Winter’s on the way, and the prospect of snow and ice comes ever closer. So along with news of the latest models, awards and festive offers, we have also included details of our winter tyres and how they can keep you safer on the road.

We also bring you news of the BMW 3 Series winning the WhatCar? Green Car of the Year, and details of the new MINI Paceman, a 3-door spin on the MINI Countryman model, due to be launched next year.

What Car? Green Car of the Year 2012

BMW 3 Series

BMW won because it did more than just sip fuel. The 320d ED is the same size as any other 3 Series, is just as comfortable and comes with just as much equipment. It goes from 0-60 in less than 8 seconds, is one of the best-driving cars in its class and hits 68.9mpg combined with CO2 emissions of only 109g/km. The combination of all these different talents is what makes the 320d ED an exceptional car, so going green is no longer a compromise.

WhatCar? Editor-in-chief Chas Hallett has high praise for the Bavarian manufacturer:

“BMW’s engineers have worked very hard on their conventional engines and have given them some very unconventional green vital statistics. The 320d lets consumers who want to do their bit for the planet do so without compromise.”

It may seem unusual that the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics (ED) won the WhatCar? Green Car of the Year 2012, with so many ground breaking full-electric vehicles and hybrids now on the market. But the BMW 3 Series won precisely because it’s normal: it’s a marriage between what people expect from their car and extraordinary efficiency.

has now worked in this role for the last 7 years. Outside work, Jill’s passion continues but this time with 2 wheels as she enjoys spending time riding her motorbike.

What would you do if you won the lottery? Buy all the cars in the showroom and a big garage to put them all in!

Dealership: Hampshire

Tony has worked for Scotthall Hampshire for nearly 18 months as a Sales Executive for BMW. He previously worked at Subaru and

Isuzu. Tony enjoys selling as every day is different. Outside work, Tony has two boys and most of his spare time is spent watching his youngest son play football and helping out with the team.

What would you do if you won the lottery? Fly off somewhere and contemplate how to spend the rest!

Deborah has worked for Scotthall for 5 years both at Stirling Corner and now Watford. Deborah started as a Sales Executive, and has

recently been promoted to Business Manager where she has just completed a Business Manager Fast Track course. Outside work, Deborah enjoys eating out and shopping (when she has time).

What would you do if you won the lottery? Fly off to the sun and travel the world.

New 3 Series touringThe BMW 3 Series Touring has been an outstanding success since its launch in September.

Despite a competitive market of niche vehicles, from crossover 4x4s to coupé-saloons and even coupé-crossover-SUVs, the 3 Series Touring continues to impress critics. Most of their comments have been about what a comprehensive package the Touring makes, in combining the well-known abilities of the saloon with a practical estate boot. Andrew English of the Telegraph called it “a true all-rounder”.

Autocar were also impressed, saying “the 3 Series

Touring retains the talent that led the saloon to score a full five star rating when we tested it earlier this year. The Touring adds a useful amount of extra space, but is still great to drive.” Five stars plus, then!

Top Gear were also impressed, although it was marked down for being too successful to be an “alternative” choice.

Still, it would be difficult to describe the 3 Series as a victim of its own success, and ultimately any praise from the critics needs to be backed up by a thorough test drive. Of course, at Scotthall, that’s something we’re only too happy to provide.

MiNi Lifestyle

The MINI Paceman is a genre-busting crossover-coupé from one of Britain’s best-loved marques. Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and described as a Sports Activity Coupé, the Paceman will tread new ground for the MINI brand and forge a new segment when it goes on sale early next year.

Based on the four-door Countryman, the Paceman’s funky looks are borrowed from its brother, but the new 2-door profile and raked rear end give it a unique, sporty flavour. Inside, there’s room for four in the stylish interior. Under the skin, the Paceman is much like the Countryman, and will come with the same engine options.

The MINI Paceman will be on sale from 16 March 2013 starting at £18,970 on the road.

For the past six years, I have worked as a Corporate Sales Manager at Scotthall BMW and MINI, devoting my time to supporting and enhancing services that are tailored to the needs of fleet managers and small businesses seeking to purchase company cars. Genuinely committed to customer service and consistently passionate about the BMW and MINI brands, I spend much of my time at Scotthall’s new prestigious Northfield site speaking to fleet decision-makers about the tax benefits of company vehicles for their businesses. My fascination with the automotive industry began during childhood when I grew increasingly enthusiastic about cars and bikes, in fact, I loved just about anything that had an engine. You could say I was the son my dad never had. Petrol still runs through my veins and I recently switched from four wheels to twoafter gaining my full motorbike licence. After graduating from university with a First Class degree, I was given my first opportunity as a MINI sales trainee. I spent three years selling MINIs and BMWs to retail customers before deciding the time was right for a change. I moved to Milton Keynes as Corporate Sales Manager and these days, I am responsible

for providing an impressive range of products and services. I have extensive knowledge of model specifications and options, running costs, fuel consumption and emissions. I also offer a range of aftersales packages.

I have promoted the BMW and MINI brands for ten years and have always found my work to be stimulating, challenging and significantly rewarding. One of my greatest achievements has been gaining the confidence of my clients in a male-dominated environment - I feel that being a woman has given me the edge and my female customer base has gone from strength to strength. I have also secured and continue to manage accounts for large local companies including Kuehne-Nagel Logistics, TSystems and The Dawson Group.
