It was a colorful day on Friday, 5th of September 2014 at SCMS campus, Kalamassery. The students, faculty members and staff celebrated the auspicious festival of Onam along with the members of the management. Jörn Rohde Hon'ble Consul General Germany Ms. Christine Von Lonski Director, GWP B.Arch 1st Batch Inauguration The 1st batch B.Arch programme was inaugurated by Prof. M. Madhavan, Director, SSET on 1st September. A research titled ''Cooperative Cross Layer Solution for Performance Improvement in Wireless OFDMA Network'' authored by Mr. Sunil Jacob, Associate Professor-ECE Dept. was published in the World Applied Science International Journal during September 2014. The 'Auto Workshop' was organized by our Automobile Engineering Department in association with SAEINDIA Southern Section, Chennai for Third & Final year Mechanical and Automobile Engineering students during 19th and 20th September. 40 Students from various engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka including Kerala participated in the workshop. SSET Principal, Prof. M. Madhavan distributed certificates to participants. Auto Quiz related to new generation cars was conducted and prizes for winners were distributed. Prof. E.D.Mukundan, H.O.D – Automobile Department along with Organizing Committee conveners Mr. Manoj Kumar B, Mr. Sujay. K, Mr. Koshy P Joseph and Mr. K K Gopalakrishnan of Automobile Department coordinated various events. Paper Publications Auto Workshop Participants of the Auto workshop with faculty and staff Antinarcotics awareness classes were conducted for B.Tech fifth semester students on behalf of National Service Scheme unit. A team of Narcotic Control Bureau Kochi unit headed by Mr. Venugopal G Kurup, the superintendent of the cell delivered and demonstrated the various social impact affected to the society. Mr. K.K.Gopalakrisnan, former NSS Programme Officer, introduced the team to the students and delivered welcome speech. The program was moderated by Dr. Praveensal C. J., Professor –Mechanical Engineering dept. and Mr. Rakesh A, NSS Programme Officer. Antinarcotics Awareness Class Mr. Venugopal G Kurup, the superintendent of the Narcotic Control Bureau during class session Placement News Accenture conducted campus recruitment for 2014 batch B.Tech and MCA students on 6th August and has selected four students. Two-day aptitude training program were conducted from 23rd to 26th September for 7th semester B.Tech (all branches) and 4th semester MCA students. Trainers from Konfidence handled the classes. Kerala's culture and tradition by intricately decorating Pookalam (floral Rangoli) in the campus. The students and other departments also performed traditional dances, songs and marvelous performances spreading the flavour of Onam in the entire campus. The program concluded with an exclusive Onam feast. The celebration aligned with the institute's constant effort of connecting its diverse student community, and creating a homely environment for all its students. The water related activities of SCMS under the Centre for Sustainable Water Technology and Management (CSWTM) was caught the attention several companies who are members of GWP. They have decided to collaborate with CSWTM in order to fine tune the outstanding German technology on water to be ideally standardized for Indian local conditions for solving the water related problems in the Country. Dr. G P C Nayar, Chairman, SCMS Group will preside over the meeting. H.E. Jörn Rohde, Consul General of Germany in Bangalore will deliver the key note address. Mr Tony Chammany, Mayor, Kochi Corporation, Ms. Bhadra B, Deputy Mayor, Kochi Corporation and Ms. Christine Von Lonski, Director, GWP will participate in the inaugural ceremony. German and Indian water experts will deliberate on the theme “German Solutions to Indian Challenges.”It will also identify the challenges and opportunities of the Indian water sector, paying special attention to sustainable water resource management.     The 'Auto Workshop' was organized by our Automobile

    Accenture conducted campus recruitment for 2014 batch B.Tech

    and MCA students on 6th August and has selected four students.

    Two-day aptitude training program were conducted from 23rd to

    A Government of Kerala initiative to

    foster entrepreneurship in young minds The students of SCMS at 'YES' as volunteers

    the Young Entrepreneurs Summit (YES) held at Kochi on 12th

    September, 2014.

    Those who dream of the future can now erase the word 'no' from

    their 'lives,' said the students who participated in the event.

    The summit was a combined initiative of KSIDC, KFC, TBI,

    Technopark, Infopark, and KINFRA in creating a holistic

    ecosystem conducive for young entrepreneurs. YES is also a

    platform for young innovators to share their innovative ideas. At

    the event, the final selected innovators/ideas have been rewarded

    and honored.

    Teacher's Day in India is held on September 5, on the birth

    anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India's second

    President and a respected scholar and teacher of philosophy. The

    students of SCMS honoured all the teachers by cutting cake,

    singing songs and presenting flowers to their beloved teachers.

    The Onam celebrations of National Service Scheme unit and Helping Hands

    Organization (H2O) was conducted at Gandhi Gram Skin hospital (formerly known as

    Leprosy hospital ) Koratty. The unit distributed clothes (Onakkodi) to all the inmates of

    the hospital. The program was guided by Mr. Rakesh A, NSS Programme Officer and

    Mr. Manoj Jose Kalathil, H2O leader. th

    College at Chalakudy. The objective of

    the Green Audit is to help the institution to

    efficiently manage their water, electricity

    a n d w a s t e t h e r e b y r e d u c i n g

    environmental degradation. Green audit is

    now considered by University Grant

    Commiss ion (UGC) as a bas ic

    requirement for NAAC accreditation of

    colleges in India. Audit team will inspect

    the usage of water and electricity in the

    campus and will give recommendation to

    reduce the misuse and overuse of these

    resources. Proper waste management

    solutions will also be given to the Govt.

    College campus. The exchange students

    from University of Applied Sciences,

    Ravensberg- Weingarten, Germany also

    participated in the audit.
