

To sign up, please visit tinyurl.com/asbi-simchat-torah or email Rabbanit Sarna at [email protected].

Lulav & Etrog Sets Pre-ordered sets will be available for pickup here at ASBI,
