Bins (Rubbish & Recycling)It is the schools responsibility to ensure that the bins are used correctly, and there is access for our crews to collect and empty the bins.

Enfield Council offer rubbish and recycling bins

• Chamberlains or Euro bins - General rubbish

•Euro bins - Dry Recycling (mixed)

General Waste Containers These come in various sizes

660 litres Euro bin o Height = 1310 mm o Width = 1260 mm o Depth = 730 mm

940 litres Chamberlin o Height = 1500 mm o Width = 1020 mm o Depth = 975 mm

1100 litres Euro bin o Height = 1370 mm o Width = 1260 mm o Depth = 990 mm

Recycling bins These come in various sizes

660 litres Euro Bin o Height = 1310 mm o Width = 1260 mm o Depth = 730 mm

1280 litres Euro Bin o Height = 1430 mm o Width = 1260 mm o Depth = 985 mm

The size and number of bins required should be decided upon the number of pupils attending the school, an approximate ratio is 1 x 1100 litres per 100 students. If you require a site visit to determine what bins will fit in your bin areas, please email our Commercial Waste Officers on [email protected]

Bin Collections• Currentlyweoperateonaweeklycollection

• BinsarecollectedondifferentdaysoftheweekdependingontheareaoftheBorough,please contact our Commercial Waste Officer on [email protected] for information.

• Accesstothebinlocationsmustbemadeavailable.

• IfKeys/Fobsarenecessarytoenterthebincollections, the crews must have copies. We would need 3, one for Refuse crew, one for Recycling crews and a spare one.

• Iftherearecodesneededtoenterthesite,wewould need the code to be able to get in and empty the bins.

• Crewsmusthaveaccess(ie:thebinsarenotblocked in by excess rubbish)

• Crewsmustbeabletomovethebins(ie:thebinsare not overloaded and too heavy to lift, lids need to be closed)

• Thebinsmusthavethecorrectrecyclingitemsinthem(ie:not‘contaminated’)

Reason for non-collection

• Alloftheabove(ie:accessproblems)

• Carparked–blockingaccess–pleaseemailwww.enfield.gov.uk or call our Customer Service Centre on 020 8379 1000.

Contaminated’ bins

Anyclearupswillincuracharge.Educatingyourstaff would be advisable and recycling information distributed. To assist you, the Council has produced recycling education packs including template letters, leaflets and posters that you can distribute to your staff and cleaners. These can be downloaded at www.enfield.gov.uk/estatesrecycling.Torequesthardcopies, please email [email protected].

School not open

If there are hours during the day not suitable for collections, please let us know.

For missed collections

You will need to report this online www.enfield.gov.uk or call our Customer Service Centre on 020 8379 1000 as soon as possible, within 24hours–oritmaynotgetemptieduntilthenextscheduled collection.

Excess Rubbish

Our Refuse and Recycling crews will ONLY empty bins;theyDONOTtakeanyexcessrubbish/recycling.

Bulky collections

Forlargeitemsthatwillnotfitintoabin,orfor additional sacks of rubbish, you can contact our Commercial Waste Team on [email protected] who will visit the school to provide a quote.
