Sir/Madam,

Like previous year, the schedule of Inter District Cultural competitions for school students will be

held from 7th December, 2019 to 21st December, 2019. All the DDEs/SPEs/Conveners of districts are

requested to inform the participants accordingly and send the complete entries in the prescribed

performa latest by 6th December, 2019 to the undersigned. The Competitions for the students will be held

in the following categories:-

Guidelines of Inter Distt. Cultural Competitions of Students 2019-19

1. FOLK DANCE (Separate Competition for Boys & Girls) :

(i) Dress according to the folk. (ii) No. of participants shall be 12-20 on the stage along with ( optional)

maximum 8 singing students in the background.. (iii) Time limit is 5-7 minutes (with extra 2 minutes for stage setup) (iv) Four Indian instruments are allowed according to the folk dance. (v) Live music should not be on film based (vi) Teachers can play the music & can sing the song to accompany the

students. (vii) No electronic instrument is allowed.

2. FOLK SONG (Traditional but not based on film tune) :

(i) There will be separate competition for boys & girls (ii) Dress according to the folk (Mandatory at Inter District level). (iii) No. of participants shall be from 12-20. (iv) Time limit is 5-6 minutes. (v) Maximum 4 Indian instruments are allowed according to the folk. (vi) Slight movement is allowed but no dancing movement is allowed. (vii) Props will not be given any preference, try to avoid unnecessary props.

3. GROUP PATRIOTIC SONG

(i) There will be separate competition for boys & girls. (ii) Dress for boys & girls: white dress/White uniform (iii) Time limit is 5-7 minutes. (iv) No. of participants shall be from 12-20.

(v) Three instruments are allowed: (a) Harmonium. (b) Tabla / Dholak / Naal / Cango - bongo. (c) Cabacus / Dhapli/ Khanjari/Manzira.

4. DRAMA :

(i) There will be only one competition. A team shall consist of girls only or boys only or boys & girls mixed of the same school.

(ii) Time limit for the play is minimum 20 minutes and maximum 25 minutes.

(iii) Number of participants in a play should be 10-15. (iv) In Back ground light music is allowed (to be arranged by the group

them- selves). No electronic instrument or recorded music is allowed.

5. QAWWALI (Separate competition for Boys & Girls) :

(i) A team shall consist of girls only or boys only of the same school. (ii) No. of participants between 12-20. (iii) Time limit is 5-7 minutes. (iv) Dress - Qawwali costumes (Mandatory at Inter district level). (v) No filmy Qawwali or tune is allowed. (vi) Maximum 4 Indian instruments are allowed.

6. BAND :

(i) Separate competition for boys & girls. (ii) No. of participation shall be from 30 to 35. (iii) Time limit is 7-10 minutes including drummers call & formation. (iv) No film based tune or National Anthem tune is allowed. (v) Competition is open for all schools.

7. DEBATE (Hindi & English) : (Sr. Boys & Sr. girl, Jr. boys & Jr. girls)

(i) Separate competition for all 4 groups. (ii) 3 to 5 minutes is allowed for each participant. (iii) Both the participants must be from the same school.

10. POETRY RECITATION: (Punjabi & Urdu): (Sr. Boys, Jr. boys, Sr. girls & Jr. girls)

(i) Time limit is 3-5 minutes. (iii) Competition will take place in two groups (i) Sr. Boys & Sr. girls (ii) Jr.

11. ESSAY WRITING (Hindi & English):- (Sr. Boys, Jr. boys, Sr. girls, & Jr. girls)

(i) Maximum time limit is 11/2 hrs.

(ii) Only paper sheet will be provided by the organizers. (iii)Topic will be given on the Spot. (iv) Separate competition for all 4 groups.

12. SOLO CLASSICAL DANCE:- (Sr. Boys & Sr. Girls)

(i) Time allowed is 5- 8 minutes. (ii) Recorded classical music in pen drive/live music is allowed. (iii) Film music is not allowed.

13. NUKKAD NATAK :

(i) No. of participants 10-15 including accompanist. (ii) Timing: minimum 6 minutes and maximum 8 minutes. (iii) Uniformity of Costumes (Kurta and Jeans/Pajama/Chudidar Pajami

&Dupatta, if needed). (iv) Traditional instruments likes: Dhapli, Dholak & Damru. (v) No electronic instrument is allowed. (vi) Props are not allowed. (vii)Theme should be related to social issues.

14. MONO ACTING :- (Sr. & jr. Boys & Girls)

(i) One participant. (ii) Dialogue should be there. (iii)Timings 3 to 5 minutes. (iv)Props are not allowed. (v)Only white dress/uniform is allowed (vi)No make-up and background music is allowed.

15. VISUAL ART COMPETITION

Note: One student can take part in any two Visual Art activities (One competition from each activity group maximum two competitions) as grouped below:

Note: Its a Solo Competition. Students can participate only in one competition either in Classical/ Semi Classical or Light Music.

(a) LIGHT MUSIC (Geet, Gazal & Bhajan)

(i) Time limit is maximum 3 to 5 minutes. (ii) Instrument (Only three are allowed) - Tabla/ Phakhawaj/Tanpura

/Dholak/ Harmonium/ Manjira/ Cabacus/Dhapli/Khanjari/Goongru.

(iii) Composition shall not be based on film tunes (iv) No electronic instruments are allowed

(b) CLASSICAL (Khayal/ Dhrupad/Dhamar)

Note: There will be one competition for Sr. Boys & Sr. Girls (Combined) and Jr. Boys & Jr. Girls (Combined)

(i) Time limit is 8 -10 minutes. (ii) Instrument Harmonium/ Tabla/Tanpura. (iii) Only SA-PA-SA on Harmonium. (iv) Tanpura(Electronic Tanpura is allowed).

(c) SEMI CLASSICAL :- Chaiti/Kajari/Dadara/Thumari/Tappa etc.

NOTE:- There will be one competition for Sr./Jr. Boys & Sr./Jr. Girls)

(i) Time limit is 5- 7 minutes.

(ii) Instrument - Harmonium/ Tabla/Dholak/Nall/Majira/ Ghungroo/ Khanjari/any Indian Instrument (only three are allowed).

17. INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC:

Note: There will be one competition for Sr. Boys and Sr. Girls (combined) and Jr. boys and Jr. Girls (combined). Student can participate only in one competition either in Swar or Percussion Vaadya.

There will be one competition for Sr. boys & Sr. girls (Combined) and Jr. Boys & Jr. Girls(Combined)

(i) Time limit is 5- 07 minutes. (ii) Swar Instrument : Sitar/Violin/Gittar/Sarod /flute/sarangi/harmonium or

any Indian Instrument. There will be one competition for Sr. Boys and Sr. Girls (combined) and Jr. Boys and Jr. Girls (combined).

(iii) Percussion Instrument : Tabla/Pakhavaj/Mridang/Dholak. There will be one competition for Sr. Boys and Sr. Girls (combined) and Jr. Boys and Jr. Girls (combined).

(iv) Lahara on harmonium or any other instrument is allowed.

18. ORCHESTRA

(i) Maximum number of participants 10-15. At least 10 with different instruments.

(ii) Time allowed is 8- 10 minutes. (iii) No film based tune is allowed. (iv) There will be only one competition either boys/ girls or combined group.

General Instructions:-

1. Only the first place holder/winner at District level competitions will participate in Inter District Cultural Competitions.

2. Junior participant should be a student of class VI to VIII and senior participant should be a student from IX to XII Class.

3. A Student can take part only in two category of Visual Art. 4. In Vocal Music a student can take part in one competition Classical /Semi

Classical or light Music. 5. In Instrumental Music a student can participate only in one competition either

in Swar or Percussion Vaadya.

Note:- White dress/uniform is compulsory for the events except Folk Group Dance, Folk Group Song. Drama.Quawwali. Band.Classical Dance Solo and Nukkad Natak.

You are requested to forward the result of the first place holder at District level Cultural competition duly signed by DDE District and District Coordinator (SPE), to the undersigned latest by 6th December, 2019 positively.
