Purpose To instruct users on how to update firmware on Legacy SSD drives in the field.

Scope Step by step instructions on upgrading the Seagate SATA Controller firmware on Legacy Drives installed

in Razberi 16/24 port appliances deployed in the field.

Identifying Legacy SSD model number

Step 1: Right click on my computer and click on properties.

Step 2: Click on Device Manager (Figure 1)

Step 3: Double-click on Disk drives (Figure 2)

Step 4: Identify if your drive model number matches the Legacy model number SSD21204SA016100

(Figure 3)

Step 5: If drive model number matches, proceed with firmware update procedure.

Identifying Seagate SSD firmware version:

Step 1: Right click on my computer and click on properties.

Step 2: Click on Device Manager (Figure 1)

Step 4: Double click on SSD21204S0016100 (Figure 3)

Step 5: Click on Details tab (Figure 4)

Step 6: In the Property drop down choose Hardware Ids, the firmware version is displayed to the right of

the model number. (Figure 5) You should see firmware version 604ABBF0 prior to the update which will

bring the firmware up to version 609ABBF0.

Step 1: Download the firmware updater and firmware file by clicking on the

following link.

Step 2: Unzip the file

Step 3: Right click on SF_FieldUpdater_1.3.7 and run as administrator.

Step 4: Select the drive then click update firmware. (Figure 1)

Step 5: It will prompt for the firmware file and you need to select FW_PPRO_6_0_9_Release.1129404.release.1411.ffp, when restart warning pops up click on proceed. (Figure 2)

Step 6: Once the software completes it will have a green checkmark on the drive

icon. (Figure 3)

Step 7: Click on the checked icon and you should see a popup saying the process

completed successfully. (Figure 4)

Step 8: Click OK then click on Rescan for Drives. Verify the Firmware is now at 609ABBF0. (Figure 5)

Step 9: Shutdown Windows by clicking on the windows icon and clicking

shutdown then pull the power on the unit to power cycle it.
